The horse girl, her big guy and WDW..a trip report! Update 8/4-Day 10, pg 26!

Ok guys...hold on to your seats! Here comes the pic of my first purchase (not counting the Passporter or UG) for our honeymoon trip!!

drumroll please............

WDWtrip003.jpg

Yep...that's it. I bought about 10 of these little beauties on clearance at CVS this weekend. The DVC hotels have free laundry but you have to provide soap/fabric softener. We ended up doing most of our laundry before we came home last time. It worked out well b/c we didn't open our suitcases and find a bunch of nasty, smelly clothes. :crazy2: We plan to do the same thing again this time but to save money I thought I would bring soap along. Otherwise it's like $1 a load there. These were 16cents each on sale. :thumbsup2

I know, I know guys. It's a lot to take in. I also know a lot of you are jealous that I have these for my trip. ;)

You're too sneaky! You started this the day I left and I just barely learned about it today! Great start, by the way! I wish I had brought some detergent with me, cost me 10 bucks to buy it at the resort!

Great deal on the laundry soap! You can't beat that! :thumbsup2 I love the Unoffical Guide for all of the reviews. The Birnbaum's guide is so bright and colorful. I love to read them before bed so I can think about good things before I go to sleep.:)

Enjoying your pre trip - I have to say when I worked on the College Program I swore I would never take a baby to WDW, but when my niece was six months old I was the first one on the bandwagon for taking her with us! And we had so much fun! Most of the last few times we've gone we've had a baby with us and while it means we have had to slow down every single day was wonderful! That being said I'm really looking forward to riding Tower of Terror next week with that niece and her sister and brother!

I also agree with Melinda. I tell people all the time if you're only going to be able to go once let them get a little bit older! I'm thankful I haven't had to do that!

Looking forward to more!!!

That's about what we spent last year!! Plus, we had to have singles or quarters with us for the machines. That was annoying too!!
Great find!
Thanks! DH laughed at me when I said I was going to post that pic but I figured you guys would get a chuckle out of my first buy!

So do I!!! That's my favorite time to read them. It's funny b/c even though I have read them through already I always find out some new piece of info!! :thumbsup2

TOT is a great ride!!! Have you ridden it before? We only did it once last time so I plan on going a few more on this next trip since we can slow down a little. We are staying 2 extra days this time. :goodvibes

Great find! :thumbsup2 I used to bring a box of detergent tabs with us, but then they were hard to find, so I had to come up with a different solution. For our December trip, I ordered a bottle of laundry detergent from Garden Grocer and had it delivered to the Boardwalk, along with my Cheetos & Pepsi! :thumbsup2 We always do our laundry before we go home. Less work=less depression when we leave WDW and go back to reality. :sad1:

So I just called DVC to add a room request to our ressie. I already have on there that we are on our honeymoon but thought we might as well request a certain room area too. So for CSR I requested he Ranchos. I know they are far out but they look the neatest to me...kind of like an old Mexican town of the 1800's. I could almost picture my horse tied up out front! For SSR I requested the Grandstand. It's the newest area...I think it just being completed as we speak. Might be hard to get into but maybe that honeymoon note will pull us through! ;)
If anyone has stayed at OKW let me know some room tips...no clue where to request for that ressie in Sept!

I also made another trip purchase today. After the agony of leading you on with "exciting pics" yesterday I thought I would pass on posting this one. :rotfl: I picked up some Bonine...motion sickness pills. I took two of these a day last year and they worked great!! Spinning rides do me in. I had no problems on the Star Wars ride, Mission Space (tame version) or any other ride that had a m.sickness warning attached!! Although I did not push my luck on the teacups. I used to run that ride at an amusement park and just watching it all day made me sick!! ;) I highly rec. this brand. They are chewable and don't taste that bad. A pack of 16 was about $5.

I better get back to work. My boss was asking me a ton of questions about DVC today and said he even ordered the DVD about it. Maybe I will get a referral out of him. Hmm.

