yes a siesta is very common - thats one of the things I love about Spain - I always need a nap in the afternoon anyway.

;)

I haven't seen this mentioned but just read in National Geographic Traveler magazine about a couple who couldn't go on their cruise because they didn't have the proper visas (they had passports). Anyone know if visas will be needed for any of these countries?

TIA!

As far as I know, American's do not need visas to visit any country in the world. Now if you plan to stay for an extended amount of time, that's another issue.
I know for sure we don't need visas for any of the countries the DCL is visting.

"American's do not need visas to visit any country in the world"--that is NOT true.

However, it is true that American citizens do not need a visa to enter any of the 25 European Union countries. Spain, Italy, and France are EU countries, so no visas are required, only a passport.

This is true -- passports for the places we are visiting but no visas required.

That is so untrue... you need visas to visit many countries. Maybe none from our cruise. To check out where you need Visas click this link:

My inlaws recently went on a cruise in South America and had to get a Visa..

That's why I said "as far as I know..." my husband has visted over 40 countries and have never needed a visa. This includes the entire Middle East and parts of Africa.

So if you want to visit the "axis of evil" countries or war torn Africa; then yes you need a visa. But do you really think Disney would have cruise where you would need to get Visa?

I'm sorry I didn't mean to sound rude but you do need Visa to visit other countries. I see on the list to go to Jordan, Kenya you need a visa.. But there are countries that you don't like Isreal. So maybe for the countries your dh has visited he didn't need one. I've never traveled to a country that needs a Visa so I was just going by what is stated on the government website. Who knows maybe the government is wrong? :confused3 I'm sorry if you took my post offensively.

Last year we went to China on our vacation and had to have visas. It was not too difficult to get. We had to mail our passports and visa applications to a friend of ours in Houston who took them to the Chinese embassy. I think it costs a couple hundred dollars. The only pain is, you can't mail them to the Chinese embassy, someone has to physically take the stuff in.

When we visited Cadiz, Spain in May, it was unbelieveably hot mid-day and many shops and restaurants closed until the afternoon.

How HOT is Hot???? :confused3
I never really thought of it as being hot there...LOL
It is a good thing anyway because we can hardly bring any clothes thanks to the luggage weight restrictions :cool1:

I need to figure out Hotel Reservations for Aug 8-10. I am thinking of booking though Disney to avoid a hassle. I have never been to Europe before and the first time I would like it to be easy. I have 3 children and my FIL is traveling with us.

Can anyone give me an opinion?

Iam staying at this one earlier, it has familiy rooms, good location.

''
The Cristal Palace Hotel Barcelona seems to be always busy, and I know of people who will not stay anywhere else when they come to Barcelona so they must be doing something right. Popular for tourists and business people this hotel is just off Passeig de Gracia, one of Barcelona’s most famous streets, and is bright, modern and has good facilities.''

Hi Andrew... I see you stayed at Hotel New York. Any reviews. We will be staying there after the Med cruise. I chose it over Newport Bay. Was this a good choice. I would love to stay at the Disneyland Hotel, but settled for the New York hotel. Thanks in advance for your review!

Its a very good hotel in a very good location apart from the disneyland hotel ( on main street entrance) its the closest hotel to the parks, Newport is nice but a longer walk.

We had breakfast in Manhatten Resturant everyday which was included and there was a lot, we also eate there a few nights and the food was good, Nice rooms all easy access a gym, an arcade, and a pool, half inside and half outside, it was cold when i was there so outside closed, but the pool was still cold. I think in summer it would be very nice.

You can walk through downtown disney to the parks in about 10 mins or less, past McD's and Cafe Mickey, a good place to eat. Also there are disneystores along the route.

You will pass over the railway station to get to the parks, a bus does run between the hotel and the station but it really isnt worth waiting for it, if they go every ten mins and you miss one, you could have walked it.

The staff are good, a small disney store, and an top of the range resurant, I thought that was a bit expensive noone else in it when I was there.

Characters would be around outside the store every morning, and i had free fastpasses given to me for any ride in the park, four for three of us.

The DL park is the size of MK the studios is smaller but expanding.

Has anyone bought any travel books for the ports yet? I am trying to decide which ones to get. There are so many books out there it is hard to choose.

Have a great weekend and happy planning.

Thanks for the report Andrew.. I'm glad I chose it. I think the weather should be good in July for swimming outside. I can't wait . Let's see this will make 2 Disney Parks down ... 1 more down in 08 and then only 2 more to go! I think Japan and China may take a lot more wishing!
