Yay, you made it!! :cheer2:
Apparently, I've been lurking here. It wasn't intentional - I really thought I'd posted at some point... But I have been reading along and this is a great story! :thumbsup2 After my last excursion to The World, I can totally appreciate what it takes to visit The Mouse solo with a 4yo, and I didn't even have to navigate an airplane in the process. You rock :cool1:

I love your report - Leo is such a sweetie! It is much different to do it solo - but so much fun!

Now, those of you with little girls know that there is some genetic mutation which dictates to them that under no circumstance are they allowed to bypass the opportunity to completely and fully inspect any and all new bathrooms they come into contact with – so, what should have been quick, 5 minute trips were actually 15 minutes each – not appreciated by our fellow passengers, but oh well – there are other things to worry about in this world. :teeth:

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Every single restroom you pass or come in contact with! Don't I know it! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I am really enjoying your TR! Keep it coming.
BTW my DD is Allison commonly referred to as Ally. :goodvibes

As we stepped up to the desk to check in, it occurred to me that I had done it – I had gotten Pal to Disney World all by myself. I began to relax somewhat and started to truly enjoy everything. The CM checking us in was very nice and helpful, and in no time we had our key/tickets, stored our luggage and were waiting for the bus to take us to the Magic Kingdom. :cheer2:

I had never before thought of a bus stop as possible entertainment, but apparently Disney has thought of everything. As we waited, Pal played hide-and-seek with another kid around the giant letters while I was thoroughly entertained by the conversations going on around me. I am a people-watcher and an eavesdropper (so now you are warned in case you ever run into me), and it was very hard for me not to laugh out loud at some of the things people were saying – there was a actually a family of four in front of me talking about how they were GOING to get a seat on this bus no matter what, and warnings to anyone who tried to stop them. WHAT??? Then there was the conversation about just WHY hubby had to make them late for the bus by stopping to get coffee when it’s a thousand degrees outside…maybe you had to be there, but since we were just getting there and were wearing the veil of “all is right in the world”, it just struck me as ridiculous that people were acting this way.

Not long after, the bus pulled up, I called Pal over to get into line and discovered rule #2 when traveling with a child alone – always start to fold up the stroller BEFORE the bus stops. Otherwise, you are subject to much name-calling and dirty looks from those around you who have to wait 2 extra seconds for you to flip it closed – because we all know that 2 seconds can make all the difference between….NOTHING. :smooth:

BUT, I am at Disney with my Pal, so these little people truly don’t matter in the grand scheme of things – and it hits me – I AM ADDICTED. In real life, attitude like that wouldn’t have gone unpunished (I’m really a very nice person, but I have zero tolerance for rudeness and stupidity in anyone), so when I just smiled and got on the bus, I knew that Disney really did run in my veins. Heaven help us. :cloud9:

Pal was bouncing on the seat, peering out the window trying to catch a glimpse of the castle I had promised she’d soon see – and sure enough, THERE IT WAS (picture a halo of light and a hallelujah chorus surrounding Cindy’s digs) – Ally went berserk. If I could have just bottled that pure joy and delight from my little girl at that moment, there would be no sadness anywhere in the world ever again. And I knew I had done the right thing – financial pressures, uncertain future – none of it mattered right there in that moment, and for the first time in months, if not years, I felt true bliss. THIS is what it’s all about, and my addiction took on a whole new meaning. :dance3:

Hey! I get to do the banana dance cause I'm the first one to post!

Another great installment! My daughters didn't aahhh over the castle. I guess they're too cool :smooth: too do that! But I loved watching them lose their coolness when they met up with certain characters... :rotfl: It sounds like you and your little one are going to have an awesome time together during this TR! :goodvibes

I’d love to be able to walk you step-by-step through our entire vacation like some of this board’s truly talented writers, but to be honest, in my utter state of bliss that entire week, I have a hard time recalling things not captured on film from the time we glimpsed the castle until it was time to walk out of the MK for the last time, but I will do my best to give you the highlights. :teeth:

I remember walking through the turnstiles and immediately seeing Chip and Dale – Pal ran up to them without prompting and gave them big hugs. As we walked through the tunnel under the train, I remember feeling that same excitement that as a kid you felt the moment before you saw what Santa had left under the tree for you :Pinkbounc , and then there we were – Main Street USA. Now you will all remember that I am an absolute freak when it comes to being overprotective, but whatever drugs they were piping through the walls in the tunnel must have had a profound effect on me, because even though there were lots of people around, I was not at all scared – go figure. :confused3

We peeked into the shops along Main Street, gaped at the Castle for a few minutes, and then entered Fantasyland. Pal must have been completely overwhelmed, because she couldn’t decide what she wanted to do first, so we just strolled around, making our way over to Tomorrowland. And what does my little girlie-princess choose as her first Disney ride? – Indy Speedway of course. :car: This child has been obsessed with driving ever since she was about 2, and now she was going to get to drive by herself – oh heaven. We didn’t have to wait too long (didn’t really have long waits all week) and then we were zipping around the track. I couldn’t remember the last time I heard that baby laugh so loud or so hard, and she’s a pretty happy kid by nature. :rotfl:

