Hi all,

I haven't updated on the formerly stray cat I took in, Shenzi and 4 of the kittens that we kept. I figured some of you followed the 'saga' and may be interested in seeing their progress. They are now 6 months old.

(Just a note, we changed the kittens "Pooh" names, as they just didn't quite fit as their personalities started to emerge)

Mama- Shenzi: She is very loving and gentle with people- and her kittens. But, she sticks with her girl kittens mostly.

Figaro (formerly Rabbit):He is my baby. Very emotionally needy with me. He will do everything in his power to get as close to my face as possible. He tries to sleep on my neck at night, but I usually knock him away. By morning, my DH tells me that Figgie has won that battle. By the time I wake up, he is causing trouble with Jack...actually, that is usually what wakes me up.

Fluffy (formerly Piglet): She is very, very shy and has sensory issues (does not like petted on her back but loves belly rubs, it's really weird) She is beautiful and smart, but isn't very trusting. I am the only one she will actually approach. Largest of all of the kittens, I think she has maincoon or some other larger longhaired domestic blood in her.

Jack (formerly Eeyore): He is the acrobat. He can get anywhere (high or low) and walk on a string, he enjoys looking for places no one else has the guts to explore. This can be a problem. (like when he chases his tail while precariously balancing on the handrail above the steps...)

Freckles (formerly Owl): This is the most gentle, loving cat I have ever been around. She steps cautiously/quietly and is very submissive with people and animals. She has an obsession with thumb tacks and constantly removes them from my corkboard and slinks away, hiding it in her mouth like she found a treasure....then chases them all over the house. It is hilarious.

They are beautiful!!! Good luck with all of them!! :sunny:

They are so cute! Figaro sounds just like my cat.

Aww, they are practically grown! Every time I see Owl, oops, Freckles :p , she reminds me so much of my Tabitha. :cat: Seems like they have the same personality too, as Tabitha is soooo sweet and loving. Hilarious about the thumbtacks!! :goodvibes I have to say I will miss their Pooh names. :p

What beauties! Thanks for the updates, I so enjoy reading about these furbabies! Kudos to you for doing so much for them! :grouphug:

Thanks for the update, love hearing about cats.

I adore Fluffy/Piglet - she doesn't have to be affectionate or trusting, her job is to just be beautiful! :goodvibes

Actually, I will always miss their Pooh names too, it just got to the point where the kids and my Dh were calling them all by different 'nicknames' and I wanted them each to get used to having a name everyone agreed on. My Dh pretty much named Jack (Jack-Jack) and Figaro, I named Freckles (she looks like her nose is freckled) and my youngest DD named Fluffy...mainly because we kept on referring to her as the 'fluffy cat'.

I think the most fascinating thing is the vast difference in all of their personalities, even though they have all had the same environment and never been outside of our home (besides the vet visits). For example, one would think they would have the same level of outgoingness because of the fact that they all have been exposed to the same things, but they really don't. Also interesting is that they still gravitate to our bedroom to sleep (where they were born). I tried to get them to take over my DD's room while she is away at school, but they still prefer my room...

Awwww, I am so glad you posted. I feel like a virtual "aunt". I can remember your post about finding a pregnant cat and not sure what to do. It's hard to believe that it's been 6 months. Gee, where does time go?

Figaro reminds me of a cat I used to have. Skeeter loved being in my face for some reason and sleeping on my head. I'd have to knock him off because he often covered my nose whenever he plopped down. :teeth: Oh how I miss him!

Thanks for the current pics. Please continue to post about them every now and then. I love reading how they are progressing. :goodvibes

They are oh-so cute and so blessed to have found you as is Mama! Do you follow the others that were adopted?

Good Luck! Lots of happiness to you all! :grouphug:

Thank you for the update, Fluffy is beautiful (and that's coming from a dog person).

Oh wow they have grown up, Figaro looks like our cat Harry :)

Claire ;)

Awwwwww! :) Your Figaro looks like our Koko! (f) She also has an all black sister named Ginger. They will both be 5 months old on monday. We just love our kitties and they have been a wonderful addition to our family. We adopted them after Allie, our female tiger cat of 17 years had to be put to sleep. :( We still have her sister Schmoo and she has reluctantly adjusted to having the young ones around.... :)

Thanks for sharing the pictures!

Jill

I was thinking this while reading your descriptions. Another case study for nature vs. nurture..lol

They are all so precious...we have a black Jack, too, but he looks more like Figaro (that name is perfect for him).

Thanks for the pics!
