What a fantastic holiday that was, we've been back a couple of times for the day to that town in Corfu to reminisce, but it's not the same in daylight when you're sober :rotfl:

Which town in Corfu was it Mary ?

Tony and I met working in the same hospital ... we actually first were officially introduced to each other at the hospital social club on a talent night. We met in the April and he proposed in the July in Dublin on a weekend break. We met in 1998 and got married in 2002 as I wanted to complete my nursing training before getting hitched.

We met at friend's 30th Birthday party then 18 months later, he took me to the hotel and made the arrangement date for our wedding 1st Oct 1994. He didn't ask me Will you marry me!! He told me to pick the date!!:confused3 Anyway, it was best wedding ever lol..:thumbsup2

How romantic Deborah :) never mind though, it's the thought that counts

It was Benitses Sarah, south of Corfu Town. It was wild, the Malia of its day :lmao:

We met July 1990, engaged August 1990 then married September 1991, we didn't hang around either

Not so (Totally Angelic),

It was Benistes, I was on a boys holiday with 15 Liverpudlians and Mary drunk my friend under the table.
Must have been a big social club to have all those lifts. Lol (Private Joke)

. . . I'm going to say this in print and in public so you can hold me to it :lmao: after the port intensive med cruise we just did and the astronomical prices DCL want to charge for a Greek/Venetian cruise, maybe it is time to try another reputable company in the med. We were so tired last time, we couldn't appreciate it was DCL and would've been as well being celebrity.

In saying that, and I'm sure everyone would concur, it's DCL all the way for the long repo cruises
I have to agree. I've been on several non-DCL Med cruises, and was very pleased.

I've also been on a several DCL long repo cruises (Transatlantic and Panama Canal cruises), and was very pleased with those as well.

I agree with both Mary Kay and Woody that the cost of the Greek cruise was over the top. We were going to do a B2B including that cruise but the price was just way too much for such a port intensive cruise.

Just came off the DCL in June from Greece and Turkey- loved the cruise, but looking forward to sea days on the WBTA to really enjoy the ship.

On a port intensive cruise, our typical routine is:
  • Wake up early,
  • Grab a quick breakfast at the buffet,
  • Go off the ship for a long day in port,
  • Return to the ship in the late afternoon or early evening,
  • Have dinner,
  • Maybe see some entertainment,
  • Return to the cabin to read up on the next day's port.
Rinse and repeat.

me too..DCL for longer repo cruise but I am starting to look at other cruise lines for different cruises. Been on everything DCL offers, so I wanna try different cruises like river cruises, Baltic, Greece and turkey cruises, further in Alaska, etc.

So excited to do the WBTA. We loved the EBTA in 2011. Only 401 days to go! :cool1:

We are MegaMouseHouse. It will be me Tracy and my DH Lester.

We are booked in Cabin 7007.

Excited to be joining all of you!

Welcome back!! :)

We did a NCL cruise in June that included Greece and Turkey - so thankful to get to see those areas. Weren't they intriguing?

Would you believe that on that 12-night NCL with you guys, we only saw entertainment one night? That "read up on the next day's port" took priority each night. :) Right now I am trying to figure out pre-cruise for WBTA... and am intrigued with Prague - Vienna - Salzburg (or Budapest). Hoping to incorporate some mission work for a couple days in Prague if we do go that route.

Ditto everyone who shared about looking at other cruise lines. DCL was out of our budget (and timeframe) for Greece/Turkey but I think we were able to book NCL for the four of us for less than half the DCL cost. For as little as we were on the ship, we had zero regrets doing that.

I can highly recommend Prague and Vienna, having stayed one week in each.

I completely agree with both of you.

For me, on a port intensive Med cruise, the ports have priority. Beyond that, there's often little time left for shows, entertainment, and activities.

I thougt I was the only one who think the MED cruises of DCL are to expensive, but now I see so many who will look for another cruiseline for the MED cruise or other port intensive cruises.
I would love to do a MED, and look indeed for anothter cruiseline.
I love your list of what to do Woody.

liesbeth: I see you are from Arnhem. I enjoyed visiting your lovely city. I went to the Airborne Museum at the Hotel Hartenstein, and the Arnhem Oosterbeek War Cemetery. It was very emotional and moving.

Woody, we were there too, back in the 80's, and felt the same. Are you former military?

:thumbsup2 You know when I tell Curt "Woody said...." then it's definitely taken into much higher consideration than just me throwing out the idea!! :cool1: Off to call and interrupt him at work... hehehehe.... :)
