The Magic Kingdom in 1973

OK, going back to 1973, does anyone else besides me remember those beyond disgusting diced ham sandwiches called Satellites that they sold at the Lunching Pad? BLECH!!!! But still miss it - go figure!!!

Awesome! Thanks for sharing the link. It brings back so many memories from my first trip. My sister and I loved It's A Small World so much, my dad had to buy extra E tickets. :lmao:

Wow, awesome link. I remember as a little kid spending what seemed like hours studying those old maps in detail trying to figure out the best path to hit all the rides we loved the most.

Oh how I loved Mr Toad's Wild Ride and If you had Wings..............I wanted to ride them over and over. It makes me tear up to remember those happy days. My grandparents took me for the first time when I was only 2.:cloud9:

Thank you so much from a brit who was only 14 at the time.

My biggest regret is that I have not seen the evolution of WDW apart from 2000 onwards

I love how Peter Pan was a C ticket and It's a Small World was an E ticket.

Tobacco Shop on Main Street, how times have changed.

I do miss the Magic Shoppe and the Penny Arcade. The Penny Arcade was awesome, a facinating piece of Americana, my absolute fav place on Main Street. Wasn't there a calliope in there, is that the same calliope that is at 1900 Park Fare?

Also Exposition Hall was called Hospitality House.

I was a big fan of Mr. Toad too as a child. I was excited to ride it at DL. Well excitement quickly turned into shock, when I saw that as Mr. Toad you......stole a car, went to a bar, drank beer, drove drunk, went to jail, broke out of jail, got hit by a train, die, and go to hell.

I can't believe I didn't remember any of that, I just rememberd driving crazy and running into things. Wow. Talk about an attraction on 2 levels.

I actually still have that guidebook! I miss the days when Main St was like a real life street with all the different shops, penny arcade, & cinema rather than just one LONG freakin' Disney store!

I miss the old Main Street as well. Back in 1976 I took a picture of the sidestreet ant had all the flower carts and the original Barber Shop and Laundry. I actually painted it in watercolors and it hangs on my living room wall as a special memory. A few years ago it was gone and a new store took its place. I really loved the old Main Street.

A 360 degree theatre in the round like at Canada & China in Epcot that showed a film called America the Beautiful with great scenes of the USA!:)

We actually moved from Florida to New York the year WDW opened! I was 11 years old! Can you imagine! I was about 18 when we came back for a vacation and I loved the penny arcade and magic shop also. Also, 20,000 leagues. I do not think these responses are purely nostalgic though. Why oh WHY would they make all of Mainstreet Shopping! I know, I know, for the profits, but they get they anyway even if they throw in some interesting and fun shops like those in the past. It makes it SOOOOOOOO much more enchanting (best word I could think of). The flowers too! I really do not understand how they could be discarded. When the young kids talk about Main Street when they get older what do they have to really cherish? Disney shirts, key chains, coffee mugs? Yes, there is so much more to Disney, but that is the starting point and should be extra special. It is also where you look up and see the castle for the first time and should be worthy. Sorry, went on a rant.
