The LUCKY Muffin Spoke to Me - Halloween at WDW & Summer 2011 at DLR - 01/09/11

Followed you over here from my PTR and love the story about the hidden Mickey muffin...it was definitely a sign! Hope you have fun at MNSSHP and Food and Wine! They are two things I really want to do, but being a teacher, I can't really take the time off to do them. I subbed to this thread, so I'll be looking for some new posts soon! :goodvibes:

That's exactly why we are going this year! When DH finally gets a full-time job, we won't be able to go then, either. I know he'd much rather find a teaching job than go to WDW during Halloween this fall, but I know things happen for a reason at the right time! We'll enjoy this year, and hopefully he'll get something next year!

Okay, I'm all caught up!! That's so exciting to get to experience two DVC resorts in one trip! I'm going to send you a PM requesting info about who you booked from-- we'd really love to rent points for our next trip!
I've never done the carriage ride-- sounds like fun, though-- but the CS places I'd recommend are definitely WPE, and we honestly LOVED Pizza Planet! We really like Columbia Harbour House, too, and Cosmic Rays.

Hi! I just PM'd you back!

Yay, the haunted carriage ride sounds like so much fun, I don't think it will be corny, come on, it's Disney, it has to be good! :cool1: Hope you get your Sleepy Hollow story, that sounds so cool!

I love the boat from MK to WL and FW, it's such a nice ride and so relaxing. From what I remember when I stayed at WL it goes to WL first then to FW, I think it's about a 5 minute trip to each place. The boat is one of the reasons I love WL so much! :lovestruc

I didn't know Universal didn't have their hours out yet, I haven't even looked! I'm planning to go there one day in November too, but I didn't even think to look to see if park hours were out yet, I just assumed they were! Watch the day I'm thinking of going they will be closing really early or something!

I think I might stick with the boat idea after everyone has said such great things about it! I think MK is the furthest park from AKV, though. I'll definitely have to work out timing.

Yeah, US didn't even have September hours up when I checked a couple of days ago. They definitely don't put their hours up as early as WDW, which drives me nuts! Just be forewarned that their hours are really, really different than WDW. During off-time, they close the parks at 5pm-6pm. It's a WHOLE different world! That's why I'm waiting on the stupid calendar! One day can be a couple of hours difference for them!

The trail if you walk is about 10 min. then you will take the internal bus to carriage ride. The boat ride from Wilderness lodge to Ft. Wilderness is about 5 or 10 min.

Thanks so much for the advice!

Congrats on your booking! :thumbsup2 I can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Thanks!! I'm looking forward to trying something new and seeing some new areas of WDW!

I know several of you are big animal lovers like we are, so please send some good thoughts/prayers/pixie dust our way tomorrow!

My little lady has to go get fixed tomorrow morning. She's my miracle puppy and the most spoiled rotten dog we've ever had. (Which, is saying a lot because DH and I both grew up with spoiled dogs!) But, I got Wendy spur of the moment. (Yes, she's named after Peter Pan's Wendy!)

I had been looking at her breed for a while but we weren't planning on getting another animal any time soon. We have two labs (who have lived at grandma/grandpa's house since we got them because they were two big for our apartment) and two cats. We had no plans on adding another fur-baby for a while, but we went to a craft fair/trade show in January, and this little baby looked at me with these eyes that melted my heart. (For any of you SATC fans, she's Charlotte's dog, like Elizabeth Taylor. Wendy is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.)

So, long, long story short, we brought her home and have spent a small fortune on her. She had kennel cough, pneumonia, and an issue with her trachea that basically caused her to have difficulty breathing. We had to take her to our vet and a specialist several times, and both of them told us most people wouldn't have dealt with it and sent her back to the breeder. We called the breeder and she had this "whatever" attitude and told us we could trade her out for another dog, but she wouldn't help us with the vet bills. What? I am NOT trading out my baby! You wouldn't do that to a human baby! It's wrong! We had a lot of go-around with this awful woman!! She basically told us she'd use Wendy as a breeding machine (which her trachea issue is congenital and her parents should have NEVER been bread) or "take care of her!"

