Just a heads up that it came back yesterday, working today, and officially back tomorrow.

Portable Fastpass machines are working.
Single Rider is still available (YAY!)
Both the Stand-By and Fastpass lines are in front of the attraction and do not wrap around the mountain.

Have you ridden yet? Any changes? Is there any more padding to the seats or the cars themselves to make the ride smoother?

Haven't ridden it yet. I needed to work on other things.
They did add a seat cushion about a year ago which made it a lot better than what was there when the new single passenger sleds were introduced.

In my opinion, there is no way they can significantly make it smoother without changing the entire track layout.
Remember it was built in the 50's and for that, I think it runs pretty well.

I agree that the new seat cushions helped, but it was still pretty rough. It didn't seem as rough to me before they introduced the new sleds (as in, there was sharp increase in the roughness with the new sleds), so I think it has more to do with how the new sleds ride the track than with the track's age.

The new sleds are a tighter fit with less padding, which in today's society wasn't the smartest things to do.
The old sleds had more padding and were wider/bigger than the new sleds, remember it fit two adults in one seat.
So because of the bigger cars and the added padding from either the bigger seat or having someone sit with you, it made the ride more comfortable.
As far as I know they have only replaced the track in sections but have not modified the layout in any way.

In my opinion, if they want to bring back some comfort they need to replace the current vehicles.

How does that work? Where is there room for the lines without wrapping around the mountain?

There has always been a lot of room in front of the entrance to the However, now there is less walking space for the other guests.

Hearing about 60-minute waits which would normally be 30 minutes without Fastpass.

They *made things* rougher when they redid the vehicles a couple years ago. The line was that they were making it more like an actual alpine sled experience. They did it on purpose. The big ol' jerks.

The way to ride is not to rest your back on the seat. Hold the handle bar in front of you.
And if you're tall, avoid sitting in rows 1 and 4

I missed it on my first trip in 2011 and was pretty disappointed. I rode it in 2013 and hated it. It was the most uncomfortable ride I think I've ever ridden. Will not try it again.

I can't ride it anymore because it aggravates my neck issue that never used to bother me in the old ride cars.

Thanks for sharing. Saw that it was down a few days ago with no estimate on its return. Is there a site that shows when attractions/rides are scheduled to be down or back up?
