The Last Hurrah...July 13-21...BIG Update Page 4, post 58

We then dropped by Germany, where DF purchased Mickey and Minnie champagne glasses and stopped by the fast food stand for a Braut.

Hi, thanks for the report! I was just suprised that you got a "Braut" at the food stand in Germany! I thought you already had a bride! :goodvibes "Braut" is the German word for bride.... :rolleyes1 I was at first totally convinced that this must be some wedding realted purchase (as the champagne glasses) until I finally realied you were talking about a sausage - totally wedding unrelated!

And I am glad you found your bit of Disney Magic when getting that bronze Mickey statue!:goodvibes

lol...whats really runny about that is that my good friend back home said the same thing when he read my report..lol. He speaks German. It was quite funny, had a good laugh about it!

SO any suggestions on what to do with that free night in a deluxe?

Cheers

just a quick update. I received my voucher in the mail today...good for one club level room at any deluxe resort for one night.

I called and inquired about the honeymoon suite at the Poly, so keep your fingers crossed. I'm told its the same price as a Lagoonview Concierge, so hopefully that will be a go. I should know by the end of the week!

Cheers,
Josh

Wow!! I think your attention to detail is what really made them think twice. Have a great honeymoon with your braut!!

(Found your report because of your garage sale experience. Glad I wandered over...)

Amazing trip report - detailed but not boring! I was appalled by the problems you experienced, but sadly not surprised. Customer service in so many places has become "why can't you just let me sit here and ignore you?" instead of "what can I do for you?". The treatment you got regarding the AC problems certainly seemed more appropriate for a Motel 6 than for a 4-star Disney hotel. In fact, it reminded me of a stay at the no-longer-a-hotel-building-demolished Days Inn Lakeside with DB and his family. We both wrote to Days Inn and they pretty much laughed us off.

Maybe that's why I'm so glad that Disney has done right by you, not extravagantly, but not in the cheapest possible way either. I would have expected them to do something appropriate, but with their recent emphasis on squeezing every last penny possible, I was really surprised to read about your positive telephone conversation with corporate. I also think it's great that you've taken the time to tell us about it, so that those of us who've become disillusioned with the Mouse can see a possible ray of hope for better times.

It's a shame that your wedding has a shadow because of your DS. Clearly she has issues that need to be resolved, chemically or otherwise. It's sad that she felt the need to ruin your trip and then blame you and your fiancee. Sounds like she already knew about the unemployment and was just collecting more fuel for her emotional fire. I hope that she wakes up and realizes the importance of family and apologizes.

Best of luck with all your planning - looking forward to reading your honeymoon report!

I'm really glad that they made things at least somewhat right for you. I had a similar experience at Boma 3 yrs ago, where the manager was very snotty when I complained about the service we received. I immediately asked for his card, wrote HIS boss' name on it (asking him to spell it), jotted down notes for myself, and then called ASAP the next day. Like you said, they listened, detailed each point, and made it okay, at least in part. So we do have a voice, but it can be difficult!

It's easier to change rooms (or resorts) than to change sisters, so for that I can give you nothing but :grouphug:

Great report!
Terri

Hey all! Thanks for the latest posts! A few important updates:

** DS has continued with her bizzaro attitude for the past several weeks. She has now been telling people that her doctor told her that she was perfectly fine and it sounded like I was the one in need of mental help! :confused3

Then this week she has continued her personal attacks by saying no wthat she never said she 'hoped' my marriage would fail, but that she 'knew it would fail' because my fiancee is needy...

**I was so angered by this statement that I ended up getting my dad involved and we had a sit down, with him present, so he could hear how she was acting. She couldn't answer any of the questions asked (i.e. give me three examples of how this statement of my fiancee being needy)

I reiterated that to repair things she had to apologize for her actions and the hateful hyperbole that she has been spouting since we've returned. At this she acted offened and left...saying if anyone owed apologies it was us. Obviously someone in delusional and in need of help.

** So I told my parents last night that we were going to have someone else as the fifth bridesmaid. That We were not having anyone who could say such horrible things about us, in our wedding. Mom's disappointed...not in us, but in the fact that we have to make a decision like this. As am I.

**On a lighter note...found out last weekend that the carnival cruise we were planning to take to begin our honeymoon...well, it was canceld and Carnival didn't notify us. So I was forced to start looking elsewhere. Unfortunatey I couldn't find another 4 day cruise that fit our schedules. Luckily I found a 3-day cruise that was within my budget: a 3 night voyage on the DISNEY WONDER! :)

Its going to bump the budget up a little, but thats okay, we can handle it. Oh and that means we have to add another day to our WDW stay...darn my luck! :lmao:

So as of now this is our plan:

May 2008:
Saturday -- Wedding night
Wednesday -- Leave for Honeymoon
Thursday -- Board 3 day cruise on Wonder
Sunday -- Day at Port Canaveral then head to WDW. Check into WL (she thinks POFQ...although if my discount doesn't work out like I think it will, then I may actually move us to the POFQ)
Six nights -- WL Woods View
Seventh Night-- Polynesian HoneyMoon Suite
Next day...late check out and drive home.

So yeah...thoughts?

Cheers,
Josh

Your itinerary sounds great! Everything has a way of working out. Your DF must be so excited about all of this.

Just a thought... Instead of adding an extra night, would you consider staying 2 nights in the honeymoon suite to get a comfortable feel for it and really soak up the luxury. I know that I would love that! I do not know the price but with the price of WL plus what you might pay out for an additional night, is it possible???? I am a romantic at heart and married 17years, just a thought!:cloud9:

Sorry about your sis and the situation. I hope things improve for everyone's sake.

Keep us posted. I love your updates and am so excited about your upcoming plans.popcorn::
