Hey guys! :)

I'm not sure whether anyone has heard of it or is keeping an eye on developments related to it but i thought i'd ask fellow Dis-ers their opinion & whether or not you'd be interested in going to it when it opens in 2013!

It's going to be built where the Mercado was located on International Drive (which i actually remember!) It will include the 'Orlando Eye' which will be 425ft tall (the London Eye is 443ft tall), a Madame Tussaud's, a Sea Life Aquarium & many shops & restaurants.

Heres a link to it http://orlandoparksnews.blogspot.com/2011/12/preview-of-new-i-drive-live-project.html

I personally think this is a fantasic idea! If the Orlando Eye IS going to be nearly as tall as the London Eye then that imho will be even better, it'll be fascinating to see Orlando from that height. :goodvibes But i'm a little blah about the Madame Tussaud's & Sea Life Aquarium - i've never been interested in seeing wax figures of famous people.. & i don't understand why they'd have a Sea Life Aquarium when SeaWorld is just up the road? But overall i think it'll be a much needed addition to I Drive.

What do you guys think? Will you go to the attractions?

Not sure I see the appeal - it's so flat I think I'd rather do a helicopter tour! I agree with you about the Aquarium and Madame Tussauds - why?

Will it ever be built? first talked about early 2009 and it was postponed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Great_Orlando_Wheel
I doubt I would do it but I wouldn't pay price to do the balloon at DTD or the skytower at Seaworld(we do it free with AP's but would never pay for it)
Not sure if it will work or not.
I never expected them to go ahead with Legoland but they did so maybe they will do this also.

I would def do the big wheel as I love going up in the DTD balloon and the skytower at Seaworld and think that they are worth paying for. Def would not do the sealife attraction and might do the Tussards as thought the one in Las Vegas was great fun and the one in London is excellent also. :)

If the project does go ahead i can see it being a big Tourist Attraction - i personally think I-Drive needs uplifting! :) But yes i see what you mean about the Helicopter Tour - why pay more money (i assume) to go on the Wheel when the Helicopter Tour is there already?! & I really hope they think about about the SeaLife Centre as it seems like such a waste of time. :sad2:

I was thinking back in March when it was revealed that the project seems a little too adventurous & that it probably won't go ahead.. but i'm optimistic now. However, if it is going to be open in 2013 then they better start getting a move on with the construction... so i suppose we'll have to see! :)

I think that's the downfall though, there's already a good few attractions at other place's in Orlando offering the same sort of thing.. so it won't be as exciting imho as they're probably hoping for. :confused3 But i'd definitely go on it as i love heights! ;)

The aquarium sounds like a non starter with seaworld nearby.

I agree! I don't think Merlin has thought that one through properly...

Maybe they have thought it through. Sea World isnt cheap to get into, so they are maybe thinking there are a crowd of people who wouldnt mind seeing some fish, but dont want to pay the price of a Sea World ticket, BUT would be willing to pay to go into Sea World

I was just about to say the same :)

As for the Helicopter ride or the big wheel I would do the big wheel but Id never get into a helicopter and Im sure others are like me so it might do well :)

Good point, i never thought of that! :)

Another good point, i probably wouldn't get into a Helicopter as i'm quite claustrophobic.