Through the afternoon, we made it to the Teacups, Peter Pan, Dumbo and the Winnie the Pooh playground. Before we knew it, it was time for our first character meal (remember, on my family trips, there was only one we were even allowed to eat in the parks, and certainly never at a TS, so it was truly OUR first character meal) – Liberty Tree Tavern. I loved this meal – the food was okay, but getting to spend time with the characters actually reduced my age by about 20 years. Pal loved it, and I could see the addiction growing in her. :lovestruc

I can’t remember for sure if we watched the parade and fireworks that first night, but I do remember falling into bed back at the hotel utterly exhausted in such a good way that I slept the sleep of the unburdened – a major feat for me at that point. :cloud9:

The next few days truly run together for me. I know that we had breakfast in the Castle and that Pal thought I walked on water since I had hooked us up with the Princesses. We visited Ariel in her grotto, rode Winnie the Pooh, explored the Haunted Mansion (yes, she was THAT blissful that even a few friendly ghosts didn’t deter her). She didn’t understand why she couldn’t ride the Mountains (she’s short just like me), but I promised her that one day we’d come back and she could (I’m smooth, I know). She met Jasmine and Aladdin in Adventureland, loved the Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise, and really enjoyed POTC. In Tomorrowland, we had to ride Indy several times, killed aliens with Buzz, and rode TTA so many times that I began to suspect she thought it was a small roller coaster. We did make it to the other parks on occasion, but most of our time was spent right there at the good ole’ MK. :wizard:

EPCOT wasn’t much interest to Pal – Living Seas was closed, so we couldn’t do that. She was too short for most of the rides. She did, in true mommy-daughter fashion, fall in love with Figment like I had so many years before, but besides that, she wasn’t really impressed. She did love Garden Grill – she ate very well (for her at least) and had the most fun with the characters here than really anywhere else we went – they played with her, wrote her notes in her autograph book, and even “tried” to eat her food – it was great! :thumbsup2

She did enjoy Animal Kingdom – we had breakfast with Donald and the Gang, rocked out with Tarzan, visited Planet Watch and Camp Minnie-Mickey and helped save Little Red – a nice day, but so very hot that I think it kind of curbed the enjoyment a bit. :sunny:

MGM was another so-so for her. She loved Beauty & the Beast, thought Muppets was cool and played along with Playhouse Disney, but again, nothing that really POSSESSED her like at MK. We both LOVED Fantasmic and Voyage of the Little Mermaid, but didn’t see a need to revisit that park on the trip.

Our last night was also MNSSHP. We swam during the day and chilled for a while, the got dressed up and headed over to the park. Dinner at Tony’s was nice (our waitress was fantastic) and we walked over to Toontown (I had avoided this area up until this point specifically because I knew what was going to happen). SHE DISCOVERED THE GOOFY COASTER. I am not kidding – we rode that sucker 10 times in a row – would have gone more if I hadn’t insisted that we at least LOOK at the rest of the stuff. We had fun that night – she met some little friends, got a sword balloon from a guy on the “street” and we found a place to watch the parade. I loved the parade, but my little Disney princess slept through the whole thing. There were several hours left to go, but I knew it was over for the night, and we headed back to the hotel. :moped:

I just found your story and loving it! I am possibly going solo in Dec. with a 3 year old boy and am nervous about it... We are flying from TN to FL to make my life easier, but I am a Disney addict and feel the need to go see x-mas decorations....

This report is inspiring me...I want to take my boys (sans dh) at the end of Nov. but it scares me to death. It sounds like you had a great time going it solo though!

What a cool mom you are! :hippie: Your girls are very lucky.
You are making great Disney memories for them...and passing on that magic feeling. :thumbsup2

I have 15yr old son, ..a "surly teenager" now....but one who had a great time when he was at MK when he was 10, now he has no interest in going back...(I least I don't think so...you really don't get that much feedback with kids his age) :rolleyes2 Anyway on the bright side I know one day in the future he will come back around to Disney and want to feel the magic that was planted when he was 10.

Although he can't wait to be a full fledged adult, it won't be long until he wants to feel like a kid again! pixiedust:

Looking forward to your next report, thanks for sharing and taking us back to your younger years and your Disney journey... :flower3:

Young lady, I will be quite offended if you don't post more today so that I have more to read at work! ;)

Loving it so far!

Ha, ha, I knew Pal would love the Goofy coaster! As I was reading of your adventures in MK, I kept thinking "Why aren't they riding the Barnstormer? Pal would loooove that ride! Hang in there, they'll get there..." If only it lasted more than 20 seconds.

You guys are so funny - thanks for sticking with me!

I'll hopefully get the final chapter of this trip up by this weekend :thumbsup2
