I wanted to post this on your TR but I know we're not suppose to get OT over there, unlike here , where there are 400 different things being talked about at the same time!

I just wanted to thank you, for sharing why you go to Disney as a family. It really touched me. You are a sweet spirit and it comes thru in your writing. It inspires me to be a kinder and more compassionate person.

thanks for sharing your trip and a little bit of yourself with us. :wave2:

Shhhh, I'm at work, nobody tell, 'kay?

So just read all those pages about southern food, and 'twas a great education. Chess pie? WHYYY? The pecans are the best part!

Anyway, it got me to thinking -- don't we have northern food? Horsegirl, AshClan, New England Eeyore, anyone? anyone?

All that comes to mind are Boston baked beans and New England boiled dinner and I can't stand either of those things.

And P.S. We have a Chick-fil-A in NH. It's on our SOUTHERN border, though, so maybe that counts. Never ate there, because I didn't know what it was.

Melonmom - Happy Birthday to YOU!!! 29 ! I bet you still have to show id when you order a drink ! Enjoy your Volvcano ! :bday:

Georgia A - I'm sorry your little one is sick. I know about that clingy stage, my 5 year old hasn't quite gotten out of it. It depends on the mood she's in, if I leave the room ,she hunts me down No matter where I am ! I've occasionally hidden in the bathroom, just to get 2 minutes to myself ! :rolleyes2

Minnie - I would do the long trip in July. You'll enjoy yourself more. If it gets too hot, go back to the pool , cool down and pick up again at night. It's a longer trip so you have plenty of time.

kpk89 - Me and DH are doing BWV too. First trip without the kids. EVER! We'll be celebrating 20 years in 5/2007... So I thought it would be a good idea to celebrate our anniversary a little earlier at the F&W F. I can't wait !
BTW - I'm reading your TR and it's really good. Although, I have a few votes myself for Meanest Mommy Ever! :cool1:

javamom - Thanks for the email. Can't wait to make my t-shirt! :Pinkbounc

Yzma and Kronk HI !! :wave2: I don't think we've spoken. Nice to see you here :)

Does everyone remember that stage that all kids go through when they are completely FIXATED on one parent - only that parent - no one else will do for anything? And, at the same time, they stop sleeping through the night for some reason?

Welcome to my life!

My darling, beautiful, adorable, full-of-life son thinks the sun rises and sets by me. This is a good thing, yes? Only between 7 am and 9 pm. The rest of the time it stinks! It really, really stinks when Mommy has a migraine.

Poor little man has bronchitis. He keeps waking himself up with his coughing. When this happens, he looks at the perpetual pallet on the floor beside his bed to see if I am keeping him company. What can I say? A double folded blanket is a LITTLE more comfortable than laying on the carpet! And, hey, it's good enough for Monks and Soldiers, so it's good enough for me. At least I have central heat and air.

It does NO GOOD for hubby to try to comfort him in the middle of the night. Then I have to listen to him wail "Mooooommmmmmeeeeeee" for 15 minutes before I can't stand it anymore and go in there. Well, upon my fourth trip to my son's room last night (at @ 2:30), I practically mowed down my 3 yr old girl who was headed to our bed b/c her brother woke her up. Funny, when I told her to go back to her own bed, she started whining that she wanted to sleep with Daaaaddeeeee.

YOU, want to sleep with Daddy? So do I !!!!

I gave her the choice of her own bed or the floor with me -

What kind of crack was I smoking last night? The right answer is to let her wake up her father so that we can all be miserable, right? Noooooo. I am a thoughtful and loving wife. And my brain doesn't function well in the middle of the night anyway, or at all when I have that headache.

So in we troop to little man's room. The princess immediately flops down in the middle of my very small pallet. Scooch, sissy!

Little man states definitively: "Wan go-gurt! Wan choc-lot!"

"NO!" says I, "it's time for night-night! No yogurt, no chocolate milk! Go to sleep!"

He flops in his bed, then decides that if SISSY gets to sleep down there with Mommy, then so should he! Rocket scientist that I am, it didn't occur to me that we could ALL move to Sissy's bed. So there we slept, on the floor, all three of us on a blanket pallet. For about 10 minutes. Then little man shoved me OFF the pallet.

