The May 2007 Rate/Code Watch

Heck, I'm just looking forward to seeing the "official" hours and then start planning my itinerary. I'm a Tour Guide Mike subscriber so I'm curious to see how his suggestions look. I've set up an Excel sheet with TGM's suggestions, the UoG suggestions and everything...the only problem is that TGM's suggestions are based off of LAST May's data. Once the hours come out I'll be ready to rock!!!! My trip is still 6 months away but I just love the planning. We already know what we're doing on our arrival day! We're getting in around 3:30, probably at the hotel around dinner time. We're planning on briefly checking out the resort, POFQ, then heading over to Poly to grab some eats at Kona Cafe, chilling, and watching Wishes from the dock. That's the plan but I'm sure it'll change a dozen more times! BTW

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE

Bdtracey, My family and I will be in DW in May 2007 and will be staying at the POFQ also. This will be the first trip to DW. We are so excited. :sunny:

Where are the codes? :badpc:

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE

hi
what do you get from mike's guide
what days are better for what parks ?
i am in the same situation as you ...waiting to plan
have a great trip

my gf and i are also planning a may trip and i think that i will subscribe to TGM and see what info he has. there are too many good reports and it's only $20.

Be there May 1-10 ....so far ;)

Waiting for codes to add some more extra days!! :cool1:

MannyEdge: Good to hear about your trip! I'm super pumped to be going again! I think POFQ will be great too! Our last trip we were at ASSp and it was alright but it almost felt a little bit too budget. I don't want to sound snotty or anything but I kind of felt bad for some of the people there, I swear that some people took out a second mortgage to fund the trip.

henry_lutz: Mike's guide is pretty good, he asks that we don't give away what we get from his site but there are little tips and tricks how to "beat the system" as I like to put it. It has day by day suggestions on which parks to go to. It doesn't only say the park name, like the UoG does, but it gives an explanation why it is green, yellow, or red. He also has some sample touring plans in there so that you can beat the crowds. I don't entirely agree with the guides because I've used the UoG touring plans and they seem to be a bit easier to use. I can't really go into details but touringplans[DOT]com :rolleyes1 has some sample touring plans for free that you can check out. If you want actual ones from them you'll have to subscribe there too.

What else does Mike do...oh he's full of dining reviews, tips & tricks. He pretty much has everything that I'm looking for. His site can be used for first time trips all the way up to "know-it-like-the-back-of-my-hand" trips. His site is a bit confusing at the start but after you've played with it for a little while its not too bad, just make sure you read his overview first!!!

Also, you can Google for a code that'll get you $3 off his price, that's what I did. If you can't find it just let me know because I can 'refer' you and you'll get $3 off. I just seached for "Tour Guide Mike code" and it was simple. If you don't think you need all of those tips maybe check out touringplans[DOT]com; I find that they're a big help too.

Mike should have his May 2007 "Express Planner" set up within the next week or so which will give all of his suggestions. I have a preliminary itinerary (yes, I'm an engineer) set up using the May 2006 suggestions but they don't work too well because this year there are no grad weekends at the start of May like there were last year. I then compared those against the UoG's suggestions for best and worst parks to make my decision.

Sorry (again) for going :offtopic: I think TGM is worth the money, I prefer reading a book as opposed to staring at a computer screen but I can do TGM at work over my lunch hour just as easily as a book. IMHO, TGM and the UoG compliment each other nicely.

Hope this helped....now I'm going to see if the new park hours are up!!!!!

Well we're happy peep now right?!!!!
I totally agree...the planning is half the fun! :jumping2:

It's official - we made ressies for 4/30 - 5/9 at POP and we will visit Mom & Kennedy SC the two days prior to checking in. :woohoo:
A BIG welcome to senecabeach, kevin75, henry lutz, MannyEdge and anyone else who is sharing the magic with us in May!! :welcome:

tinkerbell87512 - I'm thinking we won't get a code until January at least - of course I won't be disappointed if it's sooner. :rotfl:

I phoned to get Hoop-Dee-Doo ADP, unfortunately got the night AFTER the night I wanted but at least we got in.
Now that MAY park hours are out, last night we finalized our 1st choices for dining rest of trip - hoping some pixie dust falls my way while trying to get the others. :tink:

BTW - is there an offical "Who's going May 2007?" thread somewhere else on DISboards, where we can share info while awaiting the happy day?

So what are the park times for May 2007? I don't seem to be able to find them anywhere!

THANKS 4u2dream: you saved me having to hunt down that link! :thumbsup2

I phoned again for ADRs and was able to change my Hoop Dee Doo ressies! :cheer2: Now we can do late Magic hours for AK as hoped. That will help alot since reg park hours are not very long in May.

AND got all the other restaurants & times I wanted except Tempanyaki which is just not taking ressies at this time (until refurbish complete in March)

Now my DD and I just have to pressure DH about springing for Cirque tickets; as soon as we reduce him to tears we'll be all set for the happiest place on earth!

He just released his May 2007 Express Planner which includes a brand new set of May suggestions. I know they're brand new because in one place he refers to the May 2006 suggestions that he had, plus there are no grad nights this May.

Just made my ressies for out May 16-26 stay at Coronado Springs Resort!!! Only a little more than 6 months away! :cool1:

just made hotel ressies ?
I heard people were having a hard time getting them now
we are going may 12 - 19
time for dinner ressies
we have the dining plan...you ?

Well we are seriously rethinking the DDP.
I just completed a spreadsheet of sorts and we won't be saving any money compared to OOP. I know it saved many others lots of $$ but for our touring style and food choices it just has us eating more food than we would normally buy. :confused3
I will plug in some different choices to see if the $$ comes out the same under various circumstances before we make a final decision.
Any one else actually go thru menus, write down prices of likely items your family will order, and compare DDP and OOP?

Got HoopDeeDoo ADR moved to night we wanted (never hurts to ask again!) and all of the others we wanted - of course now I'm thinking of changing a few already. LOL :rotfl:

Oh and hubby DID spring for those Cirque tickets!! This will be a surprise for our DD's birthday when we get to WDW. :cool1:

Am considering buying RideMax once we have our touring plan pretty set.

How is everyone else doing with their plans? Remember, that's 1/2 the fun! :teeth:

Congrats on Cirque tix :thumbsup2 I'd love to go someday. What is RideMax?

As far as DDP, I didn't do that, but I know that we "saved" over $600 on our first trip July 2005, and that was before we had to pay for DS4 (he was 2 on our trip last time). Yes, we did eat more and order more than we would have if paying OOP, but even if we hadn't had all the appetizers and such, I know we still would have come out ahead. Don't forget that tip and tax are included! That's around 23-28%.

I would also love to know what RideMax is. As far as the DDP goes...for me it is not so much about saving money on the food, it is about the freedom to order whatever I want and have it paid for in advance that makes my vacation much more enjoyable for me and my family. To me just that fact alone makes the DDP worth it. I know if I had to physically take the money out of my pocket (or charge it to my room everyday) that I would be very careful about what we eat and I know I would wind up ordering the less expensive things instead of what I really wanted because I would be adding up the bills everyday and driving myself crazy. This way I can be truly on vacation.

Planning is half the fun. I hope to book my trip next week after I talk to my DS's teachers and find out a good week in May to go. I am worried that I will book the vacation and it will be during final exams or other important days.

Have fun,

Loralie