But, after 2 months of being deathly ill, Wendy finally showed improvement and she's now completely good to go! The vet said she is lucky to be here!

But, being the over-protective mommy I am and the fact that this will be the first time they put her under after all of the breathing issues, I'm stressing about my little girl. So please send some love to my puppy tomorrow!!

I'll have to post pics of our other babies soon, too! I'm such an animal lover!

OMG Wendy is SOOOO cute! :lovestruc I absolutely love cavaliers, I want one so bad, but I can't have a dog right now, since I have 3 spoiled cats who would hate me if I brought a dog into my house! But when I do get a dog someday, it will be a cavalier, they are the cutest! I hope everything goes ok with her getting fixed , and I'm sorry she had so many health problems. :( I can't believe the breeder wanted you to trade her for another dog, I could never do that! :)

They're great dogs, but hyper little puppies! I'm hoping this might calm her down a bit. She's got the vet's office so fooled, though. She was bounding all over my lap in the car, we walk in there, and she's the most well-behaved pup you've ever seen. I told her if we'd bred her, she'd be an awesome sales girl. Haha. (We aren't going to breed her because of the congenital issues. I couldn't put someone else through what we've dealt with.)

I know! I asked that woman if she'd trade out a sick child and she didn't respond. So many breeders shouldn't be allowed in the breeding world anymore!!!

Wendy is beautiful and you did a wonderful thing by saving her life. After working in animal rescue for so long I've grown to really dislike breeders. Especially after watching a special on Animal Planet about puppy mills. I know there are responsible breeders out there thar are not horrible people, but I have yet to meet one. To me, responsible means not creating more when 4 million are euthanized each year in shelters. But that's just me. ;)

I agree with you 100%!!!! Most of our dogs have always been dumped on our road; my parents live in the country, so people are always dumping pups/kittens and dogs out there. My parents have always rescued the ones that ended up in front of our house!

Both of our cats were rescues, too. I feel like I find an animal at the right time for a reason; although we paid for Wendy, we hadn't planned on getting a dog, so I think we came across her for a reason. I can't imagine what anyone else would've done with her if we hadn't brought her home! She's my stubborn, spoiled-rotten, crazy little girl that I can't imagine not having as a member of our family now!

I have a lot of respect for you for working in animal rescue! That takes wonderful, special people to do!

It's emotionally taxing sometimes but the reward is great. You and your family are great people for taking the animals dumped on your street. That's how we got one of our cats when I was younger. My mom kept telling me not to feed her when we found her in our garage but I couldn't let her starve!

I agree with you that we come across them at a specific time for a reason...that's how I got my puppy! I'd been trying to adopt for a year and it just didn't work out. I just needed to wait for the right one to come along! She was found under a shed in TN about two weeks before the flooding started. Talk about just in time!

Good luck with Wendy's spay! I'm praying for her!

AWWWWW, Wendy is such a cute lil princess!!!! princess:princess:
i have a pembroke welsh corgi named Journey and she has had a few health problems herself. nothing as serious as what youve been through tho! oh what a NASTY breeder! that lady has now rite to breed or raise animals with her additude!!

Oh my gosh, what a cute furbaby!! :goodvibes
Those eyes are just beautiful! And the little princess knows she's cute! ;) She REALLY knows how to pose for the camera!

Sending lots of pixie dust for her to get through everything tomorrow!

For all of you that think this little pup is so adorable are missing the most important part of the description. She is spoiled rotten (not entirely anyone single person's fault). But let me paint a picture for those of you who have looked at the pictures.....

Wendy is about thigh high when she stands on her hind legs, i.e. just the height to get her little head to perch on top of the dinner table. Last night we were having hamburgers and she sneaked behind Mom and stole half of her hamburger bun while Mom was trying to get the burger. for those of you wondering she didn't get in trouble and later stole a piece of lettuce off another plate the same way.

