The Irish are going to Disneyland.

Any of you on my facebook may have seen my status already but the trip is off!

Momma and I largely don't get on and due to recent tensions she decided she is cancelling the trip next week when our TA gets back off her own short break.

We had already bought our tickets so I've mailed the company we bought them from to see if it's possible to get a refund if not sure i guess i'll just be stuck with an open ended Disneyland ticket that will never be used.

To say I'm devastated would be the understatement of the century and it doesn't help that I have a cold sitting on my chest to go with it.

Thank you all so much for your help in answering all my questions as I researched for the trip.

Oh Emma, I am so sorry. Isn't there a friend you could go with since you and your Mom aren't getting on? I know how much you were looking forward to this trip.

Oh no!!!! Can you go without her? Or do you need her to pay for half of the hotel? I would see if you can get a friend to go.
And I highly doubt you will get a refund for the tickets, but you can save them for the future. I really think you shouldn't cancel till your paid in full date at this point as things can change.

I am so very sorry to hear this. It is not easy to change plans/cancel plans. It is truly heartbreaking for all who are concerned.

I think the only thing that can save the trip is if the travel agent won't refund the flights and as far as I know they can't once it's been paid. Flights is all that has been paid because our TA is my sister in law she never wants the money until the last month before the holiday.

I'd happily go alone if I could and leave out all the touristy stuff outside Disney. I do need her to pay half the hotel and that though because finances are low due to a slight work issue that I won't even go near!

I spent all day yesterday crying, devasted isn't the word for it. Was so looking forward to actually seeing Walt's park. The one he saw, walked in and lived in. Fingers and toes crossed the travel agent brings me good news of not being able to cancel flights :)

There is a very good chance you will not be refunded air. Most airlines will not and those that do only do so in credit for a furture flight...usually having to be taken in a years time.
What airline is it? You can probably look them up and check out their terms.

It's Delta afaik. From what I remember though she did this one time when we were going to Florida and they wouldn't refund the flights so we went.

The place we bought the tickets from said they could give an 80% refund if she cancels the trip.

That might be if she bought trip insurance. Not sure how everything works overthere though

Naw her insurance company said they wouldn't cover it because she has no real reason to cancel..

The park tickets I contacted the company I bought them from and that's what they said because they're open ended tickets they're just 5 days park hoppers but not in anyones name so until we use them for the first time anyone can use them if that makes sense so they can give back 80% of cost

My TA contacted me tonight and says she's heard nothing so we could still be on... watch this space :rolleyes2:confused3

For now we're back on... it may be a case though that I end up going on my own! I have no problems with this :D

:cool1: :hyper:  So glad your trip is still on!!!

Let the planning continue... :surfweb:

We had to REALLY downscale our trip last year from a weeklong stay on property with park passes every day to a weeklong stay offsite with just one day passes. It was SOOO depressing to make that decision, but financially, it was the wise choice. We ended up with a very nice, relaxing Disney-fied vacation (taking advantage of "free" disney experiences like DTD and the Chip and Dale campfire at Fort Wilderness). Then finances loosened again and we started saving for this cruise last summer. The Mickey withdrawals from not having a full Disney vacation since March 2012 are giving us MAJOR appreciation for the upcoming cruise!!!

I am so glad to hear that things look like they are working out!!!

I'm ok with down scaling.. not the Disney part lol. We've a 5 day Disney ticket bought anyway so if I end up going solo I won't bother with the other tours. I might do the shopping outlets and just hang out in DTD the other days.
