The Med Thread - All Sailings - Mediterranean

Future Sailor: We didn't get a 10% discount because we reserved our cruise on the first day it was on sale. Therefore, we got the early booking discount.

Piglet: No one ever told us about the pre-paid gratuities. Can you expand on that?

If you rebook onboard, DCL will pay the base amount for your gratuities. Then you add anything more to it that you want to, if you think they deserve it.

Wasn't the prepaid gratuities only offered for the repos?

You are correct. This is what we were told on board the 11 night. We procrastinated and booked on board. We got $250 credit per stateroom and 10%. When I asked, we were told the gratuities were only for the repos.

kimkatmom: Thanks. I'm assuming that the early booking discount was more than 10 percent off the current cruise price, or in other words that the cruise price has gone up more than 10 percent since the first booking day. Are the med cruises selling that well? I was kinda hoping that they weren't, 'cause then Disney might increase the incentives . . .

FutureSailor: I don't really know how the med cruises are selling. I do know, however, that when we successfully rebooked our cruise we then tried to rebook my daughter's room on the same cruise. If we would have rebooked it, she would have lost her cabin because apparently there is a wait list. So we just left well enough alone.

Nordkin: Thanks for the clarification on the gratuities.

Another question, however --- Does anyone have any input as to flights to Barcelona?

This past week I booked Air Plus Comet from JFK to BCN. There is a change of planes in Madrid. it cost $263 per person - one way. found it on the Kayak.com search engine, but Travelocity also has it. they only fly two days a week - from JFK on Mon and Friday.

Welcome aboard!

Hannosmom, FaireyGodMother and I are also on that flight :dance3:

Has anyone looked into taking a private van or car from the airport as of yet?

We will be a party of 8 (or 9?) and rather then pay the Disney price of $100 pp for transfers - I would rather do it on my own.

I am interested to hear how people are getting to the port from the airport as well.

I have read that you should book your return flight from 10:30 am on. We have an 11:10 am flight home. I won't worry too much about getting home on time, but I definitely want to get on that ship before sailing. :teeth:

We board on Sat July 28th. Whatis the latest flight in we should have?

Hope that helps somewhat.

I bought these same tickets tonight. We will fly out on July 27th and arrive in BCN at 12:50pm. I called Disney to see if this was enough time and they said the ship is in port till 9pm, but they would like everyone on board by 4pm. How long a trip is it from the airport to the port? :confused3 :confused3 What would be the best way to get there? :confused3 :confused3 The ship comes back on 8-8 but we donot fly out until the 10th. Where should we stay? Any suggestions. I have been over stressed about the airfare. I have only been seeing tickets for $1,100...(from IAD). I have to buy 6 tickets and I am more than willing to drive (or train) to JFK to save $3,444.

I am leaving on a Western in 12 days....so I can relax knowing my next vacation is falling into place :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:
