No like I'm too close to the city to be able to see the stars nearly every night. I was driving to Minneapolis one night and it was pitch black besides my dad's car lights and I could see all the stars. It was amazing. I can't find that around my house...

I love watching the sunset down my street. I live on an east/west street so I can watch it rise (if I'm ever up that early) and watch it set.

I have to take a pic of our sunset... Its too beautiful to describe!

Dude.. don't even mention stars in summer.

When I lived on a boat in the British Virgin Islands I slept outside all the time... and when you were anchored near an island that had NO electricity, no light pollution... there were so many stars... I think I might cry remembering how beautiful it was down there.

Oh man im so jealous!!

Last summer I went to Va. Beach on for a few days with my buds. We were partying and having a good time and eventually decided to take a random 1AM stroll on the beach. And I usually LOVE the beach, but I never really appreciated the complete and total serenity and peacefulness that I felt that night. I started walking slower just looking up at the stars and listening to the ocean. Eventually I just stopped, plopped down on the sand and layed there for 40 minutes, looking at the stars and just realizing how amazing god's work really is. It was pretty much the moment in my life where there were no worries, no problems, no thoughts. Just the stars, the ocean, and myself.

Super jealous. Like lets not talk about that anymore. I wanna go to the BVI so bad. I wanna go anywhere but here soo bad. I think my uncle lives on a boat in the BVI; I've never met him before so I don't think visiting him would be possible...

DO IT LE! I wanna see!! All I get are these Chicago sunsets, which over the skyline are amazing but even as close as I am to the city, I'm still too far to go in at night...

Haha I went on a service trip for 3 weeks with the teen program "Lifeworks".. check it out :)

They have a sister company, ActionQuest, that teaches kids how to scubadive.

I would love to do something like that. A few issues though, the biggest being, I can't swim. Like I can for survival but beyond that...I still don't know how I passed freshman swim hahah! Plus I could never afford a trip or be able to afford to take that much time off of work...oh well I can dream. My cousin is working in Jakarta, Indonesia till 2012 and I've got plans to go visit him.

I'm proud to say that most of the people I know, if not all, are for equal rights for same-sex couples, and Michigan is a fairly homophobic state.

Holy Jeebus I want to go to the beach. When is this whole winter fad going away?

I unfortunately am surrounded by people that are so hard core conservative christian (My entire family) that they don't even understand the whole issue of equality. I can't even pretend to know about prejudice. I am a white male, living in a middle to upper class family. But I do know how each and every human being should be treated, and that is no better or no worse than the next. Regardless of skin color, sexuality, economic status or otherwise.

The DIS Unplugged podcast has completely changed my views on homosexuality. (:

Excellent post. :thumbsup2

I think it was RENT that opened my eyes, because the movie came out when I was about 11, so just when I was starting to notice "different" things. That movie/musical truly taught me that love is love is love.

4 people from the podcast are gay males. They are awesome! Also, ive befriended some gay Disers from the dis unplugged forums! They are trully great people just as all the other DISers are.

Being gay isn't a huge deal around me, at least not publicly. Or maybe it depends on the family. Honestly, I don't really know much about my community. I hate it and I stay out of it (thats a different story there). I do remember two years ago when this guy I know brother came out he was a little embarrassed, but soon enough he was fine with it.
I honestly don't see the big deal. One of my best work friends is gay. He's so open and okay with himself and self assured that I wish I could be like that. He's taught me that I need to be okay with myself and with who I am because it doesn't matter what others think, it's what I think of myself.
