A Lorax movie? That would be awesome! The Lorax is one of my favorites too, Kevin. I use it as a teaching tool for my preschool class when we are talking about conservation and what not..and yes I teach conservation and recycling and stewardship to my 3 year old class :)When I figure out how to post photos I'll post my class's interpretations of truffle trees!

There are rumblings that the Once-ler won't be the mysterious hands from inside the window, but shown as a complete character. "Full frontal", as it were.

The Lorax was one of my fave Seuss books. Used to check it out of the library all the time.

I would be wholeheartedly disappointed if The Onceler is shown as something more than hands.

I have generally found that when Dr. Seuss movies are translated to the big screen, they loose a lot of what made them special and heart-wrenching. They add a lot of comedy for the little ones and not enough plot to honestly fill 70 plus minutes. I much preferred the older tradition of turning Dr. Seuss' books into short animated specials (such as the Grinch Christmas tv special with Borris Karloff as the narrator). These are true enough to the books that I feel comfortable showing them in my Kindergarten classroom as edu-tainment, as opposed to the Jim Carey Horton movie, that moved too far from the book.

I'll step off my box now, and go back to lurking.

Here Here!

I could not agree more.:thumbsup2

Indeed.

The less said about Mike Myers as "The Cat in the Hat" the better.... :sad2:

I remember back in the elementary school days I had a Lorax T-shirt. It was very cool : Had him standing the middle of a bunch of tall trees with, "I am The Lorax and I speak for the trees" written across the top of it...

Now get this: I wore it to school one day and got sent to the Principal's office because my teacher thought it was some sort of drug reference ! The Lorax was a hippy and those "trees" were clearly pot plants !

I still remember my Mom laughing hysterically at this when the principal called her at work.

I'd love this shirt.

I have Cat in the Hat, The Lorax and The Sneetches on DVD. The old cartoons and I love them. The live movies were AWFUL. The Grinch was just disturbing and I may NEVER get the ugly image of Alec Baldwin in Cat in the Hat out of my head. I can't believe they are going to ruin The Lorax now.
How earth could the Onceler be more than hands? :sad2: Is Dr. Geisel's wife still around? I'm surprised she is letting them do it.
