The MAGIC is Back!!! - 6th Sept 2014 WBTA - Come & join the fun! - PART 2

Hi there! I live just outside of London & have worked in Central London all my adult life. So hopefully I should be able to help! ;)

What sights are you most interested in seeing?

What interests you?

Look forward to chatting about my lovely city :)

Michala

I'm a big history and theatre buff, so the main things on my must see list are Westminster Abbey, the Tower, and the National Portrait Gallery. I also really want to see a show at the National Theatre, if that works out. I've become a huge fan of the National Theatre Live showings at our local art museum.

Oh, and in honor of one of my favorite Disney movies (Bedknobs & Broomsticks), I want to go to Portabello Road.

Thank you again for your help!

Our next visit will be Easter, going down for 2 nights to see 2 West end shows plus sightseeing. Have tickets for Jersey Boys and charlie & the Chocolate Factory.

I would love to hear (read) your review of those shows. I've heard wonderful things about Jersey Boys and I can only imagine that Charlie & the Chocolate Factory would translate rather well to the stage. I hope you and your family enjoy the shows!

Just off the phone with DCL to discuss a few reservations, and asked about my own WBTA at the end regarding the previous question of which nights are slated to be formal nights, Pirate night, etc. Everything is still "TBA" at this point. We are still 26-ish weeks away so we will probably learn more towards PIF date. :thumbsup2

Thanks for asking the London question previously! That info is helpful several supplied. :) That is one of our pre-cruise stops as well after Edinburgh to visit dear friends we met on WBTA 2011. London will only be about 3 days before heading to Prague though, so we really have to pick and choose (with kiddos ages 7 and 4, and I pray we are light packers since I'm flying solo with them at this point in time since hubby is flying standby!) I do know an aviation museum north of London with WWII aircraft is on our to-do list though (we will have a car as we meander our way from Edinburgh to London, stopping to see a childhood friend who lives near York along the way).

I will try remember to post links to the reviews, don't know if you know but our Son(Mathew Gillings) writes theatre reviews for a local online magazine, quite a few of these are his http://www.on-magazine.co.uk/category/arts/yorkshire-theatre/
He also reviewed this cottage last year for them, we had a great night there http://www.on-magazine.co.uk/travel/yorkshire-reviews/foxglove-cottage-hutton-buscel/
More reviews and articles he has written for The National Student. http://www.thenationalstudent.com/Author/Mathew_Gillings

Duxford Imperial War Museum ( think that's where you mean) is currently closed due to damage, caused by recent bad weather here, sure it will be open by August though :goodvibes

We visited Harry Potter Studios recently and would reccomend a visit there for anyone who's in to HP, your children may be a bit young for HP though Mandygirl.

How about the London Eye, hopefully we'll have good weather in August :rotfl2: and the views over London are great, also Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels. If weather not so good the Natural History Museum is free to get in.

Hello fellow transatlantic cruisers! I am Claire -- my DH John and I have this cruise booked. We are Cat 5A -- but #GTY -- so no stateroom number as yet.

We are long term Disney fans -- many, many trips to WDW -- a lifetimes worth for me and many since our honeymoon in 1999 for DH. I am a long time member of the DIS too -- but have not posted for a LONG time.

Though we have been to WDW many times, we have never cruised before -- with DCL or any other line -- so we have much to learn! I just hope we love it as much as the many repeat cruisers on this thread do!
We are really looking forward to the trip -- but do wonder if 14 nights might be too long for a first try at cruising.

I think I have sent a message to join the Facebook group.
It looks like most of the lists for the mixology and stuff are pretty full with us joining this great party so late - looks like many of you folks have been busy planning all this for well over a year -- what fun!

I think this post is getting rather long -- looking forward to following along with the chat here as the trip gets nearer and great to 'meet' you all on the thread.

For the Roll Call -

Claire4dpins:

I welcomed you on FB and just wanted to welcome you here on the DIS. As far as any of the activities planned (tastings, meets, etc) nothing is set in stone as of yet. Most things won't be finalized until after PIF and shortly before sailing. So PM the coordinator of any activity you want to join!!

Welcome! the only bad thing about starting with 14 nights is it will probably be hard to do less in the future :)

Thanks for the welcome scottishwee35, MagicMe & Pinkocto!

I think you are right -- I may become addicted -- before even going on my first cruise! I scared my husband today telling him about the rumors of the Magic Norway cruise -- he said 'we have to wait and see how we like our first sailing before thinking about another one!'

I think the vibe of the thread is rubbing off on me already! :goodvibes

I will take I good look at all the lists of activities MagicMe and PM the organizers to see if there is any more room -- the drink tastings sound very appealing!

:)

Silly American Question: Would that be the same Duxford air museum talked about in Cabin Pressure?

Silly American Question: Would that be the same Duxford air museum talked about in Cabin Pressure?

I'm not familiar with the programme; I'd imagine so as there's only one Duxford. Don't worry about 'silly' questions, I had to ask what a 'Tank Top' was so I could avoid wearing one in the MDRs :rotfl2::rotfl2:
