The Meat at Walmart Scares Me

Not really.

Maybe 10 years ago it did, but I occasionally buy some meat there.

I just want to see how many views my clickbait thread title will receive. It seems practically everyone has some thoughts about Walmart. What are yours?

Walmart stories often appear in my facebook and other newsfeeds. The comments are often hilarious.

I like the ones that whine about self checkouts and the lack of open staffed checkouts. Some say they won’t use self c/o unless they get a discount.

Heck, I’d gladly pay 5% more if my local Walmart had more than 6 self c/o’s.

We buy all our chicken at Walmart. They carry the same Foster Farms brand chicken as the local chain grocery store, just cheaper. We bought our Corned Beef and Ham from there too. I don't buy their beef because much of it has a salt solution added to it to preserve it. I prefer to buy beef without that solution in it.
My Walmart is a Neighborhood Market and they have 10 self check checkouts. We shop about 730 am on Sunday mornings and there are no staffed check stands open normally at this time of day. This past Sunday we had picked up a bottle of wine....and in California you can't purchase alcohol at a self check, it has to be a staffed check out. I asked the employee at the front of the store what I needed to do. He said "I have to check you out", grabbed the cart, grapped the scanner gun at the position he was standing at and I swear it took him 30 seconds to scan everything. He didn't bag our items, but man we were out of there quickly.

We usually get our meat and poultry from Sam’s Club because they have a butcher right there which Walmart doesn’t. I don’t especially enjoy shopping at Walmart but I like their prices and do grocery pick-up. I don’t order produce either because I like to see that myself. I usually buy that at a different store too.

I don’t shop at Walmart. It has been years since I walked in a Walmart store.
The in person shopping experience at Walmart is the worst of any store I've been to. I refuse to go there despite there being one 5 minutes from my house. I occasionally use their website and haven't had any issues.
Ditto. I hate Wal-Mart, but I own a small business so i have to protest. ;)

I go to Costco, there really isn't much better except maybe from a great private butcher shop.

I made the mistake of buying a 3 lb. roll of ground beef at Walmart about 10 years ago. It was pretty bad. I think it was right before that “pink slime” story emerged. I haven’t bought any meat except Purdue chicken there since.

My Walmart has many self checkouts, even 3 or 4 with belts for large quantity purchases. But yeah, many times only one or two staffed registers are open.

Even before Covid, Walmart was out of stock of some items for long periods. About 15 years ago I wanted 4x6 index cards. Walmart was out, so I bought them elsewhere. But every time after I’d check the stationery section and it took about 9 months before they were restocked. I bet their system said there were 15 on the shelf.

They were often out of 1% milk too, but had 100+ gallons of whole milk.

Walmart food is worse than anywhere save Family Dollar or one of those. Won't touch it.
Food or meat?
Much of it is exactly the same as every other store. Nabisco products are Nabisco products no matter where you buy them. Same with General Mills, Kelloggs, Quaker, Campbells. Heck, the milk at our Walmart is bottled by my local grocery store for them, but sells for a dollar a gallon less.

There are two WalMarts near me. One is very nice, and I shop there with my sister a lot. I don't buy refrigerated stuff, but I'll usually check out the rest of the groceries-I only don't buy refrigerated because my sister and I are usually going to another store or something and it would spoil.

The other WalMart is dirty and everything is thrown around. I only go there if I absolutely have to.

I order all the time from WalMart online, and have never had a problem with the service.

Haaaaaaaaate Walmart with a passion.

I go like 2x a year as they are the only one around here who carry the extended size socks for my kids/husband. I swear the place is set up to cause people the most frustration.

Decided to venture there today as I heard they were carrying a pickle ranch that I wanted to try.

No, they weren't, and at 10 am on a Tuesday, it was even worse than on a weekend.

Nope, you'll find me at Target where I spend less for a much more enjoyable experience.

It's not my usual grocery store, but there's one a couple of towns over, and I have bought groceries there when I needed other things as well. The only item I really had a problem with was fruit. - It just didn't seem to keep as long. Otherwise, I've had good luck.
