Wondering how easy or how long it takes to walk from Animal Kingdom park to The Mara to eat? Looks like a great place for lunch! :)

You cannot walk from Animal Kingdom Park to Animal Kingdom Lodge. You must take the bus. Once on the bus, it's less than 10 minutes. But it's not walkable. Not safe to walk, no sidewalks, etc.

You have to bus or drive there. You can't walk.
Thanks for the info. We will have a rental car. Would it be a pain to leave animal kingdom park and drive over, or would parking and then finding parking again afterward to go back to animal kingdom be difficult and time consuming? Thanks again!

Don't underestimate the size of Animal Kingdom. It's a big park (by far the largest of the 4). By the time you actually make it into the park, chances are you aren't going to want to leave and then go back. I wouldn't even recommend going to RFC at the front of the park. Also, while we like The Mara a lot, there is NO resort counter service worth going out of the way for. AK has quite a few good CS locations as it is.

If you wanted to see AKL, book a dinner ADR for Boma, Sanaa or Jiko.

Yes, it would be a complete pain and not worth. There are plenty of very good QS and TS choices in AK. If you really want to go to the Mara, I would do it when you are done with AK and are leaving anyway. IMHO, it's just a resort QS. There's really nothing special about it.

We are fans of Mara, but would never leave AK to eat there. Plenty of food options in the park that are far more convenient. If your budget permits TS, I would highly recommend Boma, Sanaa or Jiko for dinner. We often take a bus from the park to the resort at park closing to enjoy a relaxing dinner at AKL.

I've noticed several of your questions. I recommend you pick up a copy of The Unofficial Guide to WDW by Bob Sehlinger. Many libraries have them available. Even if it's last year's edition it will help break down WDW for you. It's a reference guide. It's very helpful for people completely unfamiliar with WDW.

This is great advice. WDW also has quite comprehensive maps on their website and Touring Plans can help you put together an effective plan based on the dates you are going, the time you are arriving and the attractions you want to experience.

It's not that hard. If you really want to, do it. The Mara is fine but nothing special enough to travel for, imo.

The Mara is not worth a special trip imo. It was a great QS to enjoy while staying at AKL, but I did not eat a single thing that wowed me the three times I went. I agree with the other commenters -- all the other AKL restaurants are definitely worth visiting!

Another vote to not leave AK for the Mara. There are many really good QS dining options at AK. Flame Tree and Satu'li come to mind, plus others.
Going to AKL for Boma, Sanaa or Jiko is well worth doing. Then you also have time to walk around and enjoy the Savana.

For quick service at AK, Satuli Canteen is outstanding! Harambe Market also looks good, and there is Flame Tree BBQ. I'd do any of these rather than make a special trip to the Mara.

Another vote for not bothering to leave AK to go to Mara. Yes, Mara a perfectly fine place to eat. However, it has nothing special to recommend itself over what you can find right in AK.

About the only reason to make that a special trip would be if you just wanted to see AKL during your visit. In that case I would just plan on stopping there after you leave AK for the day.

Yet another vote to not leave AK to eat at the Mara. We stayed at AKL a couple years ago, and it did not impress me. Sanaa, Boma, amazing. The Mara, I would avoid. There are way too many amazing QS places at AK. I love Satuli Canteen and FT.

But if you must, you should just take the AKL bus from AK, don't take your car. Get off at Jambo House. But don't do it. ;)

Agree with others. I actually really like Mara, as QS goes, and would look forward to eating there if we were staying at AKL. But it definitely is not worth leaving the park unless maybe you were looking to get out of the park for a mid-day break anyway.

And even aside from the need to leave the park to get to Mara, I prefer Satuli. The Yak&Yeti take-out window is also pretty good.
