It's not always an option. The entire time that I was in the kitchen and unpacking Fran was absolutely passed out dead asleep. With her disease she is fatigued really easily and needs down time to rest. It's kind of like having a young child sometimes. You don't want to be out at a restaurant when a fatigue induced meltdown occurs. That's why we just plan some meals in the room.
Also for this event, we want to spend almost every waking moment at the event. It's 6:30AM and I bet there are people already lined up for the 9AM opening. We're going down in about an hour and hopefully the line won't be too bloody long by then.
That would be almost impossible, by the time that you try what you think are all of them, another opens! I am working on it though....at least the Table Service places. I don't have much desire to eat at all the CS places. So far on my to do list are Sanaa, Kona Cafe, O'hana, Artist Point, Via Napoli, Akershus, Portabello, wow! I've still got a lot left to go, but the first five are on my list for the next two trips....
It's a balancing act with dining at a table service. It is time consuming. So especially given you can wait for a half hour even with an ADR there wouldn't be time to dine 'out' all the time and get to see the full event.
I've never been one to dine out much. I grew up living with my Grandmother who was a wonderful "home style" cook. Lamb cutlets, Oz Tail Stew, Irish Stew, Roast Dinners every Sunday (even in Summer)
Miss her so much
So it was never ingrained as 'normal' dining out to get 'good' food.
Glad you had a wonderful Dinner PIO. I mainly dine out when I eat with friends. But we also go to one friend's house to make our own stuff when her parents will be out most of the day. That's always fun
