Quite possibly the best movie i have ever seen
why is it so good? what did you like about it?
Colin Firth is channeling King George VI, to start with. He and Geoffery Rush(the speech therapist) have fabulous rapport. Helena Bonham-Carter is positively regal as the Queen. Watching the King struggle with his speech is acutely painful, I have to warn you. There are some VERY funny parts, some bad words, and some very poignant stuff. I knew that Geo.VI was a reluctant king, but I never knew why. You just want to reach out and give the poor guy a hug. Bonham Carter didn't do much for me, mostly because she didn't attempt the actual accent. Kudos also to the lady who played Queen Mary.
I've not seen it yet, but wouldn't the "actual accent" be her native tongue?
The Queen Mother was Scottish. I don't think she had a thick accent, but she didn't have a purely English aristocratic accent, either.
