The large number of new Aulani resale contracts??

Maybe they got nabbed on the 2000 pt max ownership per resort? Would DVD be nice enough to let them fulfill existing rental obligations before selling off the excess?

Nobody is supposed to be named on more than 2000pts at one resort. If somebody is selling thousands and thousands of points that should’ve never happened in the first place, especially if they are rarely if ever named on the reservations. That reeks of commercial use. We were sold DVC as a personal use system. They really need to do a better job enforcing.
Can you own 2k or 4k per resort?
4k or 8k total?

I've commented on this one before. There's all kinds of ways to circumvent that point limit, primarily through dirt-cheap LLC's.

My guess is that there's some shady workaround using this....until they're caught...

Q: My Disney Vacation Club Membership is titled as a corporation of LLC. How do I add someone to my Membership as a purchaser/owner?
A.
Since the deed is titled to a corporation, the officer can elect to add a member of the Board of Directors of the corporation to the Membership. A corporate resolution must be submitted to Member Administration at members@disneyvacationclub.com, showing the person is an officer/director of the corporation.
This person is designated as an "Affiliate" and will have all the privileges of Membership.

Well... I guess we'll see if it was a mistake or not but I just had an offer accepted on my first contract which happens to be Aulani. We love the resort, so hopefully this is just a large renter selling off contracts and not something going on in Hawaii that we don't know about. :)

Congrats!!

I’m sure all of us here would love to know if your seller is a regular ole person or an LLC.

Waiting for the crazy argument that this is not a commercial renter….waiting….waiting….
C'mon man! That's just some poor unfortunate soul who, through no fault of their own, has found themselves stuck with nearly 2,000 points that they can't use due to circumstances beyond their control. That they have been "renting for over 5 years now but mostly on different sites" is just a sad testament to their rather lengthy run of bad luck. That they refer to themselves as "experienced" is just further confirmation of the horrifically bad luck they've had, year after year, in trying to use their points for their own enjoyment...

This comment cannot stand without an obligatory “Disney reserves the right to define what constitutes a commercial renter.” (TM)

There, now I feel complete.