A couple weeks ago Dad was out of town and the other three of us sat down for breakfast. Well little miss royalty/model/rotten whined and whined until we set her in a chair at the table with us, where she proceeded to eat pancakes off the table with us. Now she gets pancakes when we do and thinks she has the right to her own private chair while we eat dinner.
And finally, anytime someone, we won't mention any names, goes to the store unsupervised guess who comes home with a new toy???? It is not DW or DH I'll say that much.

But an update on her condition she is doing well, awake, and almost ready to come home from her surgery....:dance3: (happy dance)
We will see if she calms down. Any odds takers?

No matter the out come though we will still adore her!!!!!!

It's terrible having a pet with health problems; it's not like they can tell you if they feel better or if what you're doing is working! I hope your Journey is doing great!!!

I know; she's a diva! I've never had a dog like her; if I pull out the camera, she literally will stop what she's doing and pose. (That's about the only time she sits still.)

Haha; yes, she is rotten. I swear she thinks she is a person. She sits in a chair to eat sometimes, but she HATES eating anything off of the floor. She gets her dog food on the floor, but gets to sit in her chair every once in a while for pancakes. It's like a baby; you take a bite, then rip a piece off of one for her (without the syrup, of course.) Everyone that has seen her cracks up laughing. I need to send it in to something; she's still as can be and just stays there, waiting on you to give her a piece.

She normally doesn't try to steal things during dinner, so I'm pretty sure she was milking the surgery for every thing it was worth last night.

And, her dad there (denying the toys) is the one that brings her something home everytime he goes grocery shopping. He's not really allowed to go grocery shopping without me anymore. Haha.

She's also a health freak, too. Her favorite snacks are raw carrots (they have to be cleaned), fresh pineapple, and avacado. She's nuts.

But, like DH said, she is doing well! We're hoping to bring her home this evening!

I hope that Wendy feels better soon. I cried for hours when Vida and Bella got spayed!

:rotfl2: We had a dog that was given her own chair at the table but thankfully my mom never let her have her own plate! She was a husky though and considerably bigger than Wendy so feel lucky! She stole a piece of chocolate cake from my sister once. But we did have a cat who was a food thief LOL she swiped a meatball and a cheeseburger from my brother's plate lol

I'll be thinking about her as I go to the vet with Timon tomorow.

Love ya, girlie!

Thank you, lady! My mom cried this morning, too. We're such big babies. Haha.

Haha. She doesn't get a plate, either. She sits there about 6 inches back from the table in her chair and just waits, patiently.

That's too funny about the cat! My cats like the crust off of toast, and will beg for deli meat, but that's pretty much it. Animals do the funniest things, sometimes!

I'll be thinking about her as I go to the vet with Timon tomorow.

Let me know how Mr. Timon does, too!!

Wendy just got home! She's angry, but I'm sure she'll get over it. They didn't put a cone on her, so hopefully that doesn't backfire as crazy as she is!!

:cloud9:

Lol, that is so cute that Wendy likes to sit at the table! :rotfl: I'm glad her surgery went well and she will be home soon! :cool1:

Hope your little Wendy is doing well. We just got our Shih-poo fixed last Wednesday, actually, and she's bounced back remarkably quickly. She was pretty out of it for the first couple of days, but now we have to keep her from playing around too much with my Golden Retriever so that she doesn't rip her stitches...hahaha just as I typed that, she came over, jumped up, and poked the Golden with her cone (you all know what that is if you've had a dog fixed!), trying to start something. Puppies!:dog:

Aww, hope your pup is well! We have the most spoiled rotten basset hound EVER-- Daisy Lou is 13 and still acts like a baby! She has the best facial expressions, too. I'm sure you can relate-- your dog just looks at you and you know she's thinking all kinds of thoughts!

I'm not sure if it's cute, or means she's just too rotten. Haha.

They actually didn't put a cone on her, which I was a bit concerned about. She's done OK without it so far, so hopefully that'll continue!

Too funny about your babies! Animals are the cutest, funniest things sometimes!

Haha. I definitely understand! (Obviously, so does DH since he doesn't go shopping without bringing her something back.)
