The Maelstromers... a FASTPASS! Part 2

Not open for further replies.
Well, good evening everyone. I was totally AWOL and feeling it today. Sick young'un. Not very sick, just a little fever, so I kept her home today. Well, didn't keep her home so much as took her shopping, but didn't leave her at school, which is the relevant thing.

So, because I will forget someone otherwise and don't want to hear the wailing, moaning and complaining, a general HELLO to everyone. Yes, that meant you.

PongoJen - bought myself a new bag today. Ralph Lauren, pink microfiber with some brown leather on the straps. It wasn't the bag I wanted. Our Stein Mart is closing up shop. I found a white canvas Coach with a dark leather bottom and a daisy keychain attached to it. It was adorable, but even at Stein Mart pricing (which is admittedly less than Coach) and with an extra 10% off, it was still way out of my acceptable price for a bag that my kids would probably draw on with a sharpie. But I was close to coveting. Not quite, but close.

Then I called my sis b/c I found some Minnie Dot fabric (which is sometimes difficult to locate) to see if she needed me to get her any. Yada Yada, come to find out that she is about to buy herself a Canon Rebel XT. Now I'm even closer to coveting. Sigh.

Materialism was doing me in today.

Then I thought of how many nights at my resort of choice the cost of that camera would buy me. I decided to try out my sis's camera in July when they visit before deciding if I should covet.

Sorry for rambling . . .

Maelstrom!

Coupla thoughts before I share my story. Later. Melonmommy has a crush on me again? Has she not yet learned her lesson? She dumped me! In front of everyone! The therapy has not helped with all the embarassment. Plus, I still have Pongo Jen! Sorry Melons. No amount of flat tummy or melon bandying will get me back!

LOL.

I hope that's at least remotely funny. I was trying to be funny. But I don't know that it actually worked. Oh well

I will share my story later tonight. But for now it's bath time and then game time with the boy. THEN SURVIVOR! Awwwwww yeah!

Blessings!
MarkyMark

I am exhausted! You guys kept me up way past my bedtime. :rotfl2:
That and the deep, dark depression I sunk into after Chris got the boot.
The good news is that I am not working tomorrow and so can rival horsey tonight burning away the midnight oil. But I think I will have to put a pot of hazelnut on first. :teeth:

Happy Mother's Day!

This is for the mothers who have sat up all night with sick toddlers in
their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry
Kool-Aid saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here."

Who have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who
can't be comforted.

This is for all the mothers who show up at work with spit-up in their hair
and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.

For all the mothers who run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween
costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T.

This is for the mothers who gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the
mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.

This is for the mothers whose priceless art collections are hanging on
their refrigerator doors.

And for all the mothers who froze their buns on metal bleachers at football
or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars.

And that when their kids asked, "Did you see me, Mom?" they could say, "Of
course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it.

This is for all the mothers who yell at their kids in the grocery store and
swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream
before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but
realize how child abuse happens.

This is for all the mothers who sat down with their children and explained
all about making babies. And for all the (grand)mothers who wanted to, but
just couldn't find the words.

This is for all the mothers who go hungry, so their children can eat.

For all the mothers who read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year.
And then read it again. "Just one more time."

This is for all the mothers who taught their children to tie their
shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for
Velcro instead.

This is for all the mothers who teach their sons to cook and their
daughters to sink a jump shot.

This is for every mother whose head turns automatically when a little voice
calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at
home -- or even away at college -- or have their own families.

This is for all the mothers who sent their kids to school with stomach
aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get
calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them
up. Right away.

This is for mothers whose children have gone astray, who can't find the
words to reach them.

For all the mothers who bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year
olds dye their hair green.

For all the mothers of the victims of recent school shootings, and the
mothers of those who did the shooting.

For the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their
TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.

This is for all the mothers who taught their children to be peaceful, and
now pray they come home safely from a war.

What makes a good Mother anyway? Is it patience? Compassion? Broad hips?

The ability to nurse a baby, cook dinner, and sew a button on a shirt, all
at the same time?

Or is it in her heart?

Is it the ache you feel when you watch your son or daughter disappear down
the street, walking to school alone for the very first time?