WHEW! Finally caught up! ;)

I hate to be the devil's advocate here but to some degree I have to agree with taking kids when they are older....but just for me personally. I do not have the patience to take an infant or toddler and all their gear around WDW. In my experience, the under 4 set tends to be moody and self centered (much like teenagers ;) ). They don't have the stamina that older kids do and when they're done...they're done. You're group is only as strong as its weakest link.

We have never taken a child younger than 6 to Disney. I like for everyone to be ambulatory and big enough to ride most rides. Now I say this is for me personally because most people, like us, can't/don't make a lot of trips to Disney so they want to make the most of it...as they might not get back again anytime soon. We took my middle child to WDW when she was 6 and she has very few memories of the trip.

But on the other hand, if you know you're going to be able to go often, especially if you have DVC or are an AP holder, then there's no reason not to take the little ones because if the day goes sour, there's always next time. Again what works best for us is not what's best for everyone and I can certainly understand why people take younger children to Disney....to each his own.

I know where your SIL got her info BTW. Have you read the UG? There's a chapter called "Whose Dream is it Anyway". The authors do not advise taking any child younger than 7. ;)

Can't wait to hear more..........

I'm with you Melinda! We didn't go with the kids until our DS was 6. I didn't want to drag around a stroller and all the paraphanalia attached with younger kids. However, I may have to bring my GS when he is 4! :rotfl2:

I love the Passporter - we got the refillable deluxe and it is almost an obsession with me - I have read and re-read it so many times!

I  my Passporter!

Bonine is the best pills to take IMHO. I take them daily when I'm on vacation at the World! I get soooo motion sick otherwise!

Ranchos is FAR. It all depends on if you plan to spend a lot of time near the main building. Its far from thee but close to the Dig Site Pool which was AWESOME! There is even a refill station over there so if all u need is a soft drink u can refill it there and it's a lot closer than El Centro. We stayed in Casitas and personally i liked it but would have preferred Cabanas. There are more hammocks there and it just seems more romantic. The resort is just gorgeous tho! And Pepper Market was great too, we ate there about 4 times in 5 days lol. You will love this place, it is truely like being on a vacation in a vacation.

Yeah I saw that they were FAR!! I didn't want to be near the Casitas/El Centro incase there was a business seminar going on. Cabanas seemed nice but we are not lay on the beach in a hammock people! :rotfl: So I went with Ranchos. it's only for 4 nights so we can toughen through anything we get! Thanks for the info though...I haven't talked to many people who have stayed at CSR!

Wow great purchase....laundry is no fun but I guess we have to do it. My DH unlocks the door when we get home and heads directly for the washing machine. Then we dump the suitcase's contents in!!! :thumbsup2

Your rooms and resort sound loverly!!! I bet you Disney will hook you up! :cloud9:
Do those pills make you sleepy??

Thanks!! I am hoping to maintain it this week. Didn't eat that great over the weekend. :scared1:

No, those pills didn't make me sleepy at all. Walking all day at Disney did though!! ;)

That is a great idea to take the MS pills every day as a precaution. I may make DH do that, as he has MS problems. Congrats on the WL! :)

I always call DH from work to see what came in the mail each day. Today he said we had something from Magical Express. Could it be? I figured they wouldn't be here for another 2 weeks. But alas, the luggage tags had arrived!! :woohoo:

005.jpg

Of course I can't forget how close our vacation is but when you get these tags it just makes it seem all that much closer!!! :cloud9:

One of my best friends called me this afternoon...she said she wants to go to WDW in April (I told her that is NOT the best time to go but it's all she can do) with her son, sister and her sister's 2 kids. She asked me to plan for her!!! Does this sound familiar Punkin? :rotfl: She has never been to WDW before and wants me to find a hotel for her that can sleep 5. The kids are 10, 7 and 4. She wants me to set everything up. I was just telling DH the other day that I would love to plan Disney vacations for people. What a great job!! She also wants me to help plan what parks on what day when they release the schedules. So I have some research to do tonight. Has anyone stayed at in an AS Family Suite?? I don't think she could afford a villa at a deluxe resort. I am so excited. DH said this should keep me busy until I can plan our Dec. 08 trip next spring!! ;)
