I think the phone call went something like this:
“I have something to tell you about Disney, but I don’t want you to get mad.”
“What?”
“For your birthday, Schmeb and I upgraded our resort from Pop to POFQ.”
“Oh. Well, that’s nice. I did want to see what Pop was all about.”
“Ok, you can stay there next time, but there’s a problem with POFQ.”
“Well, maybe we should just stay there.”
“We can have the WL for (insert ghastly amount here) a night.”
“Well, it’s up to you and Schmeb. How much do I owe you?”
“You don’t understand, this is your birthday present from us.”
“Great. How much extra do I owe you.”
“YOU ARE NOT PAYING FOR THIS. THIS IS OUR BIRTHDAY GIFT TO YOU.”
After that exchange, I think she finally got it. I don’t know about the rest of you, but if my sisters were planning to upgrade our resort as a gift to me, I’d just thank them and smile…

I’ve read that many people, when faced with paying for their trips, have to cancel because it’s just too much for them or they have had a change of plans. No offense to any of you, but I was hoping someone would cancel so we could book another moderate resort. I’m glad to know that all of you are going to WDW as scheduled, and I look forward to seeing you all there. I’ll be with the kid with the sticky lollipop and the pirate swords (he thinks he should get one for each time he rides PoC). He’ll be poking you with the swords and sticking the lollipop to your brand new vacation clothes.

There was not another moderate to be had.

After all the talking back and forth, I made an executive decision because that is what obsessed trip planners do. We are going to the WL. We are going to enjoy our trip even if it kills us. Think Clark W. Griswold in the first Vacation movie. You all know that part when they drop Aunt Edna off at the funeral home in the pouring rain and he flips the crazy switch in the Family Queen Truckster. He even makes a reference to Disney in his tirade. Something about whistling “Zip-a-dee-do-dah” out of one of his orifices. I was almost to that point. Instead, I called CRO again (I know that have p.i.t.a. somewhere in their records under my name) and booked the WL at the AP rate for a woods view room (even all the great parking lot views were taken).

I called the sisters and informed them of our new accommodations. Schmebee happily agreed to fork over some extra cash, so the increase in price wasn’t that bad. I will recoup the money this summer teaching grammar to a group of kids who didn’t get it the first time, but that’s not so bad. Also, Petes fell in love with the WL last summer when he and his parents went to WCC for lunch. If you’re at the WL in early June look for the little guy standing by the stream with a sticky lollipop and pirate swords, but don’t get too close.

The important thing is that we are going to Disney, as a family, to enjoy our first trip together and to make some magic.

I am praying for some pixie dust for the rest of our adventure…

I think that disney and pixie dust can be said in the same breathe......we are leaving in 5 days and I am just sooooooooo anxious......it may be our 16 or 17th trip....but we are just as excited as if it was our first......thanks for updating us on your plans.......keep us posted too

I'm sure the WL will be great! May I ask what the problem with POFQ was? Just curious. I know you will have a wonderful time seeing everything through a preschoolers eyes!

I know just how you feel. i'm down to 3 weeks and now an finding hidden (no not Mickey's) charges to my rental van and a few other things. Its at the point where you just give in and fork over the extra cash. That being said I need to go buy the go cart ride tickets (from an auction) that is going for more than i want but already promised go carts. It is less than the book price so I guess we are still good to go. I think we need to just hand over a blank check and out debit card pin numbers. lol

I'm loving your pre-trip updates and can't wait to read the trip reports after your trip. As 2 previous posters have asked, "why can't you go to PORFQ?" As you can see by my countdown clock we're heading there in 16 days, for the 3rd time. It's our favorite resort. I hope something hasn't happened there that's bad??

We stayed at WL last year when POFQ was closed for re-modeling.

We are going back in July to POFQ. We loved both of them, but went for the moderate this year. My son works at the Disney Story and got a discount, so we saved about half the rate. $86 a night is what we are paying. I guess some other discounts are available, but this was good for us. I thought it was good deal for the 9th of July.

We will use the extra savings for the Segway Tour at Epcot. Already booked it. We look forward to doing something different and new each year. :bounce:

 Hi:)
Last summer my sister and I were going and I thought we could stay at the Port Orleans Riverside- This was the end of May and I was trying to book it for July 23-30, it was all filled up so we ended up staying at the AKL with the FTP vacation offer. We had never stayed onsite before and when I tried to book a moderate and got a deluxe my sister could not believe it. What a great treat for the both of us, yes it cost more money, but it was well worth it.
I'm enjoying reading your sisterly pre-trip reports, can hardly wait for the vacation to start, not just yours, but ours! :D
Only 99 more days to go at the last count.::yes:: :wave2: ::MinnieMo

There really isn't a reason why we can't stay at POFQ. For this trip, it just wasn't going to work for us. Because my nephew is going on this trip and because we're going to be spending most of our time at MK, a MK resort made a lot more sense to me and Schmebee. Gootz is just going along with the plan right now.

The 'Kruk sisters assembled last night to celebrate my 29th b-day and if last night's performance was any indicator of our upcoming trip, I can't wait to get to WDW!

Thanks for reading my pre-trip reports. I can't wait to post the actual trip reports!

Happy Birthday Lisaawynn!!!
:bday:

Thanks so much for clearing that up for me. I feel better now. ::yes::

:cake: :cheer2:

Can't wait for your ACTUAL trip report. You're pre-trip reports are great!

My THREE sisters and I have made many a trip to Disney together and the planning is almost as much fun as the trip itself (actually after a long day in the parks, we kinda wonder what the heck we were thinking and wish we could re-plan the current trip as a SOLO).

Please keep us updated during your future pre-trip plans.

PS Where in PA are you? I'm outside of Lansdale on the Philly side...but lived in the Burgh (Pittsburgh that is) for 5 years.
