Alright - here's a question to make you go hmmm...

I've been checking on here off and on since all the controversy of yesterday. Today's my day off and I am doing house projects - expecially since Rhonda left to go to her moms to help her with a catering thing. So in between things, I've been checking.

I decided to read the Cuthbert trip report on the other board since everyone is complaining that they are fake. I have only read 2 - cause they were pretty much awful. But did anyone else notice that - at least through day 2 - every one of the moderators have responded about how good the posts are? With just a couple of other people? They (mods) are the only ones keeping these reports at the front of the list. I've never noticed every moderator posting on a trip report. What's up with that? Did they write this thing, or know who did? Those reports are awful. I don't get it.

Just thought I'd stir the pot a little bit...

I just went back and read the venting thread over there and it seems that perhaps notaprincess? I think that's her/his name had the same thought I did.

I know one person who was complaining. The mods had a post about being off topic and someone complained about trip reports that take too long or get off topic. I responded to them and said that I liked their asides and basically that was their business(the people who wrote the reports that is). Well let me tell you that those two posts were edited (not by me) and totally deleted.

Ok, first go up top where it says User CP (it is under where you see the thread you are in is listed), click on that. On the left you will see the control panel, click on edit profile. Under optional information there is Custom User Title and you will see a blank box, type what you want in there, but make sure you scroll all the way down to the bottom and click on save changes.

Ok. I did it too. I'm pretty freakin' proud of myself for that. I thought I was a blond luddite. I was wrong. I'm techno-Mel.

Mine, however... anywho: Her report is amazing and I don't want that little locky thing to discourage her. But... she's a cool chick. She's promised to continue. So... long live "Grubbin' and Boozin'"! I say.

Hey all. I was thinkin' a couple of things:

First... we need to RENAME this thread. I was inspired by ZZUB's last post and by Mr. Dan Murphy's comment that The Swan/Dolphin Cheerleaders, who got booted, started a new thread on the CB and it's still goin' strong. So... I was thinking that we should call ourselves and this thread : The Maelstromers ... well? Let's have a vote. All you Maestromers, out there, get in on this vote. 'Cause there seems to be plenty Maelstromers out there. I think.

Also, I think after our new title... we should have a theme song. This is my crappy attempt at that ~ To that famous tune we all know and LOVE:

Good Morning Fellow Maelstromers!

It is still morning on my coast. I'm so glad everyone has gathered over here. We're going to the doctors/hospital in a little while and I've been up for a while reading this. You guys make me smile when I need it.

Mel: your song. I love your song!

Javamom: congrats on the new job! I'm so happy for you. Seriously. I can't wait to read all about your adventures in the World. If you do make up some shirts, please let us know. I'd love to own one. I'd wear it with pride.

And a point of clarifcation: ANYONE can be a Maelstromer, even if you like the ride, Mark. Although the fact that you like the ride is cause for some concern, but that's really the topic of another thread. Even if you've never been on the ride. Maelstromers are Disers who read and write trip reports and feel some compulsion to join into the every day lives of not-such-complete strangers.

You just have to know the code.

Whenever someone says "Maelstrom,"

the proper response: "is a fastpass?!"

On a less jocular note: please pray for us today. Not a good day in the Zzub house. A lot of emotion.
