Unknown.are the minnie mouse van gone for good
Unknown.
The program will for sure be shuttered for at least some time as everyone is laid off and they say all cars are being returned to GM but Disney has not made an announcement it is gone for good. "But they returned all the cars!" Wouldn't be surprised, it would make a lot of sense to me actually. The cars were leased and if they aren't returning until COVID is over- if they return at all- those cars were losing value every day they sat in Disney's parking lot. I remember chatting with a driver who said they rotate the fleet so the cars are no older than 2 years, which means if the program returns when this is over they were going to pretty much need a brand new fleet anyway.
There is a big blogger claiming this program bled so much money and was alive because it was a pet project of an exec and Disney couldn't wait to shutter it. It's your choice if you believe them, only time will tell and personally I think we're a couple years out from knowing. (I don't believe the blogger on this as they got majorly trolled on the same topic in June, troll literally posted their correspondence)
Yeah, it was a cringeworthy messIt was all very confusing to me - it seemed like someone made up the story of Minnie Vans being gone for good, and then Tweeted that they were proud that they got bloggers to believe them and repeat it without getting any independent proof.
I agree. I also think the Minnie Vans served families needing car seats and guests with ECVs and wheelchairs better than rideshare services do, and I hope Disney brings them back for that reason. It might not be tomorrow. It might not be next year. It might not be for the next few years. But longer term, I don’t see Disney just conceding the rideshare market on their property if an opportunity to make money is available. Just my opinion of course, could be wrong!
They're just a great service in general. The drivers are the best of the best CMs. Disney didn't allow new hires into that position; everyone came from within WDW. They're also a fantastic way to go from resort to resort for dining reservations.I agree. You can call Mears and order a taxi van equipped to accomodate ECVs.I agree. I also think the Minnie Vans served families needing car seats and guests with ECVs and wheelchairs better than rideshare services do, and I hope Disney brings them back for that reason.
That's interesting, I read they were leases from Chevrolet and they were being returned to save money for the time being. For what its worth (not much) I saw a bunch of the unused Minnie Vans parked in the Epcot lot yesterday (11/14). They are in the furthest away lot, where the run-Disney events normally have their start/finish lines.
Okay, who is DeAmros? That's interesting, I read they were leases from Chevrolet and they were being returned to save money for the time being.
I know the whole thing is DeAmros pet project and he wants it to continue.
He was the president of operations now he is chairmanOkay, who is DeAmros?
I suspect that the "lease" arrangement didn't have an out clause so they are stuck paying for them for the full term. That's interesting, I read they were leases from Chevrolet and they were being returned to save money for the time being.
I assume you mean Josh D'Amaro. He was the president of operations now he is chairman
