For those of you that were on the 2011 or 2010 WBTA, or any other "extended" cruise, how do the wine packages work? Is it twice the 7-day price? Can you get a smaller amount?

Also, are there any prohibitions of sharing a wine package with another group? I know it wouldn't be done through DCL, but if two cabins made arrangements would DCL frown upon that?

TIA

Hi there,

Whilst I am not the biggest drinker in the WBTA I think I can help, If you take a fourteen day cruise this does not mean you have to buy the 14 day package, you can buy three days, four days, five days,7 days etc if you want and if you want a really bad hangover you can drink them all in one go. On the EBTA 2013 whilst travelling solo, I bought the 7 night package, prior to boarding and used a bottle ever other night or so. On the next cruise a couple of weeks later, we bought the 7 night package again but didn't finish them, so you can take them off (we left them with a CM to collect next week on another cruise)

As for prices, your right it's bascially double the 7 day price, maybe a little different, but not much, remember the 15% they add for auto gratuity.

Some more info - there really isn't any 14-day package, the longest is 7. So no pressure to book a total of 14 days' package worth.
On our WPBC, we booked a 7-day package and intended to book another one after that, but we ended up not having as much wine as we had thought (too many drinks of the day instead ;) ) so we only added a 3-day package after that.

Sorry to hear about that Pat. Don't run yourself ragged either - tough to do all you are doing. Hang in there.

Hi there,

Sorry to disagree with you, but there is such a thing as a 14 day wine package, yes it's not listed on the website but, on boarding our last 2 transatlantic cruises, I was charged on day one for a 14 night wine package for the cruise. Basically they adjust the wine packages to suit the length of that particular cruise.

You can choose whatever length of package you want, depending on how much you want to drink. If you have bottles left, they can arrange a credit back to you at the end of the cruise.

We have had 10 and 11 night packages available on med cruises before.

Hi there

I don't know if this might help your answer but, on an eastern Caribbean, a few years ago, we were cruising with friends on a different reservation, different cabin, but were linked for dining. In topsiders, when ordering our wine package from the waiter selling water and wine packages, I ordered a 7 night package and so did my friend. Unknown to us, the waiter got confused, thought we were a couple and only put one through.

Each night, each couple had a bottle from their wine package and on night 4 we were told we only had one bottle left !!!!! Basically our friends were drinking our wine package all week and they then ordered another 7 night package to do all four of us till the end if the cruise, so it can be done, but potentially whoever pays for the package, the other parties would need to reimburse their share of the cost to the room account :)

and here is #10 :)

THATS HOW IT WORKS :cool1:

one after the other till you get 10

Thank you so much! That is good to know. And it's nice to know that they don't automatically pick the package for you. I know it's subject to change, but the list they have now for Barcelona departures looks rather nice. Lindababe introduced me to my now favorite sparkling wine, Rosa Regali, at Palo during the WBTA 2011 and it's on the Classic Package List.

Oh, okay, thanks for correcting me! Our server told us there was none and that we could book two 7-night ones instead, so it seems he didn't know all the details.

Hi, all! I've been lurking here for months but we are now booked on the WBTA!!! We are: Me - Kim (Gilland18) cabin 6016
DD Melody (celebrating her 30th on cruise)
and DM Bea cabin 6018
DF Jerry

I recognize some names from the EBPC last year. We are totally pumped about this trip! We hope to spend at least a couple of days in Barcelona before we sail but haven't made any plans yet. It's going to be a long year waiting. Still trying to convince my husband to join us.:rolleyes1

Page 4???!!! :scared1:

Obviously we are all preparing for the last weekend in August and looking forward to our one year to go date!!!!

:lmao:

I got a cruise document for the WBTA yesterday in the mail. It was nothing overly exciting, but it was fun to see that this cruise is finally becoming a reality! We are leaving on the Eastern Caribbean in 9 days, so it will be a great way to celebrate our 1 year to go mark :-)

Scottishwee35

We met on a cruise, that's for sure, but not 2008. I only crossed the Canal in 2011, 2012, and 2013. Old lady's memory is short though, so I can't remember which one we DID meet on.

Pat, any new news about y'r mom? HANG tough and do NOT kill yourself trying to take care of everyone!!!!
