Maybe it has something to do with Daddy's Little Girls and Momma's Boys? Cuz you never hear of Momma's Girls and Daddy's Boys.
Good point. I think for me it's because she is just like me and tries to pull the same stuff I did. She is out of luck, BTDT.

Marinaded meat tonight....with rice and broccoli. I use London Broil....

Domino's. Pepperoni, Bacon, Xtra Cheese. Cheesy bread. Cinnasticks. DH is picking it up. I don't get delivery down here. We're way out in the boonies.

LOL, quick question...is DH such a bad cook that you can't tell, or are you just too much of a LOSER to get up and look at what he's doing?

If my DH cooked anything I'd fall over in shock!

OK...started a thread about the boy/girl thing.

DH has his moments. Well, he has certain area's that are his "department". Grilling, for example. Steaks are another. He likes his seafood better than he likes mine (although I don't) so I let him cook that too.

Grilling is my department. He will walk away and stuff starts flaming. It's not good.

I have only been cooking for about 7 years.

Hi fellow losers.....

I'M DONE!!!!! the party's OVER!!

I worked all morning, although through some stroke of WINNER mommy preparedness throughout the week, I didn't have a panic to the last minute cleaning frenzy. It's easy when all the messes are just conveniently moved into other rooms with locked doors. And DH helped move his crap that was completely covering the dining room table AND grunt stuff like putting the leaves in the table and getting folding chairs in from the garage. He also HELPED SERVING!!!(who are you and what have you done with my DH??doesn't matter, just keep helping!)

I forgot to serve the ice cream, bought WAYYY too much crappy, cheap pizza, and didn't get a chance to write down all the gifts/givers for thank you notes. So I am relying on the memory of an 8 year old to send thank you notes...this is one "PERFECT MOMMY " thing I am adament about ..don't kick me out..I bought the kind of notes where he just has to fill in a couple of blanks..the (minimal) effort is there.

I think the kids had a good time. I had a treasure hunt with clues that I hid around the little lake we have in our subdivision. Ended with little individual treasure chests from Target filled with whatever gold/silver stuff I could find. Beads, rings, hersey kisses, plastic coins, chocolate gold coins. I even stretched the imagination and bought those smooshed glass marbles that people use in vases to represent jewels. I found some weird silver dollar sized glass medallion type marble thingies with a sun imprinted on them..looked kinda like a "coin", from the "sorta" dollar store/import store. My DS8 thought those were the coolest things he ever saw. He said, "Thank you God for Mommy buying those cool things.":lovestruc So I guess that's why I went through all this trouble.

YAY!!:dance3: It's over...How long do you think I can call a recovery period?

At LEAST two weeks...

OK...off to feed the family...maybe even talk to them a little....see everyone later.

Good job!

Now, can you convince me to have one for DS5? He got an invitation to one and was thrilled. I am trying to psyche myself up for one this year.

Slowly throughout the years, mine has relinquished many of the chores that were his. Washing the floors, walking HIS dog, driving everywhere, and grilling, among other things. What's wrong with me??? How did I let it come to this?

Actually I have a knack for grilling. I can usually get it to the right doneness, whatever it is, and still have it be juicy. I'm kind of a control freak with cooking..I want to decide what we are having for dinner most nights, and he doesn't care. He cooked dinner for me ONCE early on in the 21 years we have been married. It was "Texas Tommies" ?? as he called them.. Hot dogs slit down the length with a piece of cheese in it, wrapped with bacon cooked in the toaster oven...:confused3 I never asked him to cook for me again. So once again...it worked, to quote Bill Cosby..loser dad of all times.."she sent me to my room, which is where I wanted to be in the first place."

Way to go:woohoo:

I was thinking about you and your party today.

Where did you find the thank yous with minimal things to fill in, I want those bc all DS5 is going to do is sign his name.

My friend just dropped DS10 off from an ice skating outing for her son's bday and told me that one of the kids threw up as they were leaving the ice rink, so now I have to worry if DS will get this stupid stomach bug:sick: Errr! Not until after GP day at school tom, please.

Anyone want to take bets he gets it on Friday bc he is off from school. This kid ALWAYS get sick on weekends and holidays that is why he has had perfect attendance for 3 years (well not really last year bc we did WDW but not bc he was sick) this is the kid with allergies and cough variant asthma too. He gets sick just not during the school week it is bizarre:confused3

DH can be tough on the boys esp if he spent a lot of time showing them something (like sports stuff) and then they do the exact oppostie on the field or wherever.

Congrats to Mkrop and hrh_disney_queen for successful parties and to Thats_for_Shore for surviving another hunting season! Congrats to all of us for food in the house, take out or otherwise, and enough TP (or Kleenex) in the cupboard.

Joan

Thanks! I'm not sure about convincing you...my suggestion of what works best is to keep it simple. My kids were just thrilled to all be together..they had the upstairs to kick around in, played games...the treasure hunt and pinata (pull strings..) were time fillers. they weren't difficult, and they each took about 1/2 hour...simple, simple, simple. I am just the type to stress myself out. plus I never clean my house, so the accumulated effect of that since the last time I had to clean was monumental.

Thanks for your good thoughts today, I'm sure they helped! I got the blank thank-yous at Target. they have a blank for the gift and a blank for the name. can't get much simpler than that. And since we have YET to receive a thank-you note from the last couple of parties we went too, I think it's pretty darn good enough..

One of my guests couldn't come today because he came down with throwing up and feeling bad overnight. DH overheard the conversation and said, "Haven't you heard about this nasty virus out there? It's sending some kids to the hospital from dehydration because they can't even keep down water!" I hadn't heard about it all..not surprising. but DH knowing anything about what's going on is almost frightening..:scared1: I hope your DS manages to stay away from this one...mine too!

Okay, DH & I had our steak and potato for dinner. The boys (who think steak is YUCK) had ABCs and 123s spaghetti and carrots (with ketchup to dunk them in.

DH is giving them a bath.

Everyone survived another day.

My job is done.

Goodnight.
