The mall is just no fun anymore!

I haven't shopped at a mall in ages, but with my new job I finally have some disposable income, and here it is Christmas shopping time so I went to the mall.

What happened? Where did all the unique stores go? Chain jewelry stores, three variations of the Gap, one book store, no toy store, a ton of stores for "tweens" and teens that seemed to sell the same stuff. I did find several things at Penneys, but after waiting 15 minutes in line to check out, I just lost patience and gave up.

And to top it off, I went to buy a box of my favorite candy - See's molasses chips in milk chocolate (from the seasonal See's store that is only in the mall in December!!) only to find that they now make the boxes "assorted" milk and dark chocolate, and my box was like 70% dark!

So I am going back to Target tomorrow, and ordering myself a pound of milk chocolate from sees.com. So much for hanging out at the mall!

Working at the mall for 3 1/2 years cured me of 'hanging out' at the mall for life.

If there was ever an unusual or unique store at the mall, it didn't last for a year before it went bye-bye. The KB toys went out of business and there's enough 'tween' shops to kill a horse with several times over.

I pretty much only go to the mall if I am looking for something for my tweens now that you mention it. I used to love mall shopping. But the older I get the less fun it is for me.

It's tough getting old. After all the crap I've seen in malls this year with teenagers, I've vowed never to cut my dd loose in one until she's at least 18.

I still LOVE shopping at the mall- and I'm well beyond the TWEEN stage. However, I LOVE to shop no matter where it's at. Maybe try again after the holiday's though-- this is the worst time of the year. Especially the next week and a half.

LOL do you have the kiosk people in the middle of your mall? We can't go to the mall without 3 dozen people asking us "excuse me, Miss, can I see your nails?" I hate it. It's so annoying.

I haven't spent any significant amount of time in a mall in years!!!!!! If I go to a mall, I go because I have something I need in a particular store. I go in, go to that store, and leave. I no longer wander around, I no longer shop. I have no interest in anything from Abercrombie, Aeropostale, The Gap (in any of its multipla incarnations), Express, Limited, Limited Too, Rave, or any store that sells big baggy pants and "gangsta" wear.

I do catalogs (mostly Bean, Eddie Bauer, Lands End) or online. Mail it ot my house. If I have to return it, I like the people at my post office better than the people at the mall!!!!!
