The Kids' Surprise Trip to Florida - Report Finished!

Oh I will! And my kids have never been on a plane either so this is a completely new experience for them. We always drive everywhere, but we found such great rates to fly I couldn't turn it down.

I don't blame you one bit! I wish we could have flown - and DH said we will fly next time - but we couldn't find airfare that close to leaving that was affordable. Of course, if we wouldn't have driven, we would not have been able to stop in Nashville to see my father. That was priceless even if it was only for a couple hours.

Yeah there's definitely something you miss by flying. I do enjoy the scenery and being able to stop places on your way to your destination. We live in Maryland and a couple years ago we drove to Toronto and that was a great trip! We got tickets through Southwest for $69 each way and that was just too great to not do. Now the kids will be able to say they've flown AND they've gone to WDW! I'm not sure I can hold this all in though. I just want to scream "OMG we're going to disney girls!!!" heh

Yeah there's definitely something you miss by flying. I do enjoy the scenery and being able to stop places on your way to your destination. We live in Maryland and a couple years ago we drove to Toronto and that was a great trip! We got tickets through Southwest for $69 each way and that was just too great to not do. Now the kids will be able to say they've flown AND they've gone to WDW! I'm not sure I can hold this all in though. I just want to scream "OMG we're going to disney girls!!!" heh

I know exactly how you feel!! Thankfully, I only had to keep it a secret for a week and a half. But, I was still ready to bust at the seams!! I wanted to tell the kids soooo bad. However, I was afraid something was going to happen and I didn't want them to be disappointed if something did happen and we couldn't go.

That is an awesome price on the plane tickets. I just made my flight reservations yesterday for the upcoming trip I have in August. It was weird. It's all starting to feel real now! I had to pay $222 (including trip insurance) round trip. (The price actually went up $30 just in the 5 minutes I was trying to decide whether to buy them ore not!! ) I kept putting off buying the tickets and ended up spending about $130 more than I would have if I had bought them earlier. I had actually found airfare for $39 one way on one site, but every time I tried to buy them, it wouldn't let me. It kept sending me back to the home page. I am going to be flying by myself and am meeting my mother and sister in Orlando. It's odd not to be taking DH or the kids. They are planning a camping trip for that week.

Yeah I watched southwest daily until the dates opened up and within an hour of them opening up I had purchased ours. I checked the next day and the tickets were up to $126 each way
