Anyone have any experience with a stay at the Jefferson Hotel n Washington DC? This is our first time using the concierge collection at a non disney location.
Any information would be helpful
Thanks

We visited there when staying at another hotel to check it out for a future trip. The rooms are all unique in old whashington historical decore, and there is good access to the subway, which is what is really important in D.C., the Metro is great. Nice restaraunt and Bar area, roms seemed large and the staff was great. We told them we were DVC members and they were very accomidating in showing us rooms. There is a healthclub at a separate location that you have access to if you'd like to swim, etc. We didn't see that, but weren't too thrilled about walking somewhere else in DC to go swimming, but the up side is that it is available.

With all that said, I guess it depends on your vacation style as to whether it is a good deal. If you'd like to use up some points, go for it. For us, I think we'd go ahead and pay for a hotel in closer proximity to the Mall and with swimming facilities on property. There are plenty of Hotels around D.C. and I'm sure there are good rates available. Thew Jefferson was a little removed compared with other Downtown Hotels. You may like a hotel next to the train station, the mall there is really nice and it's a great proximity to subway and otherthings throughout the area. I'd recommend going there for the evening bus tour of all the monuments. Nice busses take you to monuments you might not otherwise see, and in the evening they are all lit up. Well worth the ticket price, there are a couple of companies that offer the tours. The roosevelt memorial, the National Cathedral, the Jefferson Memorial, Iwo Jima Marine memorial, Embassy row, Georgetown, some of them we wouldn't have gotten around to see if it weren't for the bus.

It would be nice to be in walking distance from some of the sights you'll want to see for us, so we would probably choose a closer hotel to downtown. But we wouldn't rule it out, it is an option for us, and was a high quality quaint establishment with it's own historic feel, and what seemed to be very good service.

Hope that helps.

The location is great but I wasn't really happy with our room. We were suppose to have a 2 bedroom that would sleep 6. When we checked in it was a 2 bedroom but no sofa bed. It would only sleep 4. They gave us a rollaway for one of my children but there was no room for another one. One had to sleep on the sofa. It is very stuffy and small children probably wouldn't like it. We never ate there. Our bathroom was so small that you couldn't look in the mirror without closing the door. The points are very high for what you get. I will probably stay somewhere outside the area and ride the metro in if we ever go again.

We LOVED the Jefferson! We didn't use points but DH had a business trip so I joined him for a weekend in May. We paid cash and got an upgrade to a two-room suite. The decor is lovely, very old style Washington with lots of original Jefferson family heirlooms and other antiques decorating the public areas and guest rooms. The staff was incredible and very friendly.

While it appears a bit stuffy at first glance, the staff really helps make you feel at home. It was an easy walk to the metro and we found several nice restaurants very near by - ate at an Italian place a few blocks away that was INCREDIBLE! Of course, I can't remember the name of it for the life of me.

It's fairly close to the White House and with the M station a few blocks away it's easy to get to the monuments. The National Geographic building is literally around the corner - we spent some time going through their free exhibit.

I'd absolutely stay there again. As to trading points to do so, that's more a personal preference, but imho it would be worth it.

We stayed there for 4th of July weekend one year. It was a lovely hotel but we won't stay there again. We found it to be quite a hike to the mall area-- I'm estimating 10 blocks or so. A LOT of walking! Plus, the parking situation was dismal-- parking is NOT included in your package, and it's like $25 a day. Perhaps that's normal for hotels in that area but we were unprepared for that. It was "ok" all in all, but next time we'll be staying at the Mariott or something else closer to the mall.

As a former military man, I feel compelled to correct the spelling. It's Iwo Jima. Please don't take any offense. I only correct the spelling out of respect for fallen commrades.

If there are any specifics you need information about, I commute daily to DC since I work at CG HQ. I do my early AM jog every morning around the Jefferson, Roosevelt, Lincoln, Washington, and the Korean War Memorials. It is a great place to visit. If you do not want to stay in the city, across the river in Crystal City are some fantastic hotels near the Metro (subway system). By the way, don’t forget the Smithsonian museums!