Wait a second - that's MY bed! (I get a ‘lil grumpy at night.)

Hmmm, maybe I can leave them BOTH on the floor and go back to the pillow-top? No, b/c little man had to have his space, but wasn't asleep! Eyes wide open.

I scoop him up and head to my bed, leaving Sissy slumbering on the floor. (It was then @ 3:15)

I was somewhat vindicated when, a few minutes after taking the boy to bed, I looked over to see him suctioned, alien-like, on my husband's head.

Then I was punished for that evil thought when he realized that he was suctioned to Daddy instead of Mommy and immediately jumped hosts. Drat! You see, Daddy doesn't have nice, long hair to pull on when sucking the marrow from your bones in the middle of the night.

I gave up at 4:00. I kicked my husband, made him hold me while I cried for 30 seconds about having a headache and not getting to sleep. We ate go-gurt, drank choc-lot, and watched Wiggles. THEN little man went to sleep.

I blame it all on Daylight Savings Time.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

OMG, that is too funny. Okay, wait. Are we the same person? Only at our house, it's DD that is stuck to me 24/7. She has just started waking up in the middle of the night and she cannot go back to sleep unless she is firmly wedged right between DH and I in our bed. :confused3

I did the pallet thing too when DS was really little. We bought him one of those really cool car beds. You know, the big yellow one that looks kinda like a VW Bug. It had a sunroof and everything. I spent weeks redoing his room. It was picture perfect, looked like it should be in a magazine. He refused to sleep in that bed without me. So there I am, squishing my grown up woman body into this toddler sized car bed with my two year old son. Most nights we would up on a pallet on the floor. Soooooo glad those days are over. But now he's eight and I have noticed lately that he doesn't want to cuddle with his mom much anymore. Apparently, it's not cool. My little man is growing up. And yours will too. I know it's stressful, but cuddle that sweet little boy while you still can. They grow up way too fast.

Okay guys. I'm out. I have got to get packed for Destin.
If DH comes back and sees that I haven't started packing and I am on the computer yet again, it won't be pretty. He just doesn't understand that I had to get Part 17 up on my trip report before I left or my name would be mud.

I'll be thinkin' about yall while I'm laying out on the beach.

I'll be looking for a little of this :sunny:

And maybe doing a little bit of this
party0010.gif

And unfortunately, none of this :surfweb:

Alright - Jamal inspired us! Here's an addendum to our January trip report that we've been dying to share but thought we couldn't. We had the MOST AWESOME thing happen while we were there. We too got to experience the behind the stage meet with the cast of cinderellabration. W e were told it was a VERY special thing and not to mention it cause everybody didn't get to do it. But anyway, we got let int he wardrobe like door as well and almost fell over when we rounded the corner and there stood the entire cast! It was soooooo cool!

Jamal I'm so glad someone else has done this cause we have wanted to tell, but, as i said, thought we couldn't. Anyway, here's some pics form our experience...

Wesley and Cinderella and Prince Charming...

Wesley and Prince Phillip (his hero) and Princess Aurora (his favorite)

Wesley and Belle with the Beast Prince (Rhonda made me put this in again...)

And our personal favorite - Wesley and the entire crowd. How cool is this?!

Anyway, thanks for letting us share - finally!

Blessings!
Mark

How bout lobster and apple cobbler, those are kinda northern...but you are right. ooh ooh I just thought of 2- New England Clam chowda and whoppie pies! We don't nearly have the diversity up here, in food or people. :sad2: How bout tim hortons? mel should know about that too. But I don't think its quite a chicka fil-a....We do have grinders. Any ya'll southies know what they are? Your tr is rockin, girl! you must be psyched!

off to make dinner, or dial up dh and have him pick up the 'za!

Hi all,

Yup, I'm near you KP, North of Boston but south of Ashclan (if I remember what she posted). I don't know about New England food - I think of Fried clams maybe? (Woodman's anyone?) The Salem Willows are famous for their (American) Chop suey sandwich. And for the love of me I don't know why, but I know people who whenever they come down from Canada they have to have our Roast Beef sandwiches. Not that they're unique to here, but there is a roast beef place on every other corner where I live so it's certainly ubiquitous. Then you got your Maine blueberry pie, Plymouth cranberries, Vermont maple syrup, etc. You've got me thinking though...

