The May 2007 Rate/Code Watch

Sidenote: I also got the unknowing CM :confused3 this AM. So I decided to try, try, again. It's just easier to call back than trying to impart the supreme knowledge of the DIS on someone who isn't in the know. :thumbsup2

Are discounts available for FL Residents or just AP Holders? I am looking out for a friend that wants to join us in May for a night or two.

I got Contemporary (which shocked me considering there are very few garden wing rooms available) for $823.50 including tax for 3 nights. Then I got Beach club standard for $1161 including tax for 4 nights. Worked out great for me. I'm saving considerably over my AAA discount and was able to upgrade to Beach Club instead of POR. This is our 10th anniversary trip so I was hoping this would work out! WOOHOOO!

Nope, not yet. I called this AM and was told the FL resident rates should be out later this week. . .:hourglass

I could not believe I got what I wanted on the first shot:
AKL, pool view, $201.37 per night total, May 17-20
The CM told me they also has standard, delux savannah and concierge avail.

no AP rate for the poly for april 26th-may 5th:sad1: ...the CM is currently checking other deluxes. i, too, am wondering if there is nothing offered at the poly.....

Just got AKL booked for May 4-7, standard at $164/night.
When I called about 30 minutes ago they had all levels still available for those dates. I must have been his first call about AP rates for May though, bc he was surprised. Very, very helpful and friendly though.:)

I was just able to get the AP discount for all 14 nights of our stay at Pop: May 3rd-17th. :cool1:

BUT . . .

I was enticed to switch to AKL pool view with the AP discount instead!!!!

(I can justify this. Really. See, originally, we were booked at Caribbean Beach. Then, to save a bit of money, we switched to Pop. Then, we were going to save even more money by getting the AP discount at Pop - but, now, we're at AKL in a pool view for 14 nights for only $300 more than our original CBR reservation! That sounds good, right?????? It's perfect DIS logic!)

The last 2 years, Florida resident rates came out 1 day after AP rates. Here's a link if you haven't already seen this info. And since 2007 rates came out at the exact same date as 2006 rates, I'd think it's a pretty good guess that Florida resident rates will be released tommorrow:

the discounts are pretty close to what they were this time frame last year - I had done lots of calculations between the three levels of resorts trying to see my best deal.

I just called and got BC water/pool view for 6 nights for $2288.28. YAY! After taxes this seems to be the $101/night discount. They didn't have any concierge rooms available for the AP discount, but had both standard and water views available for my dates (4/29-5/5).

My CM didn't know that the AP codes were out yet either, but when I said I thought they came out just this morning she looked and found them without any trouble....commented that I sure was "on the ball" :rotfl:

Now my only problem is resort indecision...the AKL Concierge AP rate is calling to me, even though I made up my mind awhile ago we should be at an Epcot resort! :upsidedow

Ok....I couldn't resist...I called back and switched us to AKL Deluxe Concierge with the AP rate :cool1:

My thinking is that this may be my only chance to do AKL CL, since DH doesn't really want to stay at AKL and he won't be on this trip that DS and I are taking with my Mom....and Mom is just along for the ride :)

Who can resist getting what is supposed to be one of the best concierge levels on property at normal BC prices???

OK I just called and CSR has AP rates also, but the lady I talked to (very helpful and knowledgable) seemed to think the ticket upgrade pkg was a better deal. She was so patient while I tinkered with my calculator, and even offered her thoughts on what a great deal the meal plan was. She siad that they are paid for booking so she was actually losing money by not switching my reservation..... I didnt' know that.

Here's what I have for 4 nights CSR May 5-9
AP rate
King room $670.72 (*149 per night)
Double room $580.48(*129 per night)
Tickets (from DIS) $1738.71
Total $2989.91 (room/tickets)

Pkg Rate
King room $1589.82
Double Room $1878.45
(-meals) -779.80
Total $2688.46

So it is $301.45 cheaper to do the pkg. That makes my meal plan only $478.35 for 5 people/4 days.:yay: :yay: :cheer2:

Does this math look right to all of you guys? I told her to keep my pkg and this way I can go to the water parks and DQ as much as my family wants. I guess now I can quit tinkering with this!

seems like getting paid for booking a ressie would encourage the fiascos like happened with the pins. Not saying they should or shouldn't but it does make sense on why some CMs would bend the rules(the ones that do it knowingly).

What are your dates? And how much did you pay? Please share details! :cool1: :cool1:
sandymandr - We will be there May 12-20. $74 per night.

What date are you going to Pop? I was told nothing was available for any value except Sports.

eeyoreforever - I first tried to get preferred but that was not available but standard was. Maybe that would help. Try for standard.

WOOHOO:cool1: , I was originally booked at BWI at AAA for 323.00/standard. THey only had Innkeepers Club availabe so I switched to BC at 253.00/standard. I also added a night. I was staying 2 nights at HRH at Universal since it was cheaper, but now I will only stay one night there, since it is now the same price. I was going to get up early on 4/30 to switch, but now I can head over late in the day Sunday to BC and check in with no need to rush around.

Thanks Disboards!!!!
