The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

In other words I dont' think these two would be able to dance together - someone has to lead while the other follows.
There is that, but how many times does the VP come from the pool of previous candidates. Heck, Richardson's name had been floated around for VP for both Clinton and Obama until he recently picked a side. No one runs for president who is weak and whose eyes are not on the big prize.

That's better.

True.

Now keep in mind - I'm only old enough to have voted in the last 2 Presidential Elections. In 2000 I was 20 and voted for Bush, having no idea who Cheney was and really didn't care. Looked like another old guy to me. Then in 2004 I voted for Kerry/Edwards - I liked John Edwards, and truth be told he was my candidate of choice before he dropped out. But I still felt that in 2004 I was voting for Kerry.

So what I'm saying is - I've never really paid attention until now. I think Clinton and Obama both have a better chance of winning over McCain if they choose someone else besides themselves.

No it isn't. I prefer Diet Coke to Coke Zero. And what about the Pepsi lovers? That's it! We need a Coke/Pepsi ticket!

The one problem my husband has about WDW is that their is no Mountain Dew on property. ANYWHERE - even at the Hess gas stations - no pepsi products. After 2 days he gets the shakes

No offense to Clinton supporters, but I'm holding out for Mike Bloomberg. My thinking is he could not only bring disheartened Clinton followers back into the fold, but a fair share of Independents and Republicans as well. That's my dream ticket anyway.

So ... I guess I don't think much of that poll :rotfl:.

No, apparently not. ;) But if it looks like a combined ticket is the best way to win, that's the way I think it will go. I do think Richardson is the best VP candidate at the moment.

Personally, I was hoping for a Richardson/Obama or Richardson/Biden ticket at the start of this race. So that would make me happy. :dance3:

That's an interesting idea. I also think, if called on, Al Gore would take the VP again

Now there you go, getting nasty again. Why not take a page out of your own candidate's book and try not to insult Clinton? I don't insult Obama. I don't call him names. The difference between Obama/Clinton and Bush/Cheney is that with the Obama presidency we would have TWO intelligent people running the county and not just one.

Robin...I think you misinterpreted the comment...unless you think the poster was also comparing Obama to Shrub (and I don't think any Obama supporter is likely to do that, though it seems to be a theme with a few people on the Hillary thread, so I see where you may have made the mistake). All the comment meant was that she would be a very active Veep...not just someone that goes to state funerals.

As far as the VP spot goes, however, it ain't happenin'. Hillary pretty much killed any chance of it happening when she compared Obama unfavorably to John McCain.

HOWEVER...She could be put into Harry Reid's job, which is an awfully powerful position (and would give us an historic all-female leadership in Congress!!!). She may not want to take that, but, IMHO, it's the best she's going to possibly get out of this.

3) If I was Obama and Clinton my VP I would constantly feel that I needed to look over my shoulder. She would be vying for that top job. Of course I still think LBJ had something to do with the Kennedy assasination
Sorry but that's a bit bizarre. It's hard to believe how much some of you hate Hillary.

I'm going to keep hope alive that Hillary has a shot at the VP slot too. Many of you discount her chances and her help but as far as I know she still has the support of almost half the party members and she would bring that to the table. You keep saying the bit about "her poisoning the well"; well we don't all necessarily see it like that.

You know me well enough to know that I would never compare Obama to Shrub and to say that I read it over on the Hillary thread and am parroting it here is insulting.

If that's so, then my apologies to Laugh O. Grams. I thought that he was trying to say that Clinton would take the VP only if she thought she could run the show behind the scenes ala Darth Cheney.

I ask though, who wouldn't want an active VP?

I think that Al Gore was pretty active. Actually I think that most VP's get things done. Cheney, maybe not so much since he has such a tendency to vanish for long periods of time.

I don't hate Hillary! I'm going to put that in my signature line soon.

I didn't mean I think Hillary would attempt to assisinate Barrack - more like constantly undermind him to the administration and to the press.

No, you were right. That's is what I meant...although I don't see how that could be construed as being insulting to Hillary. It's just a feeling I get when considering her drive/passion for the top spot. I think she'd enjoy being viewed as a puppetmaster of sorts behind the scenes of an Obama presidency. The "Darth Cheney" slam, OTOH, was specifically directed at our current VP. I guess I could've said "Dick" Cheney, but I never like to miss a chance to take a jab at the current Adminstration.

Now see ... I don't see her doing that. How would that help the country? Or the party? Or even her individually? That's the kind of thing I am talking about when I say that people have demonized her.

Now that I could see. ;)

Seriously, she isn't likely to do that IMO. She's in a war of sorts now - she doesn't battle with people on her side.

I think we need some laughter here. I received the "Obama = anti-Christ" email this morning. Do people actually believe this crap? I find that thought hilarious, but I digress.

I'll let the nuts handle the "Obama = Anti-Christ" lunacy. This other email was the one I wanted to share:

Spend Your Tax rebate in America!

Tax Rebate

President George Bush said each one of us would get a $600.00 tax rebate.

It was previously slated to be $800.00, but they dropped it to a $600.00 tax rebate because of various budget problems.

Now, if we spend that money at Wal-Mart, all the money will go to China.

If we spend it on computers, most of the money will go to Korea or India.

If we spend it on gasoline it will all go to the Arabs.

None of these scenarios will help the American economy.

We need to keep that money here in America .....so the only way to keep that money here at home is to drink beer, gamble, or spend it on prostitution.

Currently it seems that these are the only businesses still left in the U.S.

My DH has offerred to take one for the team and concentrate on the beer runs. :lmao:

And you shouldn't. :thumbsup2

Do you think that part of this feeling about Hillary could be due to the fact that she's a woman? Not from yourself necessarily but could people see her as more shrill and pushy because of gender? I've been trying to picture Hillary as a man and wonder if "his" acts would have the same impact with some people.

Oh, I had no problem with the "Darth" part, LOL! I adore Jim Ward's impression on the Stephanie Miller show!

I do think that your comment was an insult to both candidates. It implies that Hillary is a back-stabbing conniving witch who will do anything to get into power, including taking the VP spot and then trying to rule from there. Like Dick Cheney. It's also an insult to Barack that somehow he isn't strong enough to be his own leader and that he would dance to Hillary's merry tune.

Honestly, comparing either candidate to anyone in the current administration is pretty insulting, IMO!