MARKYMARK:

OMG did you see wesley's face in that Aurora picture?????? -+ :rotfl2:

did you teach him the word "hottie" or "melons" perhaps????

he looks like a kid who got caught with his hand in the candy jar!!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

he's like:

"how can I get this chick to show me some skin???'

and

"step of Prince Poo Poo, she's mine...."

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

men...and boys...and men....they are all the same!! pirate:

Great, Mark! When I saw your post I was so worried I had done something wrong but I promise not one person ever told us not to tell, take pics, or anything at all!! And, as you'll see later in the report, this was not the only one!

I love yours. I love seeing little Wesley beaming. It's also so interesting to compare the faces of the characters and see how they "change' over a couple of months:).

Horsegirl,
I thought about you all night after reading your complete TR. You are an inspiration.

MomofMNM, I am trying very hard to remember 29:) but I do remember being sad about my fading youth. Your thirties are bound to be full of rich experiences and even deeper bonds with those you love! Have a lovely cocktail or two...

He does know the word hottie! And even knows what it means! He has not learnd melons yet.

LOL

Blessings!
Mark

well either way he is incredibly adorable

and your pics are AMAZING!!!! WOW!!!!!!

did the big guy ever answer, huh???? How cool!!!!!!

Mark,

Those pics are AMAZING. So I guess Rhonda did get to meet her prince "close up", huh? Awesome! Wesley is just such a cutie! No wonder all the CMs love him.

Let's see, you guys have covered most of the northern food I think. Although I didn't even know that whoopie pies were a local food. How about Boston Scrod, or just about any other kind of seafood (Love me some fried clams....the Clam Box in Ipswich is my fav!), Grinders are NE? Of course, it's only a grinder if you put it in the oven. Otherwise, it's a sub! NE Boiled Dinners are awesome...but you have to use the "grey" corned beef, not the red. I'll have to think about it some more.

Chick-Fil-A - there are at least two of them around here, so it's not just a southern chain anymore. There is one at the Burlington Mall and one at the North Shore Mall in Peabody.

Okay, enough Boston/North Shore talk. Melonmom, hope your b-day dinner is fabulous. It's great to have a b-day on a weekend night! And celebrate 29! It's a great age, and 30 is the new 20, anyway!

Off to check out the latest TR updates!

crap Jamal

running to read your TR...I should be getting all hot n lovely for dh but I am DISing instead!!!

Thanks - I hope I, too, was not begging for cheese with that whine. I was actually trying to find the humor in it, but I think I probably failed to convey that. I can actually laugh about it a little now, since I have had another 800 mg Ibuprofin and some food. A nap would be better though, and since I don't think my boss would mind . . .

I get HORRIBLE migraines. I have since I was like 10. I found what sometimes works well for me is what I like to call my "cocktail". Three ibuprophen and 1 tylenol. I like to swap that out with Excedren(sp??) Migraine so by body doesn't get too used to the same thing. When I have a bad one, I asked DH for my "cocktail". Usually works....sometimes even without sleep. :goodvibes

MOMOFMNM--I hope you are having a truly spectacular birthday! :cheer2: Though I must say I thought at first people had thrown food at you. I wondered if it was some sort of bizarre school custom??? Oops, guess not!

Horsegirl--It is an honor to know you. :grouphug:

And maybe it is just me, probably is, but I really had to look to figure out what the first banana on Lala's post was doing. And my mind wasn't even in the gutter today. Perhaps I should go put my glasses on. Think that might help?

Mark your pictures are amazing! I think Wesley gives Prince Fibbitt a run for his princess! (My Syd calls Philip that). What a gift that you all got to experience that!

I did NOT know that whoopie pies are a northern thing. I've never been so proud to be a Yank! :rotfl2: Yeah, I forgot about lobster. yuk.

I need to catch up on reading Horsegirl's and Jamal's and nicolemarie's TR's. Oh and LaLa's!

The kids (well one anyway) are watching March of the Penguins. The filmography is so beautiful -- and I'll watch anything anything at all with Morgan Freeman narrating.

Everybody say TGIF!! Even though I have to work on Saturdays, it's just different.
