I hadn't thought about the school distraction. Good idea! If we could get away with it, we'd sneak pack their bags, and not tell them til we got to the airport. I don't know if we could pull that off or not, unless we did it Friday before they get home from school, and then hope they don't realize that clothes are missing.
We managed to do that one time when our kids were younger. I think DD (the oldest) was about 10 or 11 then. We told them we were going to Carowinds - an amusement park about 3 hours from here - and that we were going to stay over one night. We got to the exit to Carowinds and pulled over and DH asked if I had the Carowinds tickets. I said no, that I thought he had them. We went back and forth then he finally said, "I do not have any tickets to Carowinds! All I have is these tickets to Disneyworld!" Talk about some squealing!
