Oh, sorry, different stamps, different colors..........I used to use the letter and number stamps as well as animals, shapes..........I used it for learning/vocabulary as well as discipline.

Also, sometimes just for variety, I'd do a sticker or a drawing.........that was usually a happy face or a puppy dog as I can draw little else! :rotfl:

I drew the Cheshire cat smile yesterday with purple crayon.......I told the kids what it was and they loved it, but one parent sent a note........apparently she thought her kid did it and was trying to get away with something! Poor little guy!

Hi Mindy!!!!!!!!!!! Can't you just not stand it? What's the first thing you're going to do?

We always go the first night to Chef Mickey's, then watch the fireworks from the balcony under the monorail, then ride in the cab around. We love seeing the lit up castle........our first night, the whole vacation stretched out in front of us!

:teeth: You're so clever, Paige!

Well, I'm tired so I'm heading off to bed. Looks like we're gonna have a super rainy weekend, so I"ll probably do some DISing this weekend. I've never experienced nonstop rain like this till I moved here. I love it as long as I'm inside.

Have a great night, Paige!

I also used a thinking map to help them realize effects and consequences. I used it today with my 4 boys.

Basically, it has two rectangles on one side, a square in the middle and two rectangles on the other side. I would have the child sit down to draw what had happened in the large middle square. This has the child "sit out" from the situation without it being like traditional time out, which I feel is trivial at best, punitive at worst. Also lets the child express themselves in a more acceptable way.

Then, I would help the child identify what made them want to do that, and we'd write two possible CAUSES of their behavior in the left hand rectangles.......such as, I wanted the toy he had and I watched a fighting movie last night..........I always let them tell me the first one, which would be the immediate cause (I wanted the toy) and then I helped them think of why they'd be more impulsive/aggressive than usual (I watched a fight movie last night). I never gave words, just asked "Why do you think you're so grumpy? What happened before school/this morning/last night?" and they usually got it on their own.

Then, they had to think of a consequence to THEM in one of the right hand rectangles (I had to say sorry, I'm going to get a spanking), and, this is the hardest part, consequences to OTHERS. Usually it would be (I made Jimmy cry) but sometimes it could be (I made everybody stop learning and watch me instead).

I feel the causes and consequences were important for them to recognize. Also, the act of HAVING to tell you and HAVING to draw what THEY did, makes them take responsibility for their actions.............as you know, they try to make it someone else's fault.........this thinking map won't let that happen.

Good idea!!

Paige, I responded to the PM (I think) but then it blinked off the screen. UGH. I sometimes long for a good old pen and pad of paper!!

Hi Paige! I'm going to relax by the pool and then have dinner at Blue Zoo and then if I'm still awake some karaoke at Kimono's! I can't wait!!! The magic awaits me!

Bonnie! So sad we missed each other again! We've gotta stop doing that! Hopefully when I get back I'll catch you

Hi Cy!
Hi Horned King! I've heard so much about you yet I've never caught you online. How are things?

Princess...Good to meet you too
Jay thanks!
So far so good we have a week and a half under our belts and all is well.
Hardest part is keeping up with the lesson plans. it's easy for me to go in and get teh kids making fun stuff and learning about art and everything( I tie all my lessons into their core subjects) the hard part is keeping up with the paperwork part to keep the Admin happy!
