Day 8 – Tuesday, 7th August – Animal Kingdom and Universal
After breakfast in the Orchid Lounge of yoghurt and a croissant we headed over to Animal Kingdom.
Inside RPR reception area
Hotel entrance
First stop was Everest and we also picked up a fast pass at the same time for it. Afterwards we went on Kali River Rapids. The youngest really didn’t want to get wet after our previous visit to Animal Kingdom being so cold so he didn’t venture on the ride. Both me and eldest were soaked on this ride. I had thought my hubbie might have got soaked because he had been telling an American that most people don’t get that wet on this ride.
Next was a wander through to see the gorillas before picking up another fast pass for the safari ride which we did. We saw less animals this time. The animals definitely like the rain judging by how active there were the last time we went.
We did Everest again and the tiger walk followed by the bird show. We walked passed the Dinosaur ride but it was showing an hour wait so we didn’t bother waiting. We left the park and headed to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch.
The tapir in AK, for years only viewed its backside, first time this year it was up and went in the water. Class. However, was informed it was blind, 30 odd years old and on its last legs, they were expecting it to pop off at any time.
I thought Sweet Tomatoes was okay, I think I had built it up too much in my mind after hearing all the recommendations and waiting 2 years to go to it. I had salad, pizza, pasta, cakes and a soup. The hubbie also had fruit and ice cream. The drink I had was strawberry and kiwi water which was quite pleasant. Then the oldest said try the strawberry lemonade – this was delicious and worth going in for this alone.
After lunch we went in a golf shop for the hubbie before going back to the hotel. At the hotel we had a swim and a rest by the pool. The hubbie found he had a dodgy tummy and had to leg it off a few times. He thought it may have been the big chocolate cake he had the day before. We went back to the room as there was a thunderstorm and the eldest headed to the shower.
As it was a bit wet we went to the Mall of Millenia, they bought some more Hollister stuff. Whilst I went in the Apple Shop to play around on the net. The youngest wouldn’t go in Hollister so he just stayed with me.
The rain had stopped when we left the Mall so we headed back to the hotel and then back to Universal. We had 2 goes on MiB and Jaws in the hour we had left there.
The youngest spotted a good place for sandwiches on City Walk. He didn’t want one and only fancied an ice cream. The hubbie and eldest had sausage sandwiches and me a tuna one which I ended up sharing with the youngest.
The kids legged it back to the hotel. We followed and then we all sat in our room watching a programme showing kids breaking things accidentally doing sports. A kid broke his leg on a skateboard and you actually saw it bending backwards, yuck. All his mate said ‘you alright dude’?, which sounded typically American.
