Okay, mom calls and asks can Big Son be the bingo caller as we're going to play black out bingo. I said sure. She said whoever wins it doesn't have to take a number for a turn in Dirty Santa and can choose any of the gifts they want. I say, well, he's in Dirty Santa this year. She's like, he can't be in it, it's for the grown-ups. I told her Kally was in it last year at his age, and both mom and I had promised it to him last year for this year. He's bought a gift for it and he wants to do it. So she says he can't, as he was int he children's drawing gifts. I said, what do the drawing gifts (everyone has someone's name and buys for them) have to do with Dirty Santa? They're two separate gifts. She says, you can't be int he children's drawing and play Dirty Santa. I reminded her again, he'd been promised and had looked forward to it for a whole year. So finally she says okay and he can still call the Bingo if he doesn't want to play the blackout.
Then she calls me back. My cousin is bringing a new stepgranddaughter. SGD is 12. If Big Son will be in Dirty Santa, then so should SGD. Okay, what's the problem? They don't want SGD in it. So don't put her in right? No, they want Big Son OUT of it. They say if they put in SGD then nephew who is 9 will want to do it, because he THINKS he's as big as SGD. Well, he's not, right? Tell him no. They don't want to do that. I said, that's ridiculous Little Son THINKS he's as big as Big son, but I don't insist he do the same things. So finally, they very generously decide Big Son CAN be in Dirty Santa, but since they don't want SGD in, they want HER to call the bingo. Again, my son has been told he will be the caller. Fine, then, I"ll disappoint my kid so they can get what they want. AAAAAAAAGGGGGHHHHHH!
Rant over. And we aren't going next year.
