The Messtival Of Fantasy on May 31st

I was not in the parks today but after reading about what was going on via several social media platforms, it seems that there were several issues with the parade today, some rides shut down due to lighting and then the Magic Kingdom closed early for a private event.

It has been going around that this private event featured many rare characters and experiences in order to trick the media into seeing things that actually never happen at WDW and many fans are angry about this surprise private event (that looked awesome) and no special characters at the 24 hr. event.

I saw pictures of Guardians of the Galaxy, a giant Tea Party with a talking doorknob, Hiro and Baymax, Gaston and the never-before-seen Bimbettes, Cogsworth, a baby Dumbo that I've never seen, Pinocchio and some puppets, and characters from the Haunted Mansion such as the Tightrope Walker, the Bride and several ballroom dancers.

I would like to hear Pete's take on all of these festivities and what this says about Disney being loyal in rewarding its true fans with rarities such as this, versus what they did here which seems to be pulling out all the big spectacles for a private event while giving the daytime guest what appears to be the worst parade ever performed.

I understand that the private event was for a large travel company and as such was all paid for by that company. Disney would have charged them not just for the park but also for the various characters. Oh, and the special fireworks that were fired off at 10:15 as well.

Thanks OKW Lover, I was going to suggest that ... or ... possibly a Disney family member or something having a birthday or other celebration.
But as Disney is a business above everything, if they have a chance to rent out the whole place (like the DIS team is renting Diagon Alley) then hey, all the power to them. If they make some money on thing like that maybe (and I say that with all hopes of hopes) that maybe they can lower ticket prices for the average person.

A person can dream, can't they.
