Saturday 10th April 2004

Up late today just after 9:00 and couldn't open my eye as the infection really kicked in. Oh, didn't I tell you about this? Yesterday I had a really painful eye and this morning it's simply stuck shut! - Blah! (just vying for the sympathy vote here )

Out to Golden Corral for breakfast this morning as I assume that no one wants burnt bagels for breakfast again! The place was quiet today although it maybe because we'd arrived at 10:00. Afterwards we drove back to the villa to freshen up and decided that today would be a shopping day so we headed off to the Premium Outlets Mall for some retail therapy to be followed by a water park, possibly mini golf (again) and Spectromagic in the evening.

The Mall was quite busy and very hot today, we bought the girls a couple of pairs of Sketchers (Buy one pair get one 1/2 price) for $54 for the two pairs and we bought some Reeboks for us (same deal) for $75 for the two pairs. Many of the shops were packed to gunwales, especially the Nike shop which resembled a jumble sale!

Fed up with the shops, heat and crowds we took off to Typhoon Lagoon and arrived at about 2:30 expecting it to be crowded but luckily it wasn't. I guess that many of those people that had been there at opening had moved on after lunchtime. We found some chairs on the main beach area in front of the pool and had a great time in the waves etc. If you are a strong and confident swimmer this really is the place to be and makes a real change from the hotel pools that don't have anything resembling a deep end.

We stayed here until the park closed at about 7pm, but for the last hour or so Alison wasn't feeling 100% and said she felt as if she'd had a double session on the Tea cups ride, and the feeling was getting steadily worse. The plan was to get something to eat but the very thought of going into a restaurant made Alison feel even more queasy. We made our way slowly to Crossroads as Alison was getting steadily worse. After we parked up, Alison stayed in the car while the rest of us went over to Quizno's Subs which had recently opened. (just noticed that one of these outlets has opened in Bluewater).

1 large ham and chicken melt sub with ranch dressing
2 small subs (one with ham, one with tuna)
1 large drink
2 packets of crisps
Total $17

As Alison was feeling worse than ever we decided to drop the idea of Spectromagic and Wishes until another night and just get Alison back to the Villa as quickly as I could. We tucked Alison up in bed and I took the girls off to Pirates Island for some mini golf. The course was surprisingly good and cost $22 for the three of us. The lady at the desk asked if anyone had a hole-in-one, which Alexandra did, and she gave us a free game token for our trouble. During the game Laura played really well and Alexandra went downhill with her "Kevin” attitude (such a bad loser! And she‘s only 10!!).The other good thing was that on the reverse of the scorecard you can get a kids game free with every paying adult. I suspect that we may come back here later!

I drove back to the villa with my both my eyes streaming from the infection (Laura said I drove through a red light - oops!) and arrived back at about 10pm to find Alison was fast asleep. Apparently she’d been quite ill while we were out although she felt better afterwards. Hopefully a good nights sleep will do her good.

I put the kids to bed and crashed out myself.

Weather today - hot and sunny.

Plan for tomorrow Depending on Alison, Boggy Creek Airboats.

Thanx Shaun for the report ~ Hope everyone is feeling better for the next days activities.

Poor Alison, it sucks being ill on holiday :( And poor you with the eye infection, not nice. Hope you were both feeling a lot better after this and finally get to do Spectromagic and Wishes.

Anz :earsgirl:

I do feel sorry for both of you - sounds like your eye was very uncomfortable and poor Alison! Hope it didn't last very long.

Quizno's Subs ...... are they any good? If they are I must give them a try next time I go to Bluewater.

Quizno's Subs are very good!

I think the main difference is that they can toast the subs after the toppings are put on - makes a nice difference.
