The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

Matt has just completed his 2nd year at Lancaster, waiting for his grades now on the 10th of July, we will be in Florida so will have to be up at 5am to log in and get them.
We are going up to the Uni tomorrow as he is doing a charity abseil down Bowland Tower. Sir Chris Bonington will also be participating.

Don't know what to do about the transfer in San Juan, Disney want $60 for 3 of us a taxi is approx. $25.

I think as long as you have time in case there's a queue for the taxi or anything then I'd go taxi route or as others have mentioned do a tour. As there's just me it made sense to do the Disney shuttle. I'm kind of hoping they might do a little bit of a scenic route so I can get some pics. The first year they did Barcelona our bus to the port had a lovely little tour included for free but I doubt they'd do the same just hoping to get some pics of the country side. A little gutted I couldn't work the flights in to get a tour in of San Juan but didn't want to shell out for another hotel and the flights back on the Saturday were cheaper.

Weird connection I too did my degree at Lancaster some 12 years ago now!

If anyone knows Kristi and Jolie, Trent and Crystal, and Bareauda(ann) and Howard.. let me know ..I would like to pm them and ask if they are still sailing and want linked dining..thanks

For those of you who were lucky enough to do other transatlantic cruises, were you allowed to bring your own alcohol onboard in Barcelona?

Yes no worries on that front. Oh and there is a small alcohol shop in the port itself

Is the post located right at cruise terminal, and if so is there a nice selection of wine and possibly bailey's? Thanks.

Sorry that was meant to say in the port and yes its right in the cruise terminal. From what I remember they had a few nice wines and I think they had some cream liqueur but can't remember Baileys.

According to post #1040, Trent and Crystal are no longer cruising with us. As for the others, :confused3.

Maybe you should all have a Lancaster evening. Matt loves talking about the Uni, just now he is on a train for 4 hours going south to Bishop Stortford where tomorrow he is giving 3 talks on student life at Lancaster Uni. https://twitter.com/mathewgillings

Today was so hot in Lancaster I have come home burnt. We never visit in the heat, its always cold and raining up there :rotfl2:
3 pics from today.

Bowland Tower they abseiled down.

He's braver than me :goodvibes and looking so grown up. My two have done the same, they seem to leave home for Uni as 'children' and return as adults .

Not sure about that, he might be 6`3", almost 20 years old and have more brain cells than me, but he still doesn't cook, wash or iron.:rotfl:

We paid DCL £25.92 for two adults, think you can still add to your reservation on the website,we booked last May,not sure if price will have changed.:)

Thank you. Think I'll speak to my TA and get them to book it for me.

Hi Heather
we are 8 persons ( 5 adults and 3 kids)
i hire puertoricocruiseexcursions in their web, they will pick us up i the port, make a short and nice excursion in old san juan while holding our bags and then they drop off at 1pm the airport or later . I was waiting for Disney to release their offers and as i didn't find one i book this for 40 U$ per adult and U$28 for kids.
I wanted my kids to dee the puerto Rico fortress before flying back.
Hope this is useful
Alex

Interesting. Thanks Alex

So, I have taken this over and it is my first time organizing so please forgive me if I screw it up!

I have contacted DCL and I am waiting to get a date. If your name is on the list of interested people (on the first page of this thread, under chocolate tasting), please send me a PM and let me know if you are still interested (or not).

I know that many of us have multiple events planned so if someone has a conflict when we find out the date, please let me know and I will bump up the next person on the waitlist.

LOL I think there is something seriously wrong with the weather here! I have never known it to be this hot anywhere for so long (and no not complaining!) I do agree though with the Lancaster comment. My parents claimed it never stopped raining in Lancaster for 3 years as every time they visited it was wet!

We will certainly need to have a toast to Lancaster.

It did rain a LOT up there -- just part of Lancaster's special charm :) -- I remember sunny times too -- probably because I have so many happy memories from that time. :goodvibes

Looks like Matt did well :thumbsup2 - rather him than me -- Bowland Tower looks the same as ever!

It's newbie booking day -- hope everyone got what they wanted.
The booking process was more complicated than I expected.

I have a Palo dinner booked -- looking forward to that. :cool1: I would have liked an earlier PAT -- but it sure does make it all seem very real!

Did you get the excursions you wanted? -- I still might change some -- decisions, decisions.

:goodvibes Fun times coming very soon. :goodvibes

Thanks for doing this GatorMomInNC -- the list for chocolate tasting was already closed when we booked the cruise -- do you think you might have room for anyone else on the wait list or is it already too long for that? I decided not to PM yet as I realise you might be inundated with PMs.

Hi there!
I just signed for the FE with my boy friend and our friends and wanted to know if there is a recipe exchange I could join?
And I'm curious, which excursion did you choose? There is so much choice and all seems so enjoyable!

Thank you so much for your time,
Have a nice day!
