I just listened to the video when I logged into disneyworld.com/incredible. I had to laugh when, after explaining things, she said this will allow you even more time to be spontaneous on your vacation. It made me chuckle! Do you think it's true? I was thinking just the opposite, but I haven't been into the theme parks since FP+ started.

I believe they tout the same nonsense on the video they play on Magical Express. Some bimbo singing the praises of MDE and FP+ and how you can "customize" your whole vacation for spontaneity and maximum bang for your buck! (I'm paraphrasing, but I'm sure y'all know what I'm talking about.)

I think it is classic doublespeak for Disney to refer to planning not only which parks to go to 60 days out but which individual attractions guests visit at what times 60 days out as "spontaneous." And I suppose going to an often glitchy app on an overloaded network to change FP's while at the parks is also considered "spontaneous." One might love FP+ and the extensive extra planning guests can do with it, but that to me is the opposite of spontaneous.

I just went with Fast Pass+ for the first time this past fall, and as someone who loved just doing whatever on trips, the last word I would use to describe it is 'Spontaneous'. It made things like late buses, rain storms, and crowds even more frustrating when you knew you only had a small window to ride a ride you chose a month before. Also, no one in my family had a smart phone so the whole thing was really not very convenient.

I wouldn't say more spontaneous, but this last trip was definitely more relaxed. I am now officially a FP+ convert. The technology is beginning to run more smoothly (note I did not say it was perfect). This was my second trip with FP+ and, as a rope dropper, it was really quite pleasant not to have to rush back to an attraction to get FPs. It changed some of our touring strategy for the better, and we got more done than ever before. I think we did 24 "experiences" on our first MK day alone, but we never felt rushed either.

This is coming from someone who hated FP+ with a vengeance.

For a family like mine where three of the four like to sleep in FP+ is actually a big help. We had never ridden TSMM until FP+ because by the time I got the wife and kids up and out the FP- were always gone. Now we get to ride it every year...just go to easy wdw and go with their recommended park and pick 3 FP+ for the late morning/early afternoon and get there by 1030 or 11 or so...works great for us.

For us, FP+ increases our spontaneity, because it means we don't have to follow a strict touring plan in order to ride the rides we want most. We're far more likely now to spot a short line, and spontaneously jump into it. Or pause for a street show. Before, I would have been all, "NO! We mustn't deviate from the PLAN! If we stop and do this, we'll be 20 minutes behind schedule, and that'll throw everything off!"

I typically rope drop one park in the morning, go back to the resort for a nap and enjoy our FP+ in the afternoon. I love walking into Hollywood Studios at 5pm and strolling straight over to Toy Story Mania.

That is some serious spin. Honestly, I wonder sometimes if people understand what spontaneous means.

I prefer to pre plan all of my spontaneous activities.

No doubt. I just love having to figure out when, and which, headliners I'm going to ride 60 days before we arrive (for fear of not FP'ing them and not getting to ride at all), thus having my park schedule etched in stone for two months before arriving. :headache: Yep, spontaneity. :sad2::rolleyes:

This is exactly how I feel. Our trip in June was the most relaxing and free flowing we've ever had.

lol!!!! since I saw the reaction here to deserts that look like animal poo i cant be surprised anymore by what disney tries to sell us since theyre is always someone who buys things that make no sense

I guess you can be spontaneous if you don't mind missing certain things that may be considered must-dos. Especially most things Stacy will highlight on your resort TV.

Knowing you have a ride reservation is the exact opposite of spontaneous. It doesn't allow spontaneity. I believe they are trying to say you can go do anything because you know you already have your rides set up, but that's not the reality.

I personally don't enjoy spontaneously waiting in a long line for anything. It's not spontaneous to get to MK and see a 75 minute wait for 7DMT. We are here now and I met a couple at rope drop that was there only because they hadn't seen less than an hour wait for 7DMT their entire trip. They figured that was the only way to avoid the long line.

I agree with some of the above posters- it takes away spontaneity, but it can make things more relaxed. I also would be one of the people who just didn't go during busy times of the year if I knew I'd be spending 1/2 my day waiting in line, in the heat, for "must do" attractions. I can make a few FP+ reservations, and then plan my day around those.

Really? I can't figure out if this was serious or not.

My last trip was great, but relaxing and free-flowing, it was not. I had places to be and things to do.

As relaxing as a Disney trip can be I suppose. I've always thought the idea of WDW being a destination if spontaneous and relaxing is your goal
was silly.

It was however much better than previous trips- and much, much less frustating. That's not saying it should be for everyone, but it was for us.
