The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

fun·ny1 –adjective 1.providing fun; causing amusement or laughter; amusing; comical: a funny remark; a funny person.

I thought it fit the definition quite well, I laughed.

Just another thing that's great about this country-we can have differences of opinion on what is funny and neither opinion is wrong.

Something in regards to the "segragated" threads over here. I lurk on the conservative board more then I post. I lurk because I share similiar ideas and thoughts of some of the more moderate conservatives. Also because now and then I do learn something I didn't know before.

What ticks me off is when the threads post like the "other side" is stupid or unintelligent. I really don't think that. I don't think people are going to vote for McCain because they are unable to think for themselves and vice versa. It is amazing to me the anger and superiority that other people think they have over other posters. None of us are political masterminds over here - the least we could do is treat everyone with respect.

Good for you.

Ya know - I could have posted about it on the Conservative thread but I didn't. I know it was a "joke" and I didn't want to interupt your fun. However I don't find it funny. Humor is subjective to the audience - in my case - NOT FUNNY.

But please continue to defend the lame joke here, you are more then welcome.

I don't like it when either side does that, and I've seen it on both. It's tempting to do, but you are right-we need to respect each other's opinions. We have to assume that everyone has put the same thought and effort into choosing their positions as we have put into ours.

Sorry, that's one helluva an assumption. Have you seen some of these positions from our friends on the other side of the aisle? These people are still fighting minimum wage and safety standards.

I didn't say it would be easy....;)

Did anyone watch the Daily Show last night? They had a Rebulican Senator from Nebraska Chuck Hagel on last night. He went against the party in regards to the war in Iraq and he had some truly awesome things to say about what we need to be doing to move forward rather then remain stagnant. Which is what I think is happening.

Because of this, many independent truckers are organizing a nationwide strike starting April 1 through April 3. After paying their monthly truck note, then having to deal with soaring diesel prices, independent truckers said they don’t have any money to support their families or pay bills.

"Make a stand, we're going to unite. It’s something we've needed to do," said truck driver Carla Skipworth.

Many truckers are spreading the word thorough Internet blogs and over their CB radios, encouraging everyone to put their trucks in park in order to send the message to U.S. oil companies and the federal government.

Most of the truckers who work for big companies get reimbursed for the fuel by their employer, but most independent truckers don’t. Those who do get just a small surcharge and they said they can't take it anymore.

"I’m going to sit right here to give support and try to get other people to support what we're standing for," Skipworth said.

Skipworth said she is supposed to be delivering a sound system and stage to a church in California for a concert on Tuesday. But she said it won’t make it because she won't be running.

Many truckers who work for companies do not plan to participate because their fuel is paid for by their employer. But Donald McGee said if his boss allows he'll join in.

"I’m willing to do that to get the fuel prices to go down," he said.

This is not the first time drivers have organized a strike, and many times it’s a small group that participates, but some unions are expecting a large number this time because of just how high diesel prices have reached.

Aren't you guys always saying that Obama supporters refuse to say that he's ever wrong on anything?

Well...he's wrong on that.

:teeth:
:duck:

I read about the trucker strike and I can't say that I blame them. These guys are so important and gas prices are pushing them to the edge. I wonder if this will also effect store prices?

Florida Republicans at their best:

Health Plans for Poor Face Big Cuts

TALLAHASSEE | Florida lawmakers could cut critical health care programs for some of the state's sickest and most vulnerable residents by $1 billion this spring, with potential impacts ranging from the loss of life-saving drugs for transplant patients to eliminating screening programs for children with cleft palates.

Not too many years ago, the Florida legislature and with Jeb Bush's full approval, pushed a law through that eliminated the intangibles tax on non-IRA stocks and bonds. They just couldn't live with the $500,000 exemption for a married couple. So they eliminated the tax.

So, now Republican lawmakers are proposing eliminating, hold on to your hat, Medicaid coverage for dentures and hearing aids to the poor. :scared:

What kind of sick *******s even think of these things? The next time a Republican tells you that they don't balance the budgets on the backs of the poor and elderly, tell them to look at their Republican comrades in the Republican led Florida legislatures.

This is the true face of the Republican party. Cut taxes on the wealthiest and screw the poor to make up for it. This entire proposal is sick and further indication of how low Republicans will go to cater to the rich.

Remember it when John McCain starts to look good.

Here's the best part: Hillary and her campaign goons are still claiming Obama is saying get out of the race.

Did she not learn from her Bosnia lies, pardon me, misspeaking or bad recollections because she was tired? Maybe someone ought to tell her this is the YouTube age. Somebody is always taking a picture.

The same people that say with a straight face that it's too bad that people didn't plan better for their old age so they wouldn't need Medicaid to cover their needs. They should get jobs at Walmart or Publix to get their dentures! Why should they expect decent hard working people to buy them teeth!

Florida's Republicans turned my Dad into a Democrat.

As he's on the Today show RIGHT NOW defending her right to stay in!

It's unbelievable to me that sick *******s like some of the Florida Republicans are running a government they despise and an institution they spit on.

After all, these are the people who claim government is evil, bad, the problem, and can't accomplish anything. The truth is these Republicans couldn't find their *** with both hands and a mirror. They've been wrong about everything from the effects of tax cuts for the wealthy (no investment, they just got richer), to the war, to cuts in social programs and their sorry list of non-achievements goes on.

Remember it when John McCain starts to look good.

Guaranteed, Hillary and her campaign will continue to say otherwise. She's on a roll in LaLa Land.

Has this thread also turned into a bash Hillary thread? No wonder I haven't posted here in quite some time. :sad2:
