The Pre-Cruise Hard Rock Get-Together

WE will be organising a pre-cruise meet up on the evening before we sail in Barcelona. In the past this has been held at the Hard Rock Cafe on Placa Catalunya ... you can meet up for a drink, or dinner, or just say hello to your fellow cruisers. This has been a great night in the past ... a good way to catch up with old friends and meet new ones.

I will be contacting the Hard Rock early in 2014 to arrange this, and until; then will be keeping a list of names of those who are interested ... so send me a PM with your names if you are :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Mandy and I are planning on being there!

After 2010 we plan on coming earlier on the Friday, being diverted to Madrid the night before was a little unnerving! :sad2:

Indeed ....your experience and Mary with her lost luggage last time have made me very wary of flying in on the day of the cruise or indeed late on the previous evening.

Making me scared lol!
We can't travel until night before or morning of cruise due to the slight problem of maxed out annual leave quota!

Please be gentle with me :)
Fist time cruise but a Disney nut, travelled to Orlando 7 times and wanted to experience something new,
Kay, DH Keith & DD14 Phoebe #6145 is our room :love:

Welcome aboard!!!!!!! I have added you to the roll call. :goodvibes

Hi, Please add me to the list.

Welcome. I have added you, please can you let me know your first name and cabin number too. :goodvibes

If it was like the mojito tasting, there were different types of mojitos. So I'm assuming there will be different types of drinks with rum in them. :goodvibes

Deb - You will be able to tell them what you want for the whole group when you book the tasting. :thumbsup2

So I'm trying to convince my sister to come on this cruise.

She would be a single, in one cabin, so the cost is a pain for her. But she's always been interested in our TA's and DCL, so hopefully she will go for it - I know she'll LOVE it once she tries it.

I love vacationing with her & she could really use the relaxation of a longer voyage.

She's sleeping on it tonight...Cross your fingers for me that she goes!

Thanks Claire! You are such a sweetheart. Its nice to know I'll see your smiling face again on this cruise. :flower3:

Fingers crossed your sister joins you. :)

Liz you are so sweet. :hug: It will be so lovely to see you guys again. :)

And speaking of adult beverages, let's have a review of terms:

RAB = refreshing adult beverage
FAB = frozen adult beverage

Examples of usage:

"It sure is hot, I think I'll have a FAB."
"What a day! I really need a RAB."

Now, everyone practice!

LOL Pat - I so love these phrases!!!! I am sure they will get as much use this time as they did last time.....hopefully even more! ;)

So are most people doing second seating? We did first seating last time and we want to hang out with everyone so we are doing 2nd this time maybe we can have cocktails with everyone

We do late dining. :) I think the majority (except for those with young children) do late dining, make sure you add you name to the DIS dining group so you can be sat on a table in the area full of DISers. :) PM your details to Susan (Geffric), more info on the first page. :thumbsup2

Last update for the night possibly :flower1:

Mandy I have updated the first post. :thumbsup2

Wow - between FB & Dis - we might need to coin a new word - I don't think "Chatty" begins to cover it. This reminds me of our 2008 EBPC - our thread was renewed 15 times before we sailed.
It's is going to be some kinda wonderful adventure - :cheer2::cheer2:

I think we should place some bets on how many threads we get too before we sail.....I think maybe 20? What have I let myself in for!!! :rotfl2:

We got there fine in the end! Mandy had almost forgotten about it, when I mentioned it the other night! ;-)

UPDATES TO FIRST PAGE....

Hi all, just to let you know that yesterday/this morning I have added quite a lot of information to the first 4 posts on the first page.

It contains all the information about what is being organised so far and how you can join in each activity. Please make sure you PM the organiser to join an event, as posting on the thread is easy to miss. Please note that if you have joined an activity your name(s) may not show up for a week as I will be getting weekly updates from each event organiser, so please do not chase them or me until after a week or so.

We still have lots of events that haven't got a volunteer so if you would like to do something please don't be shy! ;) Even if you don't know how to do it someone will be able to help. :)

Some of the things I thought of that we could organise if there is any interest are:

* Candy exchange - basically the same principal as the Fish Extender but just candy from your area of the world.

* Book swap - where someone hangs a bag outside their cabin and that we can all put our read books in during the cruise and take another one to read, the books left at the end of the cruise get donated to Guest services for the crew.

* Lanyards - it is so nice to have a DIS personalised lanyard so we can instantly recognise other DISers. We will need an organiser and depending how we run it a cost per person or lots of $$'s in donations!

* Other drink tastings possiblities - Whisky/Cognac/Mixology/Wine/Beer

* Ship Pub Crawl

* Palo Group Dinner

* PJ Breakfast

* Until we meet again lunch? - Last sea day?

I am sure we will have some group shore excursions too as we get nearer the cruise.

Thank you. :goodvibes

Good morning everyone, we were out yesterday evening, I have loads of posts to read through and catch up on!

Yay! It'll be lovely to see you both onboard! :) :) :)

Too funny, how much pent-up energy was unleashed by DCL finally releasing this WBTA.

So, for the Stateroom Tour -Dis'ers volunteer their stateroom to be viewed during a walking tour, so you can get to see (hopefully) every Category of accommodations on the MAGIC. You can see "how the other half lives":goodvibes, and also see what would or wouldn't work for YOU on future cruises. ("I'd be ok in that sideways 11", or "Hey, that Navigator's Verandah is pretty cool")

Logistically, a group of 25-30 is ideal, and those "volunteering" their rooms for viewing also want to tour, so participants will be given a specific itinerary. Since it looks like there will be far more than that number, a couple itineraries might be needed so we're not all in one place at one time, but we'll see. Hope that all makes sense.

Please use this link to sign up, it's my first try at a GoogleDoc:surfweb:, so don't be surprised if it doesn't go off without a hitch:furious:. But, hey, we've got 17 months to get things sorted out. :wizard:

The link should also be on Post 1, or wherever Claire puts all the "Activities" info.

Congratulations!! You know we were saving it for you ;)

Yes - please, please consider joining the stateroom tour! :goodvibes

Please can i ask what time do you book the brunches for?
Lyn

DCL usually automatically books the requests for the opening time of the restaurant, which is normally 10:00 am.

We spent over 2 hours with our brunch group - pacing ourselves eating, visiting, and laughing. We really got to know a group of people we didn't know previously, and it was great!

Hi,

yes we have put our selves down for the room tour! It is one of favourite parts of the cruise - having a peak into all the different rooms.

Hi Lorraine

How exciting that you got the Walt Suite!

DH (Scott) and I (Deb) are booked in cabin 6132. We've booked and canceled two previous WBTA sailings - first time DH got downsized, and second time he'd just started a new job. Hopefully, the third time's the charm! We love long cruises - have done Hawaii (May 2012) and the WBPC (May 2008), and have the EBPC coming up (Sept 2013). Have also done an eastern and western itin back-to-back. Bottom line, we love extended cruises with lots of sea days. I know it's the same for many of you!

I plan to check the old DISboard posts for info/advice on air travel and pre-cruise hotels. While DH has traveled to Europe many, many times (he used to live in Holland), he's not been back for at least 10 years so isn't so "in the know" these days.

Hope to be able to keep up with this thread, LOL!

Can't wait!

debg
