Day 5 – Saturday, 4th August 2007 – Magic Kingdom and Universal
This morning we had breakfast in the Orchid Lounge. It had a typical continental style buffet plus cereals, yoghurts, fruit. We were a bit late setting off and got to Magic Kingdom at 8.45 am. The youngest was panicking because it can make a big difference on lines if you are late in, I thought we would be fine at this time though.
We grabbed any photopass people we saw and posed for photos. I think the photographers were a bit taken aback because they are more used to approaching people themselves.
We went on Splash twice,
Rocky Railroad and Pirates. In Pirates the CM jumped out at the kids, making the eldest almost hit the roof, it was funny. We then headed over to Tomorrowland and did Stitch,
Space Mountain,
Transit Tram then headed to Sawyer’s Island for apple pie.
We were disappointed to discover Auntie Betty’s was closed and replaced with a vending machine. However, not to worry took them to the restaurant I had originally planned to go to which was the Columbia Harbour. We had delicious tuna sandwiches, crisps and orange, whilst the eldest chicken strips and chips. The hubbie also had apple pie but couldn’t eat it so he shared it with the eldest.
Afterwards we went on the steam boat and had a very hot ride around the lake before heading to the Tiki Bird Show and the ferry back to the car park. It was extremely hot, on the way back we found the supermarket that is hidden behind Premium Outlets.
We stocked up with snacks. It took ages getting back because I think there had been an accident which held everything up. Once back we changed for the pool but when we got down there it was shut apparently some guy had had an accident in it so it was shut till 8 pm. We just had a sunbathe, relax and sleep by the pool instead before heading to City Walk once changed again and Universal.
Here we went on The Mummy (I got knocked around quite a bit this time), Men in Black, Jaws (just me and the hubbie - kids stayed on MiB), ET, Earthquake and finally Jaws.
We then left the park trying to find the eldest something to eat. We ended up in Nascar at 10 pm. However, it took ages for the meal to come and me and the youngest were practically falling asleep at the table, I also had a headache. After the last apology from the waiter and still being unable to say when the meal would arrive, me and the youngest did the unthinkable and walked out of the restaurant at 11 pm. The hubbie and the eldest stayed for the meal which came apparently minutes after we had left, the waiter was again apologetic but it was just too long to wait especially when we were so tired.
The youngest and me just walked back to our hotel and were joined about an hour later by the hubbie and eldest. It had been a long day, it was some time after 12 am by the time we were all going off to sleep.
I would add that Nascar had been smashing on the Wednesday night but on the Saturday it was way to busy. That hour was a long time to wait and we just got past the hungry stage by then. We decided never to go into the place on a weekend evening.
