The Liberal Thread #2 - No Debate Please

Wyoming is a caucus. So far, he's won all of the caucuses (caucii? :teeth:) but one.

Mississippi's Democratic voters are about 50% African American, which Barack wins about 9 to 1.

In all likelihood, Barack will win enough delegates in those two states to more than negate the gain Hillary had in Ohio.

Plus, aren't there still delegates to be awarded from the Texas Caucuses?
When will we know more about that?

Thanks Wrevy, do we have any information on the makeup of the Wyoming voters? It is a caucus which is actually early Saturday morning 9am I believe... Can't believe there aren't numbers somewhere for either of these states....

To be honest, no, I haven't seen any polling numbers from those states. I think I remember hearing that he was favored in the 65-35 range in both states, but can't find where that came from. :teeth:

This is the site I find myself using the most when it comes to finding polling data, but it doesn't have anything for those two states. The next ones they have data for are NC and PA.

Slightly moving to the center? Looks to me like he made the giant leap the very second he acknowledged he had the nomination.

And to think, Limbaugh had his dittoheads vote for Hillary? Makes you wonder why he didn't instruct them to vote for a conservative going back to Iowa? Planet Bush will believe anything. :lmao:

And over on the Conservative Board, the silence continues to be deafening. Guess it's time to recalibrate the little propellers on top of their standard issue Dittohead beanies and figure out a new way to somehow attack liberals without attacking their own "liberal" standard bearer. I see much spinning and twisting in the coming months, if they ever decide to come out from under their beds that is...

They've got a war hero and liberals hate the military, or pity it-I'm not sure which. That's all we're going to hear about until November because they can't stomach his voting record.

That's why every comment Obama makes about him starts out, "While I honor his service and the price he's paid for this country, ....."

Negative tactics won't work against him, because it will be spun as "attacking a veteran." That's ok, though...we've got the issues on our side.

SSDD. They've been beating that dead horse since '68 and, except for the the last few remaining neo-cons, nobody's listening anymore. Too bad, so sad...

All Obama or Hillary have to do is go to the voting record and ask why he's not running on that.

I honor his service too and it just boggles my mind that anyone could not only survive what he did-but survive it so well.

His admitting the economy is not his strong suit will bite him, big time. Especially since the current economic forecast is so dark. Come November, people will want to be hearing a recession solution from the candidates, not who's most militarily experienced.

I don't think our friends on the other side of the aisle have given us any reasons why we should vote for their new standard bearer, John McCain. There must be 1 or 2 they could share. Or not? :lmao:

Here's 1 they don't seem to want to mention: McCain did say the next president would have to deal with ending the war. Maybe they missed that part? :rotfl2:

Gee, now that the shrub put his arm around him suddenly he's a great guy. Boy, you can lose an eye with all the flip-flops flying around.

My DD9 asked me today why McCain was a war hero. She said "I know he was a prisoner and was tortured, but why is he a hero?"

I really admire the man in a lot of ways and I am sure his treatment was beyond bearing awful, but what did he do to make his a "war hero"? I honestly don't know. Did he save a platoon of men or something?

I think of our soldiers fighting as heroes, just my opinion so therefore I think McCain is a hero.

As opposed to starting a new thread (& boring all non-dems), i'll post here.

I've been amazed at how wrong the conventional media (i watch primarily MSNBC & CNN) has been the past 2 weeks. Not only wrong on what is going on politically today (or tomorrow), but on how the next few weeks may pan out.

Items:

- Even though FL & MI issue would have to be resolved in some way, there was NO mention of it until last night. FLORIDA & MICHIGAN!! Instead they discussed the ins & outs of Vt & RI....jeesh.

- On the day of TX/OHIO/RI/Vt, they were deciding on weather HC should concede that night or the next day (or later). Huh??? There was NO way HC was going to drop out unless she lost both states (& anyone with a nose for politics KNEW that Ohio was in the bag.....& frankly i was sure she had TX too).

- After the results from those 2 states were in..... ALL the columnists were still talking about Delegates EVEN WHEN It WAS OBVIOUS THAT NIETHER CANDIDATE CAN GET THE NECCESSARY DELEGATES TO WIN THE NOMINATION. The only person I saw with a lick of strategic sense (& any gravitas) that night was the old pro Brokaw. Nobody was mentioning the obvious fact that Florida & Michigan would have to be settled SINCE NOW THE POPULAR VOTE is one of the factors that count. (along with the number of delegates, the types of states each won, & 6 other factors).

- Yesterday.....still talking about delegates.....jeesh.

- Today.....finally realizing that Florida & Michigan has to be settled (since the Governors are pushing it). They are NOW wondering HOW it will be settled. PSST.....since none of the candidates campaigned there .....THERE HAS TO BE A DO-OVER.....& the media still doesn't see that.

The question today should be WHEN the do over will take place. (Answer: BEFORE PENN. - MAYBE FL IN 3-4 WEEKS & MI IN 4-5 WEEKS.)

- Tomorrow ...They'll finally conclude there will be do-overs.

- Next week....They'll finally figure out the Do Overs will take place sooner rather than later (unless there's some reason it can't be done early).

Two Questions:

- Will the "Do Over(s)" take place before or after Penn. ?

- What are some of the items that the SuperDs will look at (or would there only be ONE thing)? I think they'll look at the following in order of importance:

- Who would most likely beat McCain?
- The popular vote.
- The States that each won.
- # Delegates (the number of....& whether they were Caucussed or popular vote.
- Will we lose the black vote (or will they stay home) if we pick Hillary?
- Will we the Latinos vote for McCain if we pick Obama?
- Were the wins in closed primaries or open?
- Who had been vetted most. (note this won't take place till a couple of weeks before the convention.)
- Others that i can't think of now.

But this is what they will tell us is most important:

- Popular Vote.
- Delegates.
Period.

I'm aware most support Obama here, & I'm curious what you all think.

Punkin, he was the son of a General & the VietCong offered to send him home (for propoganda reasons). He said not without his men. They tortured him for his decision & his bravery.

He is (& was) a true War Hero.

Thank you. I did not know that. I will tell my DD that. It will give her one more reason to like him.

Joining an all volunteer army, especially during war time, when you know your life will be at risk, is heroic.. Suriving as a POW for 8 years takes and enormous amount of courage and heart..That is absolutely heroic..Coming home after surviving that and making something good and decent out of your life when many would never have recoveres is heroic..
I'm sorry but John McCain is to me a standard bearer for heroes...
It doesn't mean I agree with his politics though.
When people like Derek Jeter, David Ortiz, Peyton Manning etc are hailed as heroes, certainly people like John McCain deserve that title.
They should be giving Disney Parades for injured US soldiers when they come home before they have them for the Red Sox or the Giants
