So I've started Christmas shopping... Yes, not even Halloween yet, but I don't want to be last minute. Also hate black friday unless its for something fantastic. I've been out of the loop. What are the must have's for this holiday season? I have no idea what to get the family this year, especially the inlaws!:confused3 I think I am going to get my mom a digital frame - I read there were a lot of good sales last year.

i've heard a few people already started x-mas shopping. They said they wanted to start early because its easier to buy a lil at a time. I actually started a x-mas fund in August and have $240 so far. DD10 hasnt really asked for much. She said giftcard to Target, Toys R Us and a DS game. We asked if she wants a new bike because she needs a new one for her size but she said no. As far as Dh he got a new car and wants tinted windows but decide to wait because of his budget. I figure I could do that for him. MIL can get discount movie tickets so i figure those will be good stocking stuffers for the 3 of us.
My side of the family picks names so that will save me some money.Dh had to cut his family list down. My rule this year is all must be paid in cash or no gifts-NO CREDITCARDS Allowed- except for me because i have 5Xdisney rewards on all purchases and i have the cash to pay off asap-lol!

I started early since I have DS b-day in Dec too. I've gotten DS about 70 percent of his gifts. For my niece BIL I'm getting some restaurant.com certificates & the rest I shop for bargains. DH wants a Sirius radio + DS wants for his b- day a red wagon (had no idea) how pricey they were !

If you've got young kids, Zhu Zhu Pets seem to be the rage. I know my 2 girls want these and they are impossible to find. They sell out within minutes of getting on the shelves.

That's funny....my boys have no idea what these things are. If I hadn't seen the discussion about them on these boards, I wouldn't have even known what they are. I guess I should consider myself lucky, huh? :confused3

I have the oportunity to buy two of these stupid zhu zhu pets for 2 foster girls. What is a fair price to pay? I am NOT willing to fork over major money for something that will get shoved under the bed. But i would also like them to have the "cool" toy for xmas, since they dont normally get alot of things.

I got dd a couple of hamsters and the ball, after seeing them I wouldn't spend more than the retail price and shipping.

What age group is this Zhu Zhu Pet geared toward, they look really cute when I did a search online.
Thanks

I was able to get a few of the hamsters and accessories from Amazon. The way I figure it, with my gas- guzzling suv it would actually cost more for me to go out and drive around all day checking the toys-r-us stores and walmarts, than it would for me to just pay a little extra.
And my time is worth something too, right? That is just the way I justify it I guess. Some people are lucky to have the time and the patience though. Me, I'd rather know I have the toy she wants (hopefully hidden well enough this year) than stress over what time a store opened to be in line, just to find out they only has 3 come in that day. :headache:

I totally agree with you, BUT what is the price? $10 or $25? I hate to spend alot because that just limits the amount of toys they get.

Toys R Us has the hamsters listed at $9.99 each and the accessories from $10 to $22 depending on the size... But I've yet to see them in stock on-line.

and what is retail price??? I have no clue nor can i find any place onlineto order them.

The hamsters range from $8-$10 for 1. I'm not sure how much the accessories all are since they have things like blankets to big playsets with multiple accessories. There is a thread right here on the BB devoted to these things and you can find lots of info there :thumbsup2

My dd is older and wants these because they are *cute* so I know they will most likely be played with for a week and then lost in the abyss we call her room  If you think the girls you are buying them for will love them, or that having the hot toy of the year will help them have a better Christmas, than I would definitely pay more for that.

Thats exactly my theory.....I can buy each girl a hamster, make them a super cute carrier, and buy them a few accessories to share.

What else is HOT for this year? I am dealing with a 10 year old (level of a 6 year old) and 9 year old ( 12ish, HIGH IQ, with severe anger issues, so no toys that can hurt when launched.....lol)

Yeah, we've been on the search for these as well. The only stores near us within an hours ride are two walmarts, and neither of them have them.

I have three girls - 9,7,and 2. I have no idea what they want for Christmas this year. No idea what to get my brother, my sister, or my DH for that matter. :)

I think a few HOT gifts for some of the older kids/teens will be the Mattel Twilight Dolls (my DD 13 and Niece 20 both want these) the Kindle2 since it just dropped in price and the new Dooney Bourke Disney purses that have just come out at DisneyWorld and Disneyland.:thumbsup2

My 8yo has been asking for Flick Trix (I think they're called), they're little bikes like tech decks and I already bought some luckily because the section for them at my Walmart has been bare all month.

My DD13 has only asked for a VB purse, I don't know what else I'm going to get her besides an Itunes GC. We're still doing Ipods and digital cameras for some of the older boys, too.

My youngest DS is getting a big tool bench, the Home Depot one I think, and a DS with a game.

I'm also getting all of them Mario Kart for Wii and Wii Sports Resort.

As far as the adults I'm clueless. I don't know what to get DH, I got FIL a charging valet for his gadgets. I might get MIL some accessories for her Wii fit if she's still into it then, if not I'm thinking about a Wizard of Oz dvd gift set, she loves that movie.
