So I mentioned to a number of you that after the staycation and fancy meals, we were going to my favorite local Triple D restaurant. For those of you who are not familiar. Food Network sensation Guy Fieri has a show called Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives where he travels around the US finding viewer recommended restaurants. Ive been to a few and if I wanted this place to become packed and difficult to get into, I would send this in to the Food Network. However since LTP is not a very heavily traveled thread, I think I can feel confident in posting here without increasing traffic to the restaurant.
So take a look at the exterior, does this say DIVE or what?
Here is the beautiful interior
Once you sit down at the table and they are sure you will be ordering an entrée they bring you one of these:
Here is my $5 glass of wine
Every meal at the Prospector begins with a bowl of soup. Its the same soup for everyone and it changes every day. This was last Friday, so we had clam chowder. In the past I have had Navy Bean, Chicken Noodle, Cream of Mushroom, they say the only vegetarian soup is the Split Pea. Ive never had it, but Im not big on peas. Every soup Ive had is great! Good and creamy.
Every dinner comes with a salad. Nothing special and no gourmet toppings, but your choice of Ranch, Thousand, Blue Cheese or Oil & Vinegar.
Friday night is Rib Eye Special night, which means your entire meal will run you $12.99 + tax and tip. I order mine rare since its not a Fred Flinstone sized chop. But it comes with Baked Potato and all the trimmings, plus grilled Toast. I order some horseradish to go along with my steak. The first thing I do is cut the baked potato in half since I know I cant finish it all. I usually end up taking home half the steak too and that gives me another meal out of this dinner.
Im stuffed by the end, but just to make sure you walk away with a smile on your face they end your meal with one of these. Today we got lemon pudding, but Ive also had chocolate and butterscotch. Now don't be fooled, these cups are the size of condiment cups at most fast food restaurants. It's only a few bites, but a perfect ending to a big meal.
This place serves anything from Fried Chicken, Pork Chops, Prime Rib, Halibut, and Crab Legs to Lobster Tails. Or if you just want a burger, I bet theyre pretty good too. We have yet to try them for breakfast, but Frans father had his last Christmas Dinner at this place and he was beaming. He thought it was the best thing ever. Perhaps that was what allowed him to drop off into slumber and not wake up a day later.
Anyways, we love the place, you can go there dirty, needing a shower, and no one looks at you any different, yet the food is great!
