I went to see the Lion King last night... I Loved It.
The girl that played Rafiki stole the show. Her name is Phindile Mkhize
Has anyone here seen this play, and what did you think?

We had balcony seats when we saw it the first time a couple years ago. Recently had the chance to take over 4th row center seats for a couple who couldn't go (at a very good price). It's an amazing show. I love it.

This was the first time we've had a show stopped for a technical difficulty. Adult Simba's safety rigging got stuck and left him hanging in mid air when they removed the "cliff" after Scar's death. He hung there swinging around for a while, then crossed his ankles, and arms over his chest, waiting. They dropped the curtain, announced a technical delay and everyone sat there in silent darkness for several minutes. Then they continued the show. Very strange, but still an excellent performance from great seats. :thumbsup2

YES!! As you can see in my avatar, I LOVED IT!! :thumbsup2

We saw it at the Fox Theater here in St. Louis, and it was the most amazing stage production we have ever seen! We were 4th row, a little left of center, and right on one of the isles where the characters come down on several occasions throughout the show.

DPartner Jen was in tears by the end of the first act, and I was in tears by the end of the last. We obviously both knew the story of The Lion King, but the stage version is just SO powerfully emotional, with the orchestra and the live percussion...it was amazing!! :thumbsup2

I've seen it in New York and here in Orlando, both times I loved it!

Funny story.

During the cast member previews at Animal Kingdom for the Lion King show the "tumble monkeys" didn't have their costumes, and they performed in red shorts and "wife beaters"!

All I can say is I enjpyed the preview! :rolleyes1

LOVE the stage show.

When Mufasa was formed in the "sky" on stage, I was blown away

Saw it on Broadway and LOVED it. I listen to the soundtrack. Endless Night is my favorite track....

I Love the Tumble Monkey's! WOuld love to watch them practice in little red shorts!!!! :thumbsup2

That's where we saw it. The Fox is a very cool place. Every time you go you notice something different.

I saw the touring production when it came to Raleigh and thought it was amazing. I agree, the way Mufasa's head was definitely a memorable moment. I also thought the way they did the Wildebeest stampede scene was pretty innovative.

As for Festival of the Lion King, Nakawa is often nice to look at, too. ;)
