The hits continue on TripAdvisor

What’s notable is that Disney World’s rating is still 4.5 stars overall, meaning that tripadvisor reviews of DW **used** to be quite positive. Not any more though. Every single one is one star and has been for months. They’re universally terrible reviews. People really hate Genie+. And why wouldn’t they? It’s ridiculously complex, far more than the old fp+ system.

That's not what I'm seeing on Tripadvisor. Quick survey of most recent 10 reviews that are 1 star:

MK 3 of 10 most recent reviews are 1 star.
Epcot 2 of most recent 10 are 1 star
DHS 3 of most recent 10 are 1 star
AK 1 of most recent 10 are 1 star

Still historically quite low ratings for WDW though.

We will be there in 2 weeks and will have an opinion at that time. That being said, my sister and her family spent a day in MK last week when it was very busy and she said she’s never had such a perfect Disney day, so there are still good experiences.

I’m not sure that I believe any of the website ratings anymore. TripAdvisor, yelp, amazon whatever. Too easy to be manipulated and seem to cater to contrary opinions

Usually manipulated in favor or the company, not the other way. Amazon sellers delete negative reviews. Amazon knows it and they do not care.

Try comparing reviews during the months Genie + has been active to the corresponding number of months in the last period that FP was active.

I think the OP is referring to reviews for just “Disney World Resort”, which is a separate page. (I’ve been reading them rather anxiously as my parents are dreaming of taking the whole family this year.)

Just took a peek. Wow! Brutal. Hopefully Disney is paying attention and working to correct the situation quickly before it causes long term damage to the company. Right now they are relying on the postponed trips and pent up travel demand, but that will wear off soon as negative word-of-mouth spreads.

Does anyone read or even believe what’s on trip advisor? Who cares. It’s nothing but a bunch of crap written there.

I see. Yes, the vast majority of the Tripadvisor reviews for the WDW resort as a whole are 1-star. Wonder why they are so much worse than those for the individual parks?

Not when it comes to trip advisor. They thrive on negativity
That is too bad. :(

I think that is people in general. I once read a stat that said a person is 10 times more likely to post a negative review than a positive. Probably more like 50 these days.

Yeah. Thing is, when everything goes perfectly there’s little reason to run to post or review. What do you say, it when exactly as expected

but let one thing go wrong and wham, first place folks head is to post how horrible it was

I do not think so, Tripadvisor makes their money from bookings on hotels. If anything, their incentive is towards positive reviews. And I think biased positive reviews are more of a problem than the reverse.

I take all reviews with a grain of salt. What gets me worried is if multiple reviews are complaining about the same concrete thing and it's something that will bother me. For example, recent construction noise at a hotel preventing people from sleeping might make me look elsewhere.

I’m guessing this is from more casual visitors typing “Disney World reviews” into Google, looking for a place to vent their frustration. Reviews of individual parks (again, just guessing) are more likely from more hardcore fans familiar with all the subcategories of places you can review Disney. (Yelp and the Disney World FB page also come up in the first page of Google search results for “Disney World reviews”, and I notice they have similarly negative reviews.)
