Let’s get this party started! It begins on the evening of August 17th. I told DH that I needed some sleep that night, if only a few hours. I was set to get up at 4:30am and leave an hour after that or the airport. My car had been called and I knew a shower would help wake me that early. I keep a vampire's hours so sleep was essential to flip the sleep pattern on myself during this trip. But we had some friend drama and the text messages kept coming into all hours of the night! I swear KC & I got all comphy cuddly and as soon as we both feel asleep the phone rang! It was our last night together for 6 days and we didn’t have a very nice night. I think I slept for about 2-3 hours total, got up before the alarm and was getting ready in no time. I woke KC up to walk me down to the car and say goodbye. It was really weird leaving without him. We actually hadn’t been apart for more than 2 days at a time in the 5 years we have been together! Of course when I was savoring the moments with him the car came early! I got a bit teary and we smooched and I was off in a flash.

I had an unusually young driver, this car service generally has older men who only speak Spanish (lol) but my driver was around my age or younger. He proceeded to play a cd with some of the funniest things to hear from a young male, back street boys & Christina Aguilera to name a few. I tried not to laugh! The 20 min to the airport was amusing and strange. I fought back tears of leaving alone and of not laughing too hard at his musical choices.
I was really early for my 8am flight but I am always afraid of security being a drama, and I’m glad I was early. The line was kinda long. And may I just say carrying my own bags stinks, that’s what husbands are for! Through security I found out my gate was right in front of the entrance and next to my breakfast destination- Dunkin Donuts! I got on the always long line and stopped to ask the lady at the only coffee line(behind the kiosk) if the regular line would break a $50 and she asked what I was getting. I told her an iced coffee. About 10 minutes later she pulls me out of the line and has an iced coffee for me! I paid her and went to find a table. It wasn’t a flavored coffee but it was SO nice of her to do I took it and drank about ½.

Sitting waiting was when the panic set in. I hate flying. I don’t mind as much when I have the calming factor- KC. Alone, not so much calm. I was almost in a full on panic attack sitting there. I couldn’t concentrate on anything. I tried reading, listening to my iPod. I went to the desk as they pre boarded my flight and asked to get on first because of my back and having to lift my suitcase alone, and I was let on no questions.

I lucked out and had no one next to me! Of course the panic was for nothing, it was one of the smoothest flights ever! I watched re-runs of America’s next Top model the whole way down to Tampa.

My very best and oldest friend, L, was there to pick me up! We headed to her house from the airport. I got to see her huge and cheap rent apartment (3 bedrooms!!) and meet her kitties and see her hubby, M. All 3 of us headed to WalMart for me to pick up some food items for me to bring to the hotel with me.

I want to live in WalMart! Everything was so cheap!!! I bought a bunch of stuff I didn’t need and some I did and we were on our way to pick up my fav 9 year old from school, H. She jumped up and screamed when she saw me! I love that kiddo!

Then we were on our way to DISNEY!!!!!!

Since this was a pic less post here's a pic of my trip report notebook! it has all my trips since October 07 in it, I finally filled it this trip!

Unlike you, I am looking forward to leaving my husband for 10 days.

Also unlike you, I hate Wal Mart! If I ever have to go there, I'm counting the seconds down until I can get out.

Hi Kat - great first installment - glad your flight was better than ours!!

If you remember we were on a 6:35 am flight out of JFK that morning into West Palm Beach - first the plane was 45 minutes late leaving JFK, then we landed in...... Fort Meyers, FL because the West Palm Beach airport was closed because of bad weather - it put us over 4 hours behind and not a great way to start off the vacation

Great start Kat! I got used to flying alone going home to England , so Florida is a breeze. The first time I ever flew, it was just from England to Belgium amere 1/2 hour ride and in a plane held together with gum and flapping walls of canvas about 20 mins into flight I started screaming we're going to crash we're gouing down. My friend leans over and says "Shut up you fool we're landing "