The jolt that takes you from sleep to dread, from bed to crib at 2 A.M. to
put your hand on the back of a sleeping baby?

The panic, years later, that comes again at 2 A.M. when you just want to
hear their key in the door and know they are safe again in your home?

Or the need to flee from wherever you are and hug your child when you hear
news of a fire, a car accident, a child dying?

The emotions of motherhood are universal and so our thoughts are for young
mothers stumbling through diaper changes and sleep deprivation . . . And
mature mothers learning to let go.

For working mothers and stay-at-home mothers.

Single mothers and married mothers.

Mothers with money, mothers without.

This is for you all. For all of us . . .

Hang in there. In the end we can only do the best we can. Tell them every
day that we love them. And pray. And never stop being a Mom . . .

Please pass along to all the Moms in your life.

"Home is what catches you when you fall - and we all fall."

Please pass this to a wonderful mother you know.

(I just did!)

OMG. I'm like Pooh, doing the ugly, snotty cry now. That was beautiful and heartbreaking all at the same time. Thanks for posting that.

Hey Polymelonmom: I'm right here Baby. Doing the ugly cry. But I'll slap ya through my tears. You and Sheridac too. Stand close together so I can get ya both at the same time.

((((((((((((((((slap))))))))))))))))))))))

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you've had a baby .

Somebody doesn't know that once you're a mother, "Normal," is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct ..

buddy1.jpg

Somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring ......

Somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver's permit.

buddy2.jpg

Somebody said if you're a "good" mother, your child will "turn out good."

Somebody thinks a child comes with directions and a guarantee.

Somebody said "good" mothers never raise their voices .....

Somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor's kitchen window.

Somebody said you don't need an education to be a mother.

Somebody never helped a fourth grader with her math.

Somebody said you can't love the fifth child as much as you love the first.

Somebody doesn't have five children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books ........

Somebody never had a child stuff beans up his nose or in his ears.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery .......

Somebody never watched her "baby" get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten.

or on a plane headed for military "boot camp."

Somebody said a mother can do her job with her eyes closed and one hand tied behind her back .......

Somebody never organized four giggling Brownies to sell cookies.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married ....

Somebody doesn't know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother's heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother's job is done when her last child leaves home ....

Somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don't need to tell her ........ Somebody isn't a mother.

Disney has thousands of job openings, come one, come all. Just don't expect to get paid a lot, LOL. Even paying anyone who hires on as a housekeeper a $1000 bonus, and a current castmember referring one $500. For your kids, starting at 15, quick service workers and lifeguards are highly desired and get bonuses too. ( I presume none of you want to flip burgers, lol).

Professional jobs available too, just not as many. We have anything from veterianarians to teachers to doctors, nurses, lawyers... and anything in between.
On the plus side, you get free admission a few times a year, and discounts and some other bennies (they tell us a lot) - the Disney difference.

PS: If you want to be a housekeeper, please let me know so I can get my $500 referral bonus :cool1:

La La you made me cry. It was the edit.

Thank you Horseygirl, for showing me some love :) I love you too. Maybe we can discuss your intervention tonight in Chat? Or I know a coffee shop with wifi. Used to be the kids would limit my time online because they wanted to surf. But now we have more computers than people (hey the dog needs his online time too)...

I must not get zero sleep though because the Kinders can sense weakness. And they will eat me alive. Tomorrow. Because I am not very smart and agreed to sub the second to last week of school. I think I will make a batch of Cosmos tomorrow afternoon (so keep an eye out for any PUI or PWI )

I am going to put Chappie on ignore. Unless he says something very witty and funny soon. No more bank talk. pirate:

Time to feed the crew. Then I need to make a Micheal's run. Then I will be back.

Hmmm, $15/hr. That's more than I make where I work now and I've been there 15 years in Oct. Now how do I get past this Green Card problem?????

Last edited by LaLa : Today at 06:58 PM. Reason: KPK89's post got me in the mood. DH's uncle sent this email to all the mothers in our family last year for Mother's Day. He sent it out just two days before he was killed. He was an awesome man.

And you say I'm yellow. You, my friend, are the yellowist of them all.
